Where were you when Zen was kill?

Where were you when AMD was kill?

Fucking waiting game, I'm losing in it.

If they just hold products forever then when they do finally come out they won't be very fast anymore. The world moves forward. Give us something.

They should just release it, Intel gets away with massive bugs and errata every gen.

Just buy Intel, no matter what AMD does they will always be stuck behind Intel. 6700k is life.

ITT nobody read the source.

Digitimes' claim of a delay is pulled from their posterior given less than a month ago - at an investor's meeting - Lisa Su said everything is on track. Do note lying to investors doesn't end well if you are caught.

I close this thread and just noticed your shit in the corner of my eye.

You do know when the FX series came out Intel had nothing to compete against it? For over a year.

>The world moves forward

Does it? What the fuck do you need from a CPU that currently available lineups can't give you, but will be delivered in the next generation of CPUs? For the average end-user, CPU upgrades have hit the point of diminishing returns like fucking 3-5 years ago. In what situation does a mid-range CPU even become a system bottleneck these days?

I'm still using a FX-8350 4.8GHz, it's still not bottlenecking games with two Nanos.

You can't switch sides once you get one. The motherboard will only accept that certain socket. Motherboard might also be chosen carefully for the case and needs. At this point it would be foolish to buy AMD CPU when the big jump is already announced and it will use a newer socket. That means you can only wait or get Intel, which means that you can only get Intel in the future as well. I don't want to change everything every time I upgrade my PC, that would mean I get to do it less often since it's a larger purchase.

I'll believe it when I get the information from AMD. They told us during investor calls that it would release 2H 2016, failing to meet that deadline would be pretty bad unless they give us a decent reason other than "our other shit isn't selling as fast as we want".

But my point is exactly that there really is no need to constantly upgrade your CPU anymore, so you don't have to worry about that.

Make of this what you will.

>4k
I don't even own a 4K monitor. Nor am I interested in one.

Then - ultimately - you are cpu limited. 4k really is the point where cpu stops mattering with current gpus which is why GCN cards have a tendency to gain performance relative to their Nvidia counterpart. These days at 4k a fury x is faster than a 980ti.

Christ a 780ti is closer to a 280x/7970ghz than a 290x at 4k.

>TPU
>not an AMD sponsored site

>ipc lower than the fucking phenom
>"intel had nothing to compete against it"

EL

OH

EL

How do I go about OCing my fx8350 to 4.8 on air?

I'm not CPU limited at 1080p dipshit, I will never use 4k with that CPU.

You're telling me my engine is limited to 160km/h while newer ones are 220km/h, but I drive on a 110km/h speed limit, ALWAYS.

Also,

>sandy bridge release date: january 2011
>faildozer release date: late 2011
>faildozer in charge of getting even close to sandy bridge

Good mobo, good cooler, plenty of volts and an aggressive LLC.

>I'm not CPU limited at 1080p dipshit

Yes, yes you are. Even the mightiest Intel chips struggle to keep top end gpus fed well enough to have them pegged at 100% load all the time (lel if you think gpu-z is remotely accurate for that) due to a huge number of factors, but resolution is an important one.

>you are cpu limited.

except you're not because there is no game where a recent mid-budget CPU bottlenecks your setup from achieving 1080p at le silky smooth framerates, and there won't be one for a long time.

Well fuck me you must be right.

Holy shit, what did you just not understand?
You run a game at 85FPS lock, my GPU's don't even struggle a bit, I don't need to use 100% of my CPU of that.

Not him but CPU bottlenecking is a case by case scenario you fucking idiot. It has fuckall to do with resolution.

Also, you ARE cpu bound with your vishera turd if you play MMOs, RTSs, multiplayer heavy games or literally anything slightly unoptimized, which are quite common.

...

Well I think the problem is for the people who currently have much older or weaker CPUs and wanted to wait for Zen to deliver something worth upgrading that has good price to performance. Now we will have to wait longer or go with skylel. If you already have top of the line CPU this news doesn't matter at all

Who would buy a Fury X or a GTX 1080 for 1080p gaming? You should look at the bottom of the chart. Using a budget card that one would buy for FHD gaming, the difference between a super fucking beefy high end CPU and a budget one is TWO frames per second.

This guy is correct about the gaymes stuff, hell my i5-4670 currently bottlenecks me in most of the MMOs I play nowadays because the developers don't know how to optimize for more than 5 people on a screen.

again these are completely useless charts because no one buys a fucking Titan X for 1080p gaming.

Oops I ment 4.6 GHz sorry. I'm using a 212 evo

You really have no understanding of what those charts show do you? I want Sup Forums to leave.

Hint: its the delta.

I wouldn't try and get 4.6ghz out of an evo 212 for an 8350 unless its a golden sample. I would consider it if you had a 8320e but even then thats dicey.

Still, disable turbo, crank the multiplier up enough to get 100mhz increase in core clocks over turbo (which for an 8350 is 4.2ghz, so you'll want 4.3ghz) and go run intel burn test or prime 95 for a while. If it doesn't melt but crashes more volts is the answer.

Seriously though, you NEED to monitor motherboard temps. Pic semi-related - a setup so close to the edge it would be at home in a knife rack.

This is dumb and not news worthy. All that amd said was that zen will be production ready late 2016. Which will be true. Server and HPC market will have a priority access to the zen and desktop/enduser market will be early 2017. That was clear from the start. There is no delay.

This company is on its very last leg. It's run by idiots, has no money, massive debt, lousy margins and declining market share. There are no brains nor resources at AMD sufficient to develop a winning product. Expecting AMD's crew of mental midgets to come up with a winner is like putting 100 monkeys in a room with 100 typewriters and expecting one of them to come up with Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.

>massive debt

I can tell you've never been to /biz/.

fuck off and kys

Sounds like a lot of BS considering you have zero sources in your post.

Newfag, the FX moniker didn't start with the Bulldozers.

AMD confirmando que esta acabado y en bancarrota.

AMD has a huge debt.

This. Is it even possible for another company to break into the desktop processor market? Or would they not be able to produce x86 CPUs legally? I kinda hope someone with a lot of resources like Samsung would get into the desktop/laptop CPU market.

H-ha just w-wait guys! Y-you'd be an idiot to buy anything now! Just wait 4 months, half a year, a year, several years...AMD w-will BTFO everybody!...one of these days....eventually.................

The way Intel and AMD work is a complicated system. They are licensing each other shitloads of stuff and actually have a complex relationship, they need each other and both of the might not even exist if one of them didn't.

¡Se acabó!
¡A-Eme-De está acabado y en bancarrota!

Won't all of that eventually become public domain like all other IP? Or will x86_64 become obsolete by that time?

well kids these days dont know shit about that

IBM can always return to x86 if they wanted too.

>IBM
>anything non enterprise

Pick exactly one.

>IBM starts making x86 processors that blow Intel and AMD out of the water
>IBM starts making high quality laptops again
>5 years later Sup Forums is raving about how great they are because they can finally afford them in some office clearance sale

>IBM will never produce consumer goods ever again

Anything that is patented will eventually reach the public domain(after 20 years I believe) but Intel and AMD both extend x86 with instruction set extensions and those have their own terms.

>mickey mouse

>CPU bottleneck changes with resolution
You are a very stupid man. If anything you're more bound to the cpu at 1080p than at 4k since less is demanded from your GPU while your CPU has the same workload.

Copyrights are not the same as patents.

patents say otherwise

Does this apply to code? 20 year-old proprietary software becomes public domain?

You cant.
Via produces x86 cpus, and IBM allegedly still has a license.
Then theres that chink company that joined amd to create server cpus for china.

Code can be patented and copyrighted but usually it's just copyrighted. If it's both(likely) then you can't use it even if the patents expired on it but you can make your own version of whatever it is if it's like an innovation like a compression algorithm

there's a real fucking reason why it's called indian business machines

50% of the workforce are street shitters

Slight correction, you can't use it until the copyright on it expires as well. Copyrights last 80+ years due to lobbying from disney

>50% of the workforce are street shitters
So is the rest of silicon valley.

Yeah but that's with the software using every core. When it only uses 2, Intel wins every single time.

IT'S OVER, AYYMD IS FINISHED & BANKRUPT

Who cares. I'm probably going to build my next computer with one of their Vishera processors because it doesn't include their Security Processor backdoor bullshit.

This is even more echo chamber clickbait nonsense.

Lisa Su stated months ago that Zen based parts would have their first year of full revenue in 2017. They are going to be available at the end of this year.
She simply restated this point at Computex after showing off Summit Ridge, and failing desperate tech site digitimes ran an article claiming AMD had delayed its launch. No such thing took place. Now a dozen other sites have picked up their article in typical echo chamber fashion. All reposting the exact same nonsense without ever verifying whether or not its true.
