What host are they referring to here and how do I access it?

I need help on deciding what to buy next.
Pic related is my current specs.
Should up upgrade to the 6700k, Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, and 3200 Mhz DDR4 RAM or upgrade my monitor to the Asus PG278Q?

%SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts if windows

i just installed kodi for the first time. what addons should i get

when I open desktop through the file manager in windows 10, it kept refreshing itself which reset the scroll back to the top.

My Iceweasel stopped receiving and sending data. It didn't even resolved the addresses. I had to close it and open again to get to normal. Wtf happened?

so just to clarify, everyone uses gmail right?
even anti-botnetters?

What does "bad airflow" mean when people talk about the H440?

Is there a good processor for a motherboard with a LGa 1151 socket?

No, i think they use something like proton mail

you may have a broken key that refreshes it. also do a virus scan

no difference between d3/d4 in terms of frames
i would get a future proof monitor because only the new intel chipset will support crosspoint

where do I go to pirate linux games?

How do I install PVR Clients in Kodi for Debian?

Are appliances tech?

Is there a way to stream the audio of my pc to my phone through an app so i can plug my headphones and listen while moving.
Running ubuntu.

What do you guys use for ios development? Android?

Whats the best way to back up 400 MB of my entire life? I usually spend a long time making the folder into a .7z file and back that up onto a external hard drive. Is there a better way?

Google drive?

I want to play league of legends woth my friends but the only computer I have with me is a thinkpad running ubuntu
How can I optimize wine to run LeL?
Also I've only used Fedora and Ubuntu, what Linux distro should I check out next? I'm interested in debian because i heard it runs nicely on rasberry pis

I'm in no position to make posts. It's not MB, it's GB. No way Drive will allow that size, not even Mega will.

How does /g like this case.

Why are sysadmins called sadmins?

> 400 GB
FTFY. Also, given that (very large!) volume of data, what you are already doing is probably the best way. You might separate the folder into different parts, and only update what is necessary against the previous backup to save some time, but other than that just be careful not to drop the drive lol.

I think you can purchase more mb from google. Even amazon has great rates

Need some help recovering some of my lost files.

My laptop shut itself down couple days ago (which is fairly normal for me since it's pretty old) and i rebooted like i always do. However, the start up process took almost damn near 20 minutes and all the files in my desktop disappeared by the time it finished loading and my desktop wallpaper was a default windows one.
I navigated through my computer and found all the previous desktop files, which i promptly moved to my new one. After that my computer shut itself off again with another 20 minutes booting sequence.
This time my wallpaper was reverted to my usual one but all my files disappeared. I cant seem to find it and i tried searching as well. I also tried to open one of the folders from my frequent list but it says the shortcut has been changed or moved.
Are my files gone forever? currently running windows 8 atm.

Thanks. Are these good settings for the compression for a file of that size? I just go for the default.

my wifi seems to get really slow out of a sudden.
I have tried to change the channel and it helped for a while, but suddenly it drops again.
By slow I mean usually I have 20-50 mbit on wifi and now I have 15 kbit.
It doesn't affect wired traffic.

Im doing a homework where I need to look for software solutions and I really need help with it.
My last work was on a clinic that needed a software to make the schedules of the appointments, so it was easy to find many options to buy/rent a software that do that.
But now my project is about an app for my college that allow you to check your schedule and receive notifications from teachers in case a class is canceled or the teacher is coming late, and I really dont know how to start looking for somebody who sells an app that do at least part of that. I know the best option is to create the app from zero, but I still need to look for buy/rent solutions

anyone use lynda.com? any recommended beginner courses for anything to do with networks/servers? i've got free access to it.

Is there a good way to get an oversized desktop on Windows 7?

(not downsampling)

I don't really know anything about what you are compressing (and it would be hard to reconnoiter such a large collection) but unless you are hurting for file size/memory usage in making the final archive, I wouldn't worry about changing the settings. It might be worth noting that 7z archives do not preserve (NTFS) file permissions (*.rar archives do though) but I don't know if that matters to you.
A lot of the settings there get into some fairly complicated technical details on compression, but just as an example of what you could change, you might try increasing the word size if you have a lot of fairly similar files.
Maybe play around with some of these options against a smaller sampling of the sorts of files you will be compressing, and try to find the best balance between speed and resultant size.
Keep in mind that you are likely looking at diminishing returns for very large values against e.g. dictionary or word size. Making these larger generally will always increase the time it takes to compress your files, without necessarily yielding proportional (or even noticeable) gains against the size of the archive.

The files range from pictures to videos to webm's to html files. I just want the files to be backed up. I remember when I dragged and dropped the folder long ago into an external HD, files were missing. It's not the size that worries me, its having them all go onto the HD, every single one of them and not become corrupted or unplayable or unviewable.

I use Crashplan. Unlimited storage, secure client side private key encryption, and (if you tell it to) unlimited revision history/never deletes files.

My only complaint is that the background service uses a fuckload of RAM.

I like to listen to music and play games at the same time so I got a splitter and a volume controller so I can have audio coming from my pc and consoles sent to one pair of headphones, the issue I'm having is when I turn the volume down from the volume controller connected to my consoles I start to hear a buzzing sound the lower the volume the louder the buzz, I tested a bunch of things and it only happens with the splitter plugged in. so my question is would replacing the splitter get rid of the buzzing noise? if not is there any other solutions to have audio playing from two sources with volume control independent from one another? the splitter is 2 male one female if that helps

Can't afford food for about 10 days, anyone have any tips to get by without eating for that long? I do have some mustard and some salt, so I guess I can make myself a bowl of salty mustard if the cravings get to be too much, but that's pretty much it for my pantry at the moment.

You could just use SPDIF or something to output the audio to your PC (I got a $20 USB adapter that does SPDIF in if your sound card doesn't have the functionality built in) this would kind of sort of allow independent adjustment (though it'd be fiddly and have to be done through your software volume controls)

plain rice

Would have been nice if I'd stocked up beforehand, but I don't get my welfare check for another 10 days and have literally no money, I dunno I guess I could go out and beg for change or something but I don't really like the idea. It somehow offends my dignity.

How can I make my cheat less "detectable" by humans? The community has realized that the anticheat is useless and has taken it into their own hands to find cheaters. They're making suspected cheaters dump Explorer and looking through displaydns and even looking in the Prefetch folder. What can I do?

Just do mechanical turk shit and get a couple bucks, should be enough to keep you from starving. You don't want to not eat for 10 days, it will be super unpleasant.

Sounds like more hassle than it's worth. I'd probably just get a flash drive, load it with my music and plug it in to the consoles.

Alternatively, if you don't mind spending money there is this option

plantronics.com/us/product/rig

Go to a local church with a food pantry

If you're worried about your dignity go sell something of yours at a pawn shop. I'm sure you have something you can get a quick 50 bucks for.

fuck dude that rig thing is perfect but I really don't want to spend that much, I've already bought 2 mixers and both only output audio to 1 headphone

It's a lot cheaper on eBay

ebay.com/itm/Plantronics-Rig-Black-Headband-Headset-Multi-Platform-PS4-Xbox-IN-BOX-/231970217514?hash=item3602809e2a:g:K1AAAOSwn8FXSFK3

I need to put a non-pirated OS on a laptop for a normie. Early Core 2 Duo era Dell. Which distro should I use?

so, pic related is my current rig. about how much power do you guys thing I'm drawing (assuming full load)? I got one of those Phanteks Mini XL Dual system cases and I was wondering if I could run a low power mini ITX system off the same Power supply (850w Corsair HX series). the Mini ITX will just be a file server/HTPC/Porn stash/seedbox, so it shouldn't suck up too much power, even under load. the main system (pic related) will get updated to the botnet.

It's also on Amazon new for $40

>H440
I don't know about that case, but in general it means the case design does not allow for good airflow. That is, the hot air around the cpu/ gfx / mobo is not fanned out of the case efficiently.

>Does not ship to Canada
just fuck my shit up senpai

Just keep looking through the eBay results. There are ones that ship to Canada. You'll pay more but still a lot less than what MSRP is.

There actually is a guy shipping free to Canada but his has a broken mobile cable.

should i use a core2 duo e8400 or pentium dual core e5400 for my media center. i have both

the pentium computer has ddr3 ram and the core2 duo has ddr2 ram

I'm looking for a simple music player for Android that is really just a file browser. I'd like it to play the entire contents of a folder when selecting a single file. Basically, the Rockbox file browser on Android.

Any recommendations?

I'm moving over to W8.1
Does Sup Forums even recommendate using windows apps? for example how is the app version of skype different?

any apps Sup Forums recommendates?

Player Pro does this. Just tell it to use the folders browser in settings.

>Windows 10
>Intel
>NVIDIA
>Samsung SSD

You're so deep into the bullshit I don't think we can help you anymore

what's a cheap low power video card i can throw in an old dell optiplex 780 to watch shit on kodi. pretty much just need one for the hdmi port. it just need to be able to play 1080p videos. i wanna spend like 20 bucks tops

mozilla.debian.net/

Ubuntu MATE

No, there's nothing of interest. I've used 8.1 for about 2 years and the only app I occasionally get thrown at me is PC settings, otherwise I'd have forgetten they exist.

GT610 if you can get it to fit

sweet thanks

Hey guy, I bought this giant ass case with a side panel about a year ago. Is there anyway i can cover the sidepanel up and make it look nice? Or better yet buy a sidepanel for it without the window? Its a bit to gaymer for me. Thanks for the help

Swap the CPUs over, use the E8400 in the DDR3 motherboard.

Assuming that's a R9 280X ãnd no significant overclocking you'll take a maximum of ~250W for the GPU + ~100W for the CPU + ~50W for the rest of the system = 400W total.

You can't really use the same PSU for two systems, the motherboard expects to be able to switch on/off the PSU, and will behave weirdly if it doesn't switch on/off when it's expected to.

Try turning your modem/router/access point off and on again

SYStem ADMINistrator

I need a WRT/AP that gives me a ton instead of 30 mac addresses authentication

thx

Can anyone tell me what program is closest to mspaint but is available on osx? Total noob on the whole apple stuff and i need some program i can do drawing and really simple image editing with. Sorry if poorly worded, slept only an hour last night.

run Windows xp or something in a vn and use mspaint

Genesis

>You can't really use the same PSU for two systems,

Phanteks Disagrees.

I'm not sure how it works exactly, but according to reviews, it does actually work.

Wouldn't bootcamp be easier tho? but idk if i can install off of a usb drive (boot camp says it needs an optical disk) and im on a late 2010 mba (that i got for free from a friend since he fucked up the mouse pad thing, gonna order a replacement and fix it myself oy vey)

here's a stupid question;

Why do we continue to invest in faster processors/gpus for better looking/bigger games instead of making better software?

Im shitposting.

because of the jews

Why do you have this on your desktop?

Also, buy any cloud storage. They are pretty cheap.

>lynda
shit is outdated.

Why are you such a leech to your country?

Why does America burn money in Military "investments" instead of using it for other greater good?

we should be doing both but the big players in the field would rather churn out 10 games a year than optimize 2-4 games a year

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military–industrial_complex

I am fairly new to Sup Forums, and I don't know much about anything. I need help finding a good free open source video editing software that works with windows. If anyone has one, I would be very thankful.

Looking at RAM to buy, should I spring for Kingston or the slightly cheaper Hynix branded ones?

I'm using my PC for regular gaming mostly, no overclocking or anything.

Is there a way to increase the size of a disk partition on the far left? Disk manager says it can only shift space in one direction.

In the code for the fast inverse square root, what does the "F" at the end of
float x2, y;
x2=0.5F;
Stands for and why is it necessary?

How do you hack a wifi with Ubuntu?

Why is it I see ps1s in audiophile threads?

Are they good/decent alternative to having nothing prior?

Was it only me or did no new posts appeared nor could you post for about two hours?

float literal, as opposed to double literal, avoids conversion from double to float.

Explain please, why would it convert to double if i explicitly defined the variable as a float?

Previously I installed linux-vfio-lts and would now want to move to linux-vfio.
Installed both from AUR using yaourt.
After installing the vfio kernel, my system still boots into the lts one. Why?

Any self taught java developers with jobs and without educations on here?

I'm building a PC that needs to go in an enclosed space, any way to make that less fucking hot? My guess is that just adding more fans/better heatsinks won't really work because you're just pushing around hot air anyway.

en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/language/floating_literal

I can't make head or tail of what's written there. Explain it to me like i was a retard

I want to program for iOS. I now have a Thinkpad and a Nexus 5X. Do I need to get a Macbook? Xcode seems to require the latest macOS

Mostly the part of "why a variable that i defined as a float is treated as a double unless i tell the program that it is a float in the number".

That seems counterintuitive as fuck.

I shouldn't use copressed air with rubber dome keyboard right? Because I just did and the rubber under under the plastic got all twisted in the key holes, it eventually came back into its original shape after it cooled down but I guess I could fuck up the keyboard this way so I should avoid doing it in the future correct?

suffix, if present, is one of f, F, l, or L. The suffix determines the type of the floating-point literal:

(no suffix) defines double
f F defines float
l L defines long double

But isn't the type defined during the creation of the variable?
If i write
float x=1.01
I'd expect x to be a float, not a double

So I have a 2TB drive that has music and other crap, it's formatted to NTFS. There's one folder on the drive that I cannot access on Windows but opens fine on Linux. When I try to open it on Windows I get:

[redacted] refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.

Assignment is evaluated last. You define float x and double constant 1.01 then assign the value of that constant to x which requires conversion double -> float.

For what purpose was this design choice agreed upon? Doesn't that also mean that the variable won't be equal to 1.01 unless i put the F because of rounding errors when switching from one format to the other?

can anyone download MPC-HC from mpc-hc.org?

they host everything themselves now instead of using sourceforge, and all of their downloads fail, also no mirrors.

> For what purpose was this design choice agreed upon?
C and C++ designed in a way that imply that programmer knows what he is doing and what kind of a constat he needs.

> Doesn't that also mean that the variable won't be equal to 1.01 unless i put the F because of rounding errors when switching from one format to the other?
It will not be equal 1.01 anyway.
