feels bad man
I got the 970 4 days before 1070 got announced

Makes you a retard

Return it

I only very briefly feel like this, but then I realize that GPUs release at such a frequent rate that if you're honestly worried about being 'top-of-the-line' you'll never stop obsessing over it.

Some times its honestly better to just buy what works for you and be done with it.

yeah but this time its different

Depending on how many months ago it was, I wouldn't feel too bad. There's always going to be something better that comes out several months or a year down the road. Assuming it was a sizable upgrade, just think, you would have spent the past several months playing on a shittier card had you not upgraded. Just wait for a bit, enjoy your 970, and eventually there will be a card that serves as a solid, viable upgrade path from the 970. Alternatively, consider selling your 970 and putting it towards one of the newer cards if you're really bothered by it.

>Some times its honestly better to just buy what works for you and be done with it.
This man speaks the truth.

The only time it makes sense to listen to the "just wait" memesters is when a new release is right around the corner. Just be glad you're not a fuck-up like this guy:

It was a decent upgrade, had to put xcom2 really low for decent performance, and it still shit itself all the time (gtx660).

I'm more on SUICIDE WATCH because it wasn't even that cheap and I could have just waited for a much better 1070 or 480 for not much more.

I bought a 390 around the beginning of the year but I did only pay about 270 for it, so I'm not too remorseful.

Like I said, don't feel too bad. That sounds like it was definitely a worthwhile upgrade at the time.

Remember, the people that buy the 480, 1070, and 1080 will probably be on SUICIDE WATCH as well when the 1060, 490, and 1080ti hit a few months from now, and then the cycle will continue. That's just the way things are, senpai.

Why the hell didnt you at least buy a 390

They cost about the same in Canadia and looked roughly equal on performance.

I was scared of falling for the AMD meme but will do more research in the future.

>like you didn't know it was coming
>you are incapable of planning for the future
>you bought 3.5gb horse shit

You deserve everything you get for your stupidity.

I will actually buy the 970, if the price drops to a reasonable level.

Not a gamer and the 1070 is just too powerful for my needs.

Get a 480

no, I'm not poorfag

what if I bought 2? is that setup simple to do?

>bought a 970
Deserved it. New cards were right around the corner

Sell your 970 and get the new hotness.

If you repeat this cycle you can have the newest gpu every year for about $100 a go around.

I'm still using a 560Ti. My CPU is even older, it's a Q6600.

I've been waiting for Zen CPUs to be released before upgrading everything.

>getting a 970 because the 1070 is too powerful
>insulting people with budgets

Wat

I've never ran dual gpu I don't think it seems worth it, would rather have one powerful gpu. But apparently if you want to crossfire the 480 is a good card for it.

One of the key separations between men and animals is the ability to delay gratification for greater overall gain.

Not being a waitfag when you knew a massive node shrink was just around the corner puts you more toward the stupid animal, less towards the man aspect of things.

>falling for the waitfag bashing by the waitfag bashers
Probably Nvidia shills, too

This is the right mindset. I usually never wait and just brag the best thing I can afford when I need to upgrade.
This is my first time waiting, because I planned an upgrade this month, and the cards got announced. So I might as well wait.

should I buy the 390 or wait for the 480?

fuck I can't wait one fucking month

how is the 480 compared to the 970ti?

its poorfag card, they dont even dare to release it for testing.

expect some marketing scams from MAD when its released.

I will pick my 970 next week. Its fine for me because I'm still stuck at 1080p. Meanwhile I will eventually upgrade to 4k when the 11xx hbm2 cards roll out.

One month is all you need to wait desu

and the non meme answer?

wait 2 more days until review hit the press

When can we expect the price of the other cards to drop? I plan on getting the 390 if the Rx 480 isn't more powerful.
Will they go down the day they come out, or does it take a few weeks?

aaarrrrgghhhh

Guru3d leaked non ref 1070 review today then pulled it. Not much joy on google cache. Anyone find it?

>buddy of mine bought a 390 the day before amd announced the $200 480

>two of my friends both bought a 390 a few days before the announced 480
>they are acting like they don't care
>get mad every time I bring up I'm waiting for it to release to buy it

what's with her massive cheekbone

>tfw spending most of the time waiting for gpu's and not even playing any recent game titles

>tfw spending my life on Sup Forums/g/

Yea but the thing is that if you are going for a GTX 970 or 980. It's best to wait for the 1080 and 1070 to come out so that the price on the former drops like flies.

>computer is incredibly outdated
>slowly upgrade everything
>only outdated part is the GPU
>can hardly play games because its so shit
>either get 10fps or computer melts
>trying to fight the urge to cave in and get a card before the new ones drop

how about spending time actually gaming

but user, my friends only play league of legends.

there's nothing to do with my 980ti except joining them

>tfw new cards drop so soon but I was forced to buy a 390 a month ago because my holiday started then
>beat rise of the tomb raider and mad max
>after that, only play extremely low requirement indie shit and old classics
Should have stuck with my ancient 5870 for another few years desu

atleast you got an amd card

depending on what you paid for the 390, the card is gonna last you much longer than a 980ti

Fittingly, around $390. In Euroland so it's to be expected. In fact I just checked and the card is even more expensive now than when I bought it...

>buying a GTX 970
>ever

You fucked up terribly regardless of the release of the 1080/1070.

h-hold on

you can do it!

You guys are retarded.

Buying a GPU when the next generation is 6+ months away - without even providing a node shrink - is vastly different from buying a card that is about to get completely trashed by vastly superior tech 3 weeks later. We're going to have the biggest increase in price/performance since 2011/2012.

So, you're saying I should wait 6+ more months? Fuck that. I actually want to have fun in that time.

I don't even know fim senpai

>fim
What sort of nigger speak is this.

well, sorry. But you know, a few months ago it was clear that AMD and nVidia had something coming down the pipe for summer so you should've waited, unless you just absolutely couldn't.

970 isn't bad. And honestly, you can probably try and catch one on ebay for cheaper and SLI it.

Additionally, not only is the 970 pretty good, aside from Battlefield 1, I can't think of any game that is really gonna put your card to the test.

Just remember that there is literally fuckall to play and you'll feel good.

Fuck you.

I am *mentally* kinda sold on the 1070. I love my 780 and I've been getting great performance from it. Not as good as some benchmarks have said, but I can keep 1080p 60fps with most everything at least high, or a few things medium here and there. Whatever the case, I'm talking diminishing returns. I'm not turning anything so low half the trees disappear or anything like that.

That being said... since I am targeting 1080p 60 for the the next 2 years, I'm wondering if the 480 will be enough. I have no plans for VR. If the 480 will handle most everything I need then the price difference is so great I may just get that.

LG has this 1080p 75hz IPS free-sync(hdmi) display available in the UK currently, it's like $130

www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-23MP68VQ-P

Thanks. Is freesynch worth it? I see some amazon US monitors with freesynch at a reasonable price so its exciting. It's definitely a strength for a potential AMD purchase.

I haven't really had issues with vsynch but Gsynch is way too expensive to consider.

there's plenty of stuff to do, faggot, I'm pretty sure you can live with integrated graphics for a while

Mostly there to help with games you can't run at your monitor's max resolution

more useful for AAA games and 144hz displays

But ya, it doesn't add much to the cost of a display, so it's one of those things that you might as well get, plus the 480 is finally going to give AMD a solid card without high power draw and possibly good overclocking given the 14nm process

>buying an obsolete card.

You know that newer drivers are going to kill the 970 performance right? Just see what happen to the 7xx series

>SLI the 970
It's like you're trying to cuck yourself.

Sincerely, a 970 owner.

I don't have integrated graphics.

Oh okay. That's cool. I've been looking into a dual monitor setup mainly cause I work with spreadsheets and often keep multiple drafts open, so I may consider this. It will ultimately be dependent on how the 480 does compared to the 1070 in reviews.

Heck, is there even a big game coming later on this year that is going to really stress out graphics cards? Battlefield 1 maybe?

Battlefield has historically been AMD optimized anyways.

Really it's just going to be the 390x Vs what is basically a 980ti performance wise

Why don't you just buy one big 4K display for productivity though?

Or they make 1440p 144hz TN free-sync displays on the relatively cheap

I bought my 390 back in February. I could've waited but I probably would've wasted the money on something else and since I live in Canada, I figured prices would be total shit anyway.

Why the fuck do you need the latest cards to play post 2010 garbage?

Words cannot explain how terrible this is.

not for 9 months, less than 3 maybe
