WebP offers: -lossy encoding -lossless encoding -transparency -animations -lower lossless file size compared to PNG -lower file sized compared to JPG at the quality It's literally the best general purpose format that there can exist for the web. It replaces PNG, JPG, and even GIF.
>It's literally the best general purpose format that there can exist for the web. ha, funny you can go back to g+ now
Bentley Howard
Webp is a free format you dumbass. Google gets 0$ if you use it on your website or for distributing photos.
Carter Howard
oops forgot pic related
kys
Bentley Robinson
Can it do vector?
Jason Reyes
No but what do you need vector for? Vector is also horrible for drawings and real life photos. Either impossible to use or require like 1 million lines/polygons which would freeze any modern desktop.
Andrew Carter
>PNG image 1/3 of size of the WebP image HAHAHAHAHA WebP SHILLFAG ON SUICIDE WATCH
Lossy WebP is worse than JPG in that you can only use 4:2:0 chroma subsampling while JPG can do 4:4:4.
What's the point of using a newer format if it can't even offer the same capabilities as the older more universal ones?
In general the improvements aren't so good that it would be worth the massive loss in general compatibility everywhere. FLIF and BPG are much more interesting as far as new image formats are considered.
Lincoln Johnson
webp dis
Angel Torres
>4:2:0 chroma subsampling only That's fucking crap, holy shit.
Jordan Collins
>"""""""lossless""""""""
Hudson Sanchez
Yeah, it is a pretty major drawback.
Lossless WebP uses ARGB so it doesn't suffer from the same issue, but lossy WebP is doomed to suffer from 4:2:0.
James James
end your life you retard
Jack Jenkins
Is this thread some kind of bizarro nerd Dutch auction or what
Michael Harris
no, you're just as much of a fag as OP is.
Lincoln Kelly
You got pretty close but PNG is still dogshit compared to Webp. Can you drink more water? Your tears are too salty.
Doesn't matter, just use BPG already. HEVC is better than all vpx crap. Also, is just a .js and that's it, no need to ask for browser official support.
Kevin Thomas
at least use something nice to look at webpshill
Brody Hughes
BPG is a meme format with no support on any web browsers. Webp is already supported on Chrome and it's derivatives + pale moon.
Sadly it won't get adopted ever. We'll have to wait for Webp 2.0.
Brandon Fisher
Nice cup size. 1000 ml?
Nicholas Smith
why wont you just kys? its easy and you save some money on food
I think if mootykins was still around he'd implement it, the way he did with webm. Meanwhile, we have hiroshima nagasaki here
Zachary Collins
point for you. Now that i have your attention...
you still owe me
Dylan Martinez
> is already supported on Chrome WOOOOW Tell me one thing that was developed for web by Jewggle that is not support on his on botnet, boy BPG can be supported using js, its the free web - no need to wait for "official support", fucking cucko
Xavier Martin
lel are you even trying? just end it all
Asher Baker
does this answer your question?? not everybody is using chromebot
>webp literally fighting over less than a 1% reduction in file size
Dylan Bell
He's probably being paid to shill PNG for whatever odd reason.
Christian Morris
How many iterations did you need to get to this filesize, and how much time did it take, by the way?
Isaiah Carter
How can i view this shit on android?
Carson Bailey
Here's the thing: he modified his images to suit PNG as much as possible. Because of that he ruined the image with color banding and dithering.
In reality most PNG images from a raw source (ie not modified to be PNG compression friendly) will usually be 1.25-1.50X bigger than a Webp image compressed with lossless compression and a -m value of 6.
Christian Ross
Nobody cares you retarded piece of shit. Stop shitting in every thread with your completely irrelevant non-issue.
Ayden Mitchell
So other than a minuscule reduction in file size and no compatibility, what else does webp have to offer?
Andrew Powell
lol, i sense an incoming 0.4% why havent you kys yet?
Eli Sanchez
>How many iterations did you need to get to this filesize 1 single encode with cwebp 0.5.0 provided on the google webp pre-compiled tools section website.
>and how much time did it take, by the way? like 2 seconds despite the parameter -m 6 being used.
Brayden Barnes
stop posting anime, faggots
Easton Green
>Here's the thing: he is trying to modify Sup Forums to suit Google Chrome as much as possible. Because of that he ruined the image board with shilling and faggotery. ftfy >0.4%
Luke Morgan
applefags cannot view
Jacob Garcia
Lossless means that you are not supposed to reduce the color depth you idiot.
James Davis
Downloading google Chrome right now. Forefox is shit anyway.
