I'm trying to distance myself from Google as much as I can. What's a good alternative to Gmail?

Your own e-mail server.

Is the Dell XPS 15 the way to go if you want a gayman laptop? I have a 500 GB SSD in my current laptop that I can just put in it so the slow storage isn't an issue.

help

Shitty site for not supporting ipv6. Try using a proxy though.

Razer recently released a laptop literally named "The New Razer Blade", that might be worth a look.

I literally just saw LinusTechTips video on it, that shit costs $2000 compared to the $1200 XPS 15

>using a proxy on a private tracker
>recommending razer

>>using a proxy on a private tracker
It's a reasonable thing to do if you just want to access the site because of it blocking ipv6.
>>recommending razer
Admittedly Razer is pretty bad, but honestly they've been getting pretty good in the past few months with that open source VR shit. Haven't been following the company a whole lot though, so I don't know much about the company as a whole other than that they make gaming products.

Shit, yeah. Well, depends what kind of gaming you'll be doing. The XPS 15 has a 960M graphics chip, which is decent. What are you exactly planning to run?

Is there anyway to bind a key on a logitech device to ALT+CLICK

AutoHotkey

I need to buy a new video card for this motherboard:
Abit AN52 motherboard, fits a PCI-E X16 card.
(Can't post link for some reason)

What would be the best bang for my buck?
I found this one newegg:

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA30R3Y40463&ignorebbr=1

Anywhere else I should check?

Autohotkey doesn't pick it up as a key.

cab you stop using a tripcode please ?

Nothing more demanding than stuff like Overwatch and some triple A games but I don't need to max everything

Should I install win10, 8.1 or 7 on a 5 year old dual core athlon whatever the fuck 3GB ram radeon 3200meme integrated card?

I already have a linux

>Should I install win10, 8.1 or 7 on a 5 year old dual core athlon whatever the fuck 3GB ram radeon 3200meme integrated card?
>I already have a linux
then why would you install windows ?

Debian minimal with DWM.
Shitty machines with light WMs are nice.

cuz I also need a windows
I've never had win10, or 8 just wondering if thats a worthwhile thing to experience.

Does the operating system recognize it at all, or does it all depend on the drivers?

The ABSOLUTE best "bang-for-your-buck" graphics card would probably be the 750ti. You should probably wait for Nvidia to announce their entire 1000-series first though.

You'll be able to run it at Medium-High settings.

I find that using a tripcode is convenient when helping people. I only use it on the /sqt/, which is where it's convenient, so I don't see how there's much to be annoyed about.

Windows 7, then use the registry to disable Windows 10 upgrades.

10. 7 will be quite a bit slower.

How do you fix the "Forbidden or Private"shit on embedded links? Using chromium and appchanx, It's weird because it happened before while using firefox on a linux machine and now I'm seeing the same bullshit on a windows machine with chromium.

>Does the operating system recognize it at all, or does it all depend on the drivers?
Don't know.

Tried seeing if SharpKeys picked it up but it doesnt.

will it really?

Which operating system are you using? Should've gotten that question out of the way first.

Is this on *all* YouTube links? Try this video to test, it's definitely a public video:
youtube.com/watch?v=Ie9qomn3_3U

It'll probably be a bit slower. I find Windows 7 nicer though. It all comes down to preference, really.

you shouldn't touch windows 8
About windows 7 and 10, I don't think there is a difference in performances, you won't have improvements. It depends if you want to try the latests toys windows made for its users or if you want to use the latest good windows version which is 7

>mic doesn't pick up properly in many programs when plugged into sound card
>when fully plugged in, mic sounds normal stereo on monitor but in voip programs sounds like a double mic boost is applied and mic output volume is almost non-existant while being extremely blown out and distorted
>mic picks up in all programs if mic is plugged in partially (forcing double mono vs stereo?)
>mic cable is going from mic amp to line-in on soundcard
>mic cable is stereo

wut do

>Which operating system are you using? Should've gotten that question out of the way first.
Windows 7

OH and while were at it its a Logitech G602.

I'd really like to bind G7 to ALT+CLICK

>The ABSOLUTE best "bang-for-your-buck" graphics card would probably be the 750ti. You should probably wait for Nvidia to announce their entire 1000-series first though.

I need something fairly cheap and immediately. Do you have any idea if a card like this:

amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-2048MB-Graphics-02G-P3-2619-KR/dp/B00847TPH0/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1466546514&sr=8-5&keywords=PCI-E X16 video card#Ask

Would be backwards compatible in the previously mentioned motherboard?
(PCI-E 1.0 x16)

yes user, it's in all those and also twitter links or whatever link gets embedded. Happened before on a linux machine using firefox and appchanx and now it's happening on a windows machine with chromium. I gave up on firefox on the linux machine and I'm using also chromium and it works and shows the link title. The windows machine stopped doing it a while ago.

You might be fucked and stuck with the Logitech software. This might help though:
askubuntu.com/questions/152297/how-to-configure-extra-buttons-in-logitech-mouse

Operating system?

GTX 610 is REALLY shitty, but it'll work.

Cookies disabled? What sort of tracking settings do you have?

PCI express is backwards compatible.

>GTX 610 is REALLY shitty, but it'll work.

I totally believe you, but the price looks nice. Do you have anything else you can recommend in the same price range?

Thanks!

Its literally only good to provide a slot to plug a screen into, you can go cheaper.
newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130602

Windows 7

Here's what it sounds like in other programs like mumble when fully plugged in
clyp.it/b0c5t4rr

Nothing I can really recommend. If you can get the $100, though, I VERY HIGHLY recommend the 750ti. Literally 10x better for only 2x the price.

Can you screenshot your mumble client's input device settings?

Will it be able to handle lower end games like minecraft and stuff like that? This is an old computer I'm fixing up for my nephew.

I'm simply wary of bottle necking and making a purchase like that seems like a waste. The rest of the parts in this computer are very very old.

...

not sure if it is better here or at pglt
anways:

Is it problematic to change the motherboard and cpu of a linux homeserver without reinstalling all the shit?

>Will it be able to handle lower end games like minecraft and stuff like that?
It'll be able to handle minesweeper, maybe.

Click on the device list and screenshot again

Not unless the architecture changes, then you're going to have to start recompiling your kernel and all the software.

...

The GT 610 is actually half the speed of the minimum requirement listed for Minecraft.

Cycle through each of those and ask people which one works. I'm 99% sure that at least one of those works.

so let's say going from my xeon 1265Lv3 and LGA1150 to a i7 3770/LGA1155 would work just fine?

Are Grados in any way liked by Sup Forums anymore?

>Will it be able to handle lower end games like minecraft and stuff like that?
It should on really low settings. Minecraft will run on a potato if you aren't overly picky about settings, resolution or FPS.

Don't do this shit to your nephew, see pic.

It should. Wouldn't depend on it though. A few threads ago user was able to upgrade to an entirely different architecture and have little to no problems, but was running Windows, which uses the NT kernel and not the Linux kernel.

Just mic works. But same issue. If I plug in the mic the whole way its like I have a guitar amp and someone turned every knob to max and then turned volume halfways to 1.

Go to this configuration window and speak into your mic while it's fully plugged in, do any of them work?
Also, is this a mumble-specific problem?

Recently my Toshiba 1TB external HDD stopped working. My computer acknowledges it as a "External Drive" but I can't actually access my files or do anything with it. The little white light goes on but then off after several seconds, any help? I have TONS of stuff in there I cannot lose. Might be related but my retarded cat knocked the drive down a bit while it was connected, I can still feel it reading through the casing.

Now you know why you should make backups of important files roflol

You can try taking it out of the enclosure and plugging it in directly, but if the computer is reading its presence when its plugged in I wouldn't be too optimistic

Make a backup next time.

What is private tracking.

No and it happens in every voip program. I tried disabling them all too and that doesnt work either. But my mic works perfectly in say Adobe Soundbooth like I showed in. I tried switching out the cables and the soundcard through amazon. Could both soundcards be identically broken? That seems strange.

This is the cable I bought.
amazon.com/gp/product/B00WZQVGWS/

This was a backup drive I was going to backup. I'll just figure something out.

your files are long gone

Dude he's like 9, he won't even be able to notice the difference between high and low settings. Literally all he does is play minecraft and watch letsplays on youtube.

Did it disconnect when the cat knocked it down? When the white light goes off, does the disk still appear on the computer?

I see 3 possibilities:

A. Hardware is fine, filesystem got damaged from the surprised disconnect when the cat knocked it down. Chkdsk would fix this.

B. The SATA/USB adapter part in the disk is damaged, but the drive is fine. If you open it up and remove the drive, and attach it to a SATA-to-USB adapter or put it into a new enclosure, it will work again.

C. Drive is damaged. Basically you're fucked. You can look into professional data recovery, but that costs a fair deal.

Minecraft is relatively graphics-intensive. A 610 WON'T be able to run it.

A 730 surely will then?

...

I have a 730M in my laptop. Minecraft runs pretty darn well. 1080p, 60 FPS, I only see less when poorly optimized rain causes it to drop to about 50 FPS.

A desktop 730 is more powerful than a 730M.

>Minecraft is relatively graphics-intensive
Top kek. I guess my Core 2 era Intel GPU is a lot more powerful than I took it to be.

Thank you. I'm going with this then:

amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Profile-Graphics-02G-P3-1733-KR/dp/B00LJZQEV4/ref=sr_1_26?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466549423&sr=1-26&keywords=Nvidia GeForce

Im on a budget, so I was thinking a g4400 + compatible motherboard. Is there any other CPU + mobo combo within the $110 range or less?

outlook. It's not a weird one that no-one has ever heard of, and being using for business they do not spy on you

>reading anything a tripfag has to say

>A 610 WON'T be able to run it.
if my 9800GT can run a heavily modded mc on max details then 610 will do it

It's below recommended requirements.

I personally use Outlook. not too bad/10

That should be a good card for someone that age.
Good enough that if you were to get him a game or two on steam that is more demanding then minecraft then he probably could run it on low settings.
Don't think you're going to get better for the price.

Any tips on storage archiving?
Should i build a nas or burn everything in dvd?

610 is just fine for low settings
also it's not like its a rule, i've run many things that shouldn't work good on my PC
years ago i thought that burning discs would solve all my storageproblems. oh, how wrong i was...
go self-made nas or invest in external HDDs, whichever option suits you better

I just got this popup when I went to my "promotions" inbox in gmail.
Should I be scared?
I clicked the close button.

Why does upgrading nginx replace my index.html?

Worked for Clinton

What is a good full image backup program?

Depends on what you're going to use it for.

dd

Last question folks.

I'm getting confused by the different versions of the 730 card.
GDDR5 or DDR3?
64 bit or 128 bit?

Here's a GDDR I found that's in stock:
amazon.com/MSI-GeForce-OC-Profile-N730K-2GD5LP/dp/B00R2M10SU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1466550746&sr=8-2&keywords=EVGA GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR5

And I've also been considered the different options for the EVGA 730 that I linked before:

amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Profile-Graphics-02G-P3-1733-KR/dp/B00LJZQEV4/ref=sr_1_26?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466549423&sr=1-26&keywords=Nvidia GeForce

name: nigger
pw: penis

As a former 610 user, it will run minecraft.

If you're buying a 730, it doesn't matter because you're obviously not getting it for the performance.

anyone has an insomnia shell account invite? I want to give it a try

what about windows tho

GDDR3 or 5, doesn't really matter, just as long as it's NOT regular DDR3.

And the bit width dosn't really matter either since the memory isn't going to bottle neck a GPU of it's speed.

thanks user, you were right. Cookies for googleapis.com was blocked on this machine and not on the config of the linux machine.

I just noticed that when I connected my
iPad 2
to back that up, my computer wasn't able to read my tablet until I removed the HDD USB cable from the USB port. Could it be like you said I may just need a new cable?

What tracking(packages) app is good? I dont need gps i dont need 5000 providers. I just want a simple, type in my routing number,it beeps when its updated, and dosent have 90% of the screen being ads. I checked fdroid but there was nothing for tracking

Is LaTeX used at all in "industry" or in the work environment?
I want to compile all my notes better, and was thinking of using this as an excuse to learn LaTeX, but I might just write it by hand instead if only mathematicians use LaTeX.

Also, imagemagick isn't closing. I keep trying to close out of it, but the window is still there. How do I ctrl+alt+delete with linux?

used EVGA supernova 1050 watt psu, guy wants me to make an offer. $80 sound fair or can i jew him down to $60?

Does a 0dB GPU make the rest of components in your case hotter due to the higher idle temp.

My 4790K idles at 40 Celsius and before my GPU upgrade it idled at 30 Celsius.

Load temps are roughly the same, max is 70 on both the CPU and GPU, but the idle of the CPU is nagging me.

webglfundamentals.org/webgl/lessons/webgl-fundamentals.html
>follow this tutorial
>get the error "createProgramFromScripts is not defined"
What do?

Dont buy used psu.
Dont buy used anything except fans and case

Bruh
Idle and load temps are fine and lower then most

I should add, this is just by running the first chunk of code by copypaste with some shaders defined in the HTML.

i buy everything used unless it's just as cheap new. typical Sup Forums user scared of craigslist and ebay deals.

guy said he'll do 70 picked up.

Enjoy it frying your system in a month of constant use.

Its not a fear, its an intelligence check.
Would you buy used toliet paper/paper towles?
Would you buy use condoms?

So, I'm being a poorfag and I'm trying to solder a new switch into my mouse to fix a double click issue.

It's going shitty. I don't have anything but a soldering iron, no wick or even a solder sucker. The switch has three pins and I can't get them all to go liquid at once. So it's slow going. but the real problem is I can't get the new switch flush with the PCB.

Is there anything stupid simple I can do to make this easier?
