Upgrade for ???

Should I go ahead and take the plunge to upgrade my Win7 to Win10 before the free time is over? What would be:
>privacy concerns
>ways to combat that privacy concerns
>my ability to still torrents "stuff"
>turn off (non-thiqq) Cortana from learning my procedures
>Ways to play games older than Sims 4 and Skyrim
>not reeeeeeee

Upgrade to Linux

It's not an upgrade.
>privacy concerns
A lot, constant transmission to microshill taking everything you do
>ways to combat that
None. You can install antibeacon shit but it doesn't completely board you off and it resets every update. Including microshill actively trying to circumvent this type of software.
>ability to torrent
unaffected, not likely to get caught still
>cortana
can be turned off
>play games older than bla bla
more than likely won't work with a lot of games

Not to mention it's broken shit, always breaks in some way and is the OS of cucks

>privacy concerns
Are you retarded or something? Too afraid of botnet meme. Read google privacy policy and think about that

really makes you think.... ... .

Can I play the upcoming Deus Ex on Linux?

>retard
well he is asking on 4chins of all places, so....
>but you're here too
"Life's big questions...."

>A lot, constant transmission to microshill taking everything you do
Yet nobody has ever actually backed up that claim with data. FUD.

The only reason to upgrade is for DirectX12, which is only important if you want to play the latest vidya games on a good graphics card.

Otherwise, it is riddled with botnet/spyware/ads, shitty UI, bad compatibility with old programs.

$0.005 has been deposited into your Microsoft account

No words for that comment
Win10 cucks really deaf, blind and can't use Google

One example.. windows 10 statistics that they came out with to advertise it. How could they have even known any of that without tracking

I'm on 8.1 and I might consider it. I tried it before but didn't like it. I have the Windows 10 Key from the last install so I can do it any time really.

Sure, but where's the actual privacy invasion? You use Windows 10. Big deal.

youtube.com/watch?v=xDeHqiydk4A

just stay on win7
i use win10 at work and everytime microshit has a somewhat major uptade shit breaks and we need more registry hacks to fix it

asidefrom how often explorer simply crashes

That usage statistics is not just how many people are using, it's how many people have done what, opened what applications, have set calender events which means they track all that

>insider build
That's the deal.

sf2mx8yG7Z

>Linux
>Games
Pick one

But!
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I have Windows 10 and I can still torrent. You must live in a shithole country

BACK THE FUCK OFF????!?!?!!1

Take your quads and leave senpai.

Yes. Do it within the last 30 days or so, and if you don't like it just roll back. If you are super paranoid about privacy, do not upgrade.

...

>on daz loaded win7
>hold on until i have to
>pirate win10

I have to update to direct x 12 for work so no choice. My biggest pain was installing programs again. I will be updating motherboard soon but apparently it's easier to get genuine on windows 10 using a Microsoft account.

Now that MS is being run by a big Curry eating Paki. I would worry a great deal about privacy for these reasons. India and pakistan have no copyright infringement laws that are easily prosecuted by western companies. Like all giant curry eating shitskins satya nadella is corrupt as fuck. he would rip your companies off without even blinking

HOLY FUCK
checkem
guy must be telling the truth
This is now a fact

...

Windows 10 still has too many driver problems.
Besides, Windows 7 cd keys go for like < 10 bucks. There is no need to even pirate that shit any longer.

Yes. You just have to do a bit more work to get it working correctly. It's not hard, just time consuming.

Install GNU/Linux.

Turn off all of the stuff when going through the initial setup, then turn off everything in settings. Privacy is fine.

I have yet to see something that worked in 7 not work in 10, so your games are fine too.

Is this the new SQT?

OP is a M$ shill

>What is Wine/PlayOnLinux?

Not OP, what about windows 8 if i want to DX12

>That pic

So someone made a program that takes all of the options already in Windows 10, splits them into multiple toggles and put them in one place, plus one or two silly things like turning off the password reveal button(Which has existed since 8, and doesn't work if you leave the password box).

This shit is just silly.

Shit

>Should I go ahead and take the plunge to upgrade my Win7 to Win10 before the free time is over?
Yes. And the free time will never end user

>Should I go ahead and take the plunge to upgrade my Win7 to Win10 before the free time is over?
This is what they call “schmuck bait”. Some idiots would walk into a trap if there was a pile of dead, mutilated bodies in front of it.

Thanks user! I bet all my games are going to work now!

>Using proprietary shit to turn off more proprietary shit.

>privacy concerns
Read their privacy policy. They're going to collect "vital" data regardless of your settings, you can't fully disable it.
>ways to combat that privacy concerns
Not installing it in the first place AND not installing recent Windows 7 updates.
wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Talk:Windows_10

Supposing they update the telemetry and other features without telling you. These things are easier and more convenient .

According to my country''s laws they'd be committing treason. I doubt they are that stupid.

Half of this shit spewed about windows 10 is American land of the free shit they can get away with. Contana doesn't even work here and they couldn't give the forced update because it would break the law.

Fuck all that. I'd rather use my linux box than have that garbage on it.

>spying on people
>treason
Lel what.

Your best bet is to not ever use it in the first place.
your agreement to the license terms gives them the right to do whatever the fuck they want with their shit.

you

>amerifags think EULA trumps law

>EULA
>trump
>HL3 confirmed

>Your best bet is to not ever use it in the first place.
Your best bet is building your own hardware, protocols, OS etc.

They're literally getting away with it right now. Where's your government now?

Not using temple os.

>using a literal schizo's project OS
Fuck off with your CIA nigger memes

>EULA
>TRUMPS LAW
Every lawyer knows that EULA is basically worthless, you can't just give up your rights.

In which country is data privacy a human right?

It's a license just like the GPL. Try fucking with code that's free and making it proprietary or trying to steal MS code, I fucking dare you.

Did you understand what I said?
"RIGHTS THAT YOU CAN'T GIVE UP"
makes EULA worthless.

And I quote from a steam person (steamcommunity.com/app/262060/discussions/0/612823460274162910/)

"You're mistaking a CONTRACT with LAW.

Countries do not 'enforce' EULA. EULA are a contract between 2 parties. That contract will stipulate whatever clauses it has. Countries do not 'enforce' the EULA because contracts are not LAWS.

Again the EULA is a CONTRACT not a law, is thus not 'enforce' by a country, it is a binding contract between parties that they agree to. "

Pretty much every civilized country, it's only a question of what data counts as private and what doesn't. Sadly in many cases the legislation is still stuck in early 20th century.

>steam folks are lawyers.
ok, kid.

Seriously? I quote from "mega.nz"
"No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence.
Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 12 "
Not just a country bud, but the universal human rights BUD. Please don't argue with a family full of lawyers

Kid??
You know nothing user
I stay user, you stay user
Also this is Sup Forums and if I go to a "lawyers perspective" I get banned for posting non Sup Forums related stuff

You can't contractually give away your rights, idiot. A contract that violates the law is non-binding. You could, for instance, sign a contract that basically makes you a slave, but if the employer tried to take you into court for violating it, they'd most likely get slapped with heavy fines if not imprisoned and in any case the contract would get thrown out of the window.

>Not just a country bud, but the universal human rights BUD
lmao, did space aliens from alpha centauri vote on this?

Please stay with Sup Forums stuff, and no flame posting.

Nope, just the retarded bunch of people in the UN convention thinking
Hey look, Universal Humans Rights is a good name!

“EULAs are unenforcable because muh human rights” is a stupid fucking fallacy

“To use this product, you must kill 1000 infants first” is a perfectly valid EULA because it's not your human right to use the product in question.

(What's NOT enforcable is “by using this product you agree to give up a human right”)

>Not just a country bud, but the universal human rights BUD. Please don't argue with a family full of lawyers
So Facebook is illegal in all UN countries?

Holy hell, how hasn't it been shut down?

Do you even know how laws work?
They only work when someone enforces them, and UN is doing badly at it.
EU is doing badly about its laws that Britain got out of EU

i tried it and didn't like it. having upgraded from 7, it was just entirely too ugly for me to tolerate. seriously, windows 10 is ATROCIOUSLY ugly, even more so than 8. everything is just worse. the performance ?may be? a little bit better, but it wasn't really any different to me in that regard aside from starting up faster

>video games
you have to be 18 to post here

Do you use android or iphone? They're doing same thing collecting your data calls/sms logs browser input url and your photos and no one lose their mind

>Do you even know how laws work?
Yes, whoever has the most money wins

Since most tech companies have headquarters in Ireland they are bound by Irish law. You can thank them for all the this website has cookies messages. I think some guy used Spanish law as a basis for the google right to be forgotten. If windows 10 is doing all this spying shit they will be taken to court and it will be illegal in the eu soon enough.

>User control over Windows Updates was removed. In earlier versions users could opt for updates to be installed automatically, or to be notified so they could update as and when they wished, or not to be notified; and they could choose which updates to install, using information about the updates. Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise users may be configured by an administrator to defer updates, but only for a limited time.[116] For example, in its Canadian licensing agreement, users of Windows 10 "may stop receiving updates on your device by turning off Internet access. If and when you re-connect to the Internet, the software will resume checking for and installing updates."[117] Under the Windows end-user license agreement, users consent to the automatic installation of all updates, features and drivers provided by the service, and to the automatic removal or changes to features being modified or no longer provided.[118][119][120]

wowzers

still not going to use it
fuck that

>They're doing same thing collecting your data calls/sms logs browser input url and your photos
Your service provider also does this. And their equipment have backdoors anyway, so it's not like privacy ever existed.
>and no one lose their mind
>implying
Literally part of the huge NSA scandal. They can even sent fucking dronestrikes based on your SIM card's location, having a phone in the Middle East = living under crosshairs.

I'm using it and delayed for long like you op. At first you cringe a bit, but if you're a casual you'll be fine.

just kms activate it
