So, what happened? Did these things even make it to the market?

So, what happened? Did these things even make it to the market?

Besides being overpriced, as per being an Apple, what'd people think of them?

I kinda want one, but I heard there's Chink Shit out there for like $50 and about as good.

I work at a hospital in SoCal and at least half of my co-workers have them in my department of about 90 people.

I just use an F91w

>So, what happened?

Is the battery life that piss-poor? I thought Apple marketed that it'd last you the entire day.

Or is it only if you do literally nothing on them? And if so, isn't not doing shit on them the vast majority of the time kinda the point of the device?

Former owner here. It did much more than it needed to do, bottom line. Other issues you'll hear people whine about are some sluggishness and unintuitive UI but ultimately it's just not necessary. Like a second iPhone on your hand. I don't need that much concern weighing on me whether I bump it into a wall and scratch it.

Got a Pebble Time when it was $90. It gets my notifications, it can send messages, and it can activate Siri from my wrist. I don't need anything else.

smart watches are garbage.

Shitpost. Please explain why.

Battery is not a major concern, and you can stretch it to two days, but if you take it off every night before bed why not just set it on the charger? You're gonna set it down somewhere.

2 rupees have been deposited in your iShill account Pajeet.

I'm the Pebble guy, retard.

Just get a Pebble. Way cheaper and good apps. I will get the Time 2 as soon as it comes out. Battery lasts 10 days and it has a heartrate sensor.

Just like any other Apple product they are a fashion accessory, Rich people ran out and bought them so they could status signal with it.

Watches are redundant, Everyone carries a smartphone that has a huge clock right on the lockscreen....

useless. gimmick. etc

overpriced
no compatibility with other OS's apple could have had the same decency as google and make it work with another OS.

>B-but I wan't a smartphone on my wrist, Senpai

This sounds like the right answer.

Given what you actually get out of it, and the insane price, probably means it's only affordable by rich people.

Hopefully richfags will buy enough into it and bring down the price for us poor-to-middle-class people.

I have a casino style watch, battery has been in there god knows how long and it still tells the time, that's smart enough for me

That's not how iCancer products work.

How does Apple work? I don't know shit about them except their shit is expensive.

It appears you've been asleep for the past year when it outsold every Android Wear watch model combined.

>Chink Shit out there for like $50 and about as good
lol

Today is the first time I've ever heard of Android Wear. Are those any good?

>lol
Don't mock me. ChinkShit has saved me once before.

Just get a fucking pebble

If you want one that isn't ugly as shit you're gonna be paying in the same range as the AW.

this is far off from being something one needs. if you dont need a phone anymore and you do everything from your watch then wecan talk again

>Battery is not a major concern, and you can stretch it to two days,

And that's supposed to be impressive? My Casio DB-31 has been running on the same battery since 16 years.

So much regret. I even bought AppleCare for $60 so it ended up costing me $665. I would honestly sell it for $300, but no one even wants them.

>So, what happened? Did these things even make it to the market?

Yeah, but their owners ate them after a few weeks.

I had a fit bit and I wasn't impressed at all. I believe "wearables" are indeed gimmicks.

>she's so fat that I could probably fit both my wrists through the size that she has it on
this image gets me every time

>a manchild
>owns a superfluous apple product
Wow, what a surprise

I saw at least two a week when worked drive-thru at McDonald's, it was tough not to laugh at them

Chink shit for $15 carries all the same useful functions. Everything else is less useful than using your phone and needs two hands.

Trying not to laugh at you working at McDonald's.

A job's a job. Not too many options as a 15 year old, I just stayed longer than I should've

Not to mention my dad ran the place so I got free food and knew what my boss was going to be like

>my dad works at mcdonalds

I wouldn't admit that even on the internet desu senpai.

I guess this was the next logical step for Apple.
Their business model is to create demand because Apple.

So what's next?

Moto 360 2nd gen owner here.
I love having a smart watch

Working at McDonald's and running one are two very different things. I was working at barely above minimum wage, he had a salary and spent most of his time in an office chair.

For what it's worth user, Sup Forums will shit on anyone for ever being open about anything. I wouldn't read into or acknowledge any of their shitposting about it.

I'm happy to see someone is at least taking their first steps on the economic ladder, and is enthusiastic about it. Enthusiasm and a desire to improve is what'll propel you out of minimum wage, and into learning how to provide value for people, and to eventually doing what you love.

Keep at it user.

Why?

Eh kind of pointless if you ask me unless you need to keep track of your pulse or something. I mean my smart phone and PC do everything I need that's why I never even considered one of these.

Can't believe its AMOLED and still is this bad.

This kind of crap is why it should have waited at least another year before release because its borderline useless when you're not using it like your phone and killing the battery faster than the speed of light.
Its a timepiece on your wrist, worrying about battery life should be the last thing on your mind.

>put it on charge every night
Some people find this acceptable which is fair enough for them. Realistically its pretty poor and inconvenient. Normies forget to charge shit which is why whenever I'm out with anyone I hear or get asked if I have a portable charger because yes, even though we were scheduled to meet, these people did not think about whether their phone will last a few more hours.
That problem will be worse with something you should slap on your wrist and forget about..at least that's what I imagine.

>pebble time
E-paper is the way forward. Also shit is cash when it refreshes at 60hz, can perform smooth aneemayshunz and various other basic tasks on a 100mhz CPU.

>Bookmarks
I don't even use FireFox, and I know those are tabs.

People liked them enough to buy a bunch. Their splash in the public consciousness was woefully short-lived though. I rarely see anyone even ragging on it anymore. Simply forgotten.

Do you retards know what technology is becoming? I am glad I get to be a step upove you all, and can manipulate my sheep. :)

Some people got them, but I don't really see many from apple.
The android ones can barely last a weekend and all they do is tell you what notification you got.
Might as well think all notifications are important and pull out your over sized phone.
If you want one because you want to tell the time, you are better off spending the money on a old watch, then it at least looks good.

Personally can't wait for the Time 2 to go retail.
I use my Pebble (Original) as a dumbwatch with custom faces and that shit lasts 40 days with Bluetooth turned off on a single charge. Used to only last 25 days before the new 3.0 Software updates.
Bigger screen + color will be absolute perfection.

>Normies forget to charge shit

I will never understand this. But yea you are right, I experience this every week

Man the bezel will finally be shrunk to an acceptable size, its so good they heard out and improved it.
Slightly upgraded CPU too which (although still single core single thread) should be relatively capable with multitasking so it might pave way for more things running in the background or whatever.

Everything else that was good is kept, its physically almost identical in size, battery life and build is like the time steel ie metal, waterproof to at least 30m and 10days battery life huueeeeeee. Still will run same os with same features so backwards compatable and support for ages woooh. Can you tell I'm excited?

Not like battery life is even ultra shit anymore, most phones will handily go 24hrs+ no problem but STILL IT PERSISTS. I would like to quote someone:
>how do you live consistently on the red percentage, do you ever charge your phone?
>I just dismiss the low battery notification when it pops up because it gets in my way, and then I forget to charge
JUST
U

T

>I just dismiss the low battery notification when it pops up because it gets in my way, and then I forget to charge
literally this. Not to mention that the first pop up on 20% hardly gives you more than a few hours.

Also:
>it's so hard to tell from the battery icon
"Why don't you just activate the percentage indicator so you get the actual value?"
>it's so hard to read and it doesn't tell me how many hours there are left

> plugs in power bank for a quick and healthy 5% charge
> unplugs to show me some stupid pic on instagram
2 minutes later
> gets 20% notification again
> plugs in power bank once again

One charge lasts 2 days for me if I have 55% before going to bed. If it is below that, I charge my phone over night and I can't comprehend how normies are unable of performing this simple procedure. They use their phones so much that they'd have to charge it every night anyway

pretty much useless but i got it as a gift so i can't complain, wear it sometimes.

>Just get a Pebble. Way cheaper and good apps. I will get the Time 2 as soon as it comes out. Battery lasts 10 days and it has a heartrate sensor.
I have the Time and love it and I'm going to upgrade to the Time 2 for the smaller bezel (the current one on the time is kind of fuckheuge).

I get a lot of notifications so I get 5 days battery life but the important thing for me is that I don't have to remember to charge it every night. Even if I forget and it goes "dead" it goes into a mode where it keeps a simple time watchface for another day. And it charges in around ~30 minutes so if I see the battery life on my watch and I know I'll be at my desk for 30 minutes, I just plug it into my PC.

allahu ackbar?

...sure

>it'd last you the entire day.
that *is* piss-poor for a watch

i charge my apple watch every 3 days. granted i don't use it heavily, just to check the notifications, and tell time. i'm okay with the battery life but something like pebble's 10 day battery would obviously be much better

seriously though, what do the terrorist letters at the bottom of your watchface say in real language

>normies
>normie
>normies

They just don't even get it, right?

death to the infidels

>I heard there's Chink Shit out there for like $50 and about as good.

That's true of literally everything

Paid $150 for a moto 360 with the metal wrist band, absolutely love it. I would never pay Apple Watch money for a smart watch. Basically my moto has the same functionality, though with Android (which my phone is - a Nexus 5X) but costs literally half as much. Wireless charging, battery that lasts through the day, doesn't even feel that sluggish all things considered. I like it, it's handy.

But do I need one? No. I don't. But I don't want to be without one, the functionality is something I have gotten used to and now I feel frustrated íf I can't check my text messages/fb messages or emails on my watch. If it's something urgent, I'll see it and reply immediately. If it's something unimportant, I can just ignore it and deal with it later when I feel like it. I can also send text messages when I'm driving or doing something that prohibits the use of my phone.

I have seen one baby-faced tubby dweeb with one. That's it.

>I thought Apple marketed that it'd last you the entire day.

Mine can last me 3 days of normal use.
I take it off when I go to bed though, and it just charges on my nightstand, so battery life has never been a concern.

I'd be happy with a thinner design and less battery life really, having week long battery life on a watch you take off once a day anyway is kinda pointless.

I have one. I fucking hate it. I can't sell it because it was a gift from a relative who'd get offended if I got rid of it.

It takes the same amount of time to look at the watch + wait for the screen to turn on as it does to take my phone out of my pocket and turn the screen on myself.

The screen is too small to do anything useful with. The wheel thing is useless and just gets in the way.

Half the time it doesn't even connect to my phone. The fact that you NEED an iPhone for it to work is fucking disgusting.

If I can ever sell it I'm going to just get a pebble. Or a regular fucking watch like a sensible person.

who takes their watch off at night? silent alarms with vibration motors are one of the best features of smart watches, especially with sleep tracking so they wake you up during the lightest point of your sleep cycle so you aren't drowsy all day

the date in iranian calender

My store sells more of those than any other apple product

>A job's a job. Not too many options as a 15 year old, I just stayed longer than I should've

You are not allowed to browse Sup Forums if you are under 18.

It's simple, really - smartwatches just aren't cool. Rich people aren't gonna buy them bacause of Rolex, Omega etc., poor people aren't gonna buy them because they're expensive and trash, and as much Apple wants it, fashionistas aren't going to buy them because Apple Watches look like an ugly toy.

I think Apple made that watch because everyone expected them to, kinda like every other company right now is jumping hoops to release a phone without a headphone jack to appear innovative.

I can see that, but like how

mentioned, it's more about what YOU do. If you need to be in constant communication, or need to save that .2 seconds to check your wrist instead of the object in your pocket, the these meme watches are for you.

I can see them being useful for quickly glancing at notes giving presentations, texts and messages, or telling assistant software what to do in a cool way. Aside from that they're pretty useless, can't think of any other reasons to own one.

I was talking about when I got the job as a 15 year old, you fucking dumbasses. I'm 20 now.

The apple watch came out 4 years ago?

No, but I worked at McDonald's for 4 years

>The fact that you NEED an iPhone for it to work is fucking disgusting.

Wait... the watch needs an iPhone nearby? What? What the hell is the point in even owning it then?

I'm also sick as shit of technology these days. I spend all my time in front of some kind of screen, and now Apple wants you to carry around 2 of their devices?

My friend got one and wore it for about two weeks and then stopped.

It's just totally stupid because a lot of the notifications require you to take your phone out of your pocket anyway.

A really expensive step-counter.

just like it can set off roadside IEDs

>Two clocks on a watch

lmfao Apple come on

that's the same philosophy behind most of the sansa clip+/zip rockbox themes thrown together in two hours

It's a device to complement the phone, not a replacement for the phone

It's a notification machine. It's useful if you're out and you know you'll be getting some kind of notification because you'll notice it more than in your pocket. If you spend over $100 on a smart watch, you're a fool
