AMD vs. NVIDIA

Why do people argue over whether AMD or Nvidia is better?

Just pick the best card for you whenever it comes out, forget about the company. These companies don't give a shit about you, don't be loyal to any of them. Read the reviews and make an informed decision regardless of who makes the card.

It's probably just a high saturation of shills

Why do people argue over whether Democrats or Republicans are better?

Just pick the best candidate for you whenever the election comes around, forget about the party. These parties don't give a shit about you, don't be loyal to any of them. Read the promises and make an informed decision regardless of what party they're in.

because memes

I don't think which card will you choose for your personal PC will matter as much as which political party is going to rule your country for a few years

Its a matter of $400-1000 decision for some people.

Some people want whatever takes them the most for their money, AMD. Some people simply want the best regardless of price, nVidia.

Even if the best is only 10-15% better, they will pay >$700 for it.

True.

Need something to distract you from your slave job? How about being a slave to tech companies? Get your wallets ready, it's happening again this year!

r9 380 4gb or 2gb?

most benchmarks throw the same results

>spending more than $200 on a GPU

2GB is way better value, you will rarely use the 4GB

There weren't many votes in human history where individual votes mattered that much. So you can argue that you personal choice of graphics card matters to you much more, because the outcome of the voting is not affected by your individual vote.

>tfw on a strict budget and want to build a pc now but should wait for new gpu's to come out so prices drop

It feels like an endless cycle of waiting, when should I pull the trigger?

Just do it now, there will always be cheaper and better GPUs right around the corner

>buying last gen when new RX480 will be released in 3 weeks

1070 is currently the best.
there's no need to argue.
If you want to spend too much get a 1080

Nvidia fucking shits

I like your moxie, kid, but you'll never sway the shills and autists on this board.

I buy what suits my needs, but for some reason, a lot of people consider that some form of tech-heresy.

I'm doing that for my upcoming federal election in Aus. Labor says they'll give me fast internet, so they get my vote. Easy.

>personal PC
>personal
>PC
>PERSONAL PERSONAL COMPUTER

YOU FUCKING DIPSHIT!

Are you triggered?

I have a daughter, i can't afford it. Plus, i won't be able to exploit even the 50% of it.

ITS FUCKING $199 YOU DUMB CUNT

the fucking 380 is around the same GOD DAMN PRICE POINT.

You are upset and should take some Valium.

i live in a jew country, pretty sure the end price will be 4 times that

shallom

Guys can I get your help?
I need to buy a new PC, and I don't know if I should buy a 970/980 or just a 1070.
I just want to ruin anything at 1080/60fps

What's your budget? Decide that, and go from there.

I visited Australia for the first time three weeks ago and I have to say, wow, I knew you guys had slow Internet, but I thought it would at least be working half the time. Telstra is a fucking joke. And the government's giving them access to medical records lmao what the fuck.

A 980 will not be fast enough.

I had 0.03mbps download and upload for about three months straight last year because Telstra didn't believe their was a congestion problem with their exchange.

I would trade all of our beautiful beaches and wildlife away in a second if it meant I could get goddamn fibre to my house.

970 if you want it now.

1070 if you can wait a month or two.

Wait for the 1070

Absolutely wait, the 1070 is going to be a huge deal

no 760T hype?

...

Why isn't the 390/390x on there?

980ti vs 1070

For some reason, the 980tis are not fucking dropping like I was hoping, and I want a new card relatively soon. Not sure if I can be arsed waiting for the 3rd party 1070s unless it's a lot better.

Most people "loyal" to AMD chose their side to favour competition between companies and avoid monopoly from any of both.

Say lads, is there any reason to wait for a 480 versus buying a 390?

As of right now I can get it for $290 minus a $30 rebate, along with a free $60 game I want, effectively costing me $200. So unless the 480 is gonna turn out to be around 10-20% better, the wait just doesn't seem worth it.

>feminine eyelashes
ew why

480 will
> be quieter
> less power/heat
> have HDMI 2.0/DP 1.3/1.4 support
> have full h.265 encode/decode at UHD@60Hz

nothing individually groundbreaking, but a lot of moderate improvements.

...

Less power/heat alone is worth it, the 390 is a fucking space heater.

Buy 980 Ti now, sell it if something else better comes out.

because people that browse Sup Forums are autistic losers that live aimless lives.

Try to find any of these half baked, fruitless arguments anywhere else on the internet that isn't youtube and is unironic.

980 Ti isn't dropping because the 1070 hasn't launched and the 1080 was a virtual paper launch.

You'd have to be retarded to try buying one now and timing selling it off before the price collapse, which could be weeks or months out.

>Nothing groundbreaking
Yes there is at the SIMD level

Hint: 490213

>980 will not be fast enough
>480 is worse than a 980
>all these deluded amdrones who keep claiming the 480 will be able to max out every single game at 1080p

Kek I hope they all buy the 480 just so I can bathe in their tears when they find out it can barely handle 1080p at medium settings.

Probably because AMD would be objectively better without goyworks and everyone ends up being mad.

Maybe, but the harsh reality is that Gameworks exists and I'm not going to purposely buy the hardware which is more gimped in games just to support the 'good guys'. Nvidia are just better over a wider variety of games right now so they're the obvious choice for me.

It's a hair under a Fury while using way, Way less power

I'll give you a hint: full Polaris 10 has a 150 watt TDP too

>It's a hair under a Fury

Source: my ass

Even your amd shill fanboy youtuber adored tv has analysed all the evidence and done his own calculations and has admitted it won't even be better than a 290x. Go watch the video if you don't believe me.

because people need to belong to a tribe. It doesn't matter if that tribe is massive corporation that only cares about turning a profit.

Fuck off AMDrone shill cucks.

The new 1080 is the most powerful card ever made, and not buying it would be some typical AMcuck mistake.
Just because you're a bunch of neckbeard autistic shills who don't understand economics doesn't mean shit to me, you're just proud of your inferior and low owner systems.
Plus the fury x is the worst fucking overheated cuck card ever, which will never be able to compete with Nvidia superiority

>inb4 muh power draw
>Inb4 muh price
>inb4 muh hot card

It doesn't fucking matter

>They didn't turn off goyworks

Aside from the fact that you're shill, you do make a good point.

At the same price, the 1080 is significantly better than the Fury. AMD will have to show something witht the 490 or else they're stuck in mid-range limbo, competing with the 1070 just by offering almost the same performance for less cash.

>$199
oh boy

Why are Nvidia shills such liars? The 480 clearly out performs the 980

>adored tv
I keep hearing this meme, but, alas I have never watched him.

Anyways, how did you know I named my test bench My Ass?

his channel is boring as fuck. Don't bother.

guru3d.com/news-story/amd-radeon-r9-480-perf-is-close-to-r9-390x.html

All of these are from the first page in Google when searching "480x performance"

All the journalists analysing the performance are putting it at either 390 (non x) performance or 390x/980 performance at MAX. No one is saying it's going to be faster than a 980 and just because one (unconfirmed) synthetic benchmark says so, it doesn't mean it's correct. Remember when pre release fury benchmarks showed it to be faster th a the 980 ti?

Stop deluding yourselves into thinking you're magically going to get fury/x performance for $200.

>observations and guesses from tech journalists vs a benchmark

people would really pay so much for piece of hardware that will be "old crap" next year?

>>and in theory would put its performance somewhere around an R9 390 or Nvidia's now discontinued GTX 980

how come the performance of 390 is close to GTX 980? These sites make nonesense

Can confirm, my 390 puts out an absurd amount of heat.

I dunno what's better, but I work with 3D for architecture and I have lots of plugin that works only or better with nvidia, so, I really don't care. I need to save time and to have the better result with the minimum effort.

>combined observations mean nothing compared to a single unconfirmed benchmark

The key word is "or". 390 (lower end of the scale) OR 980 (higher end of the scale)

Correct

Thanks. These donuts don't even know what they're talking about
