>So, will this cutie blow 480 out of the water?
Probably not. It's only 15% better by Nvidia's own tests. Remember how two RX 480s 'beat a GTX 1080'? Those are the only kinds of tests that are used here, no exceptions.
>GTX 980 performance for what, 250 bucks?
That would be amazing, but if the 960 and 760 are any indication it'll be more expensive than AMD's comparable offerings.

It'll be more expensive than a 970.

Async?

That would put it at $300, and what person would get 980 performance when they could get above 980ti performance for $75 more?

Idiots.

No shortage of them around.

I don't think idiots are buying GPUs. I mean you could argue they were the ones buying the 970 over the 290/390 but I still think they value price to performance.

>gtx 1060 at gtx 980 performance

Blow what out the water the fucking 480 shuts down PCs doing high load because it draws 200W spike from the PCI LMAO. Only a complete mouth-breathing imbecile would buy that DOA card.
youtube.com/watch?v=rhjC_8ai7QA

Literally a meme. If you faggots are AMD shills buy a fucking 390 and stop being retarded.

They clearly are given the 970 and 960 are the most used cards according to Steam. The 970 being a meme card and the 960 being the worst x60 card Nvidia has ever made.

>The 970 being a meme card
At least it doesn't shut down your PC if you're playing a game.

Go get your 10 rupees Pajeet.

s-should I buy one? I need to replace my old gtx670 sometime this year

At that point, why not spend the extra $110 and get a 1080?

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127895&cm_re=980_gtx-_-14-127-895-_-Product

It fucking better be 980 tier or above if the rumored $250(3gb)/$300(6gb) pricing is true. And if not, they better cut the price to compete with the rx 480.

Well seeing how 480s have an issue with drawing above-spec amounts of power which could put them in the danger zone if overclocked...

would a 1070 be close to a 980 base in terms of performance? 4k ready?

welp that is cheaper

A 1070 is better than a 980ti mate

If you want 4K I highly recommend getting the 1080 because I struggle @ 3440x1440 (21:9 1440p) on my 980ti

4K is a buzzword for retards, currently no card on the market is able to run games at 4k maxed out at 60 fps, not even dual 1080.

Actually I can, without AA (which is unnecessary considering 4K gets rid of aliasing)

Unfortunately benchmark fags count AA as "max"

yea I kinda fucked up there, I'm not expecting to get 4k monitors but I might be looking into one or two 2k monitors at some point

>when they could get above 980ti performance for $75 more?
Which card are you talking about here?

No aSync till 2018

1070
if you get it at MSRP once they drop the founders shit

I got my 1080 for $609 which was $10 more than MSRP but it has a custom cooler

I'd much rather have the 1070 windforce at $430 than a 980 ti LE.

The 3GB reference model might be $250. As somebody who just got rid of a GTX 780, I wish you good fucking with 3GB VRAM even at 1080p.

>rumored $250(3gb)/$300(6gb)
what rumor, there's only speculation.

>Those are the only kinds of tests that are used here, no exceptions.
That graph was retarded and it probably wasn't made by Nvidia.

I find it hardly improbable that Nvidia is boasting a 15% increase in performance over 480, planning to release it at 125% of its price.

The owner of the largest UK web store said earlier that he's expecting them to be priced at £300. And you'd think he'd know, given he'll be selling them in a week or two. That's going to mean at least $300, given that we're paying slightly less than the dollar price (in absolute terms, rather than converted) for the other Pascal cards.

Fucking retarded. Yeah, just go with the 1070 at that point.

MSRPs:
660: 230
760: 250
960: 300

Nvidia's got to be genuinely retarded to price it at 300.

Not really. They know that people will pay it. The 1080 is apparently selling faster than the 970, despite the fact that the 970 was great value and the 1080 is gouged to fuck.

Nvidia won. They own the market. People will pay whatever they charge.

I bet AMD Saphire ETC did extensive testing before release.

100% its either Overclocking combined with either crapp Mobo or some cheep brand 600 watt PSU

Every computer should start from the PSU and end with choosing the correct stepping RAM.

>a 600w PSU is insufficient for a 150w TDP card

They can't undercut AMD or they'll get sued by ftc

>cheap 600W PSU

>cheap

You'll get 970 performance at 1080p for $300.

The cheapest are around 500€ where i live

They don't need to undercut Nvidia, sell the 1060 for $240 and they win but having the 1060 cost 75 less than the 1070 is fucking retarded

He doesn't know the price either its just speculating. The 1060 won't be powerful enough to sell at $300.

And the 970 will have .5gb more VRAM.

You're delusional if you think retailers don't know pricing 2 weeks before a product launch (something they've likely bought and paid for)

>$75 less
The GTX 1070 is $450 m8.

I'd take his speculation over yours, friend. And we already know that the 1060 will be around 980 performance. Nvidia can easily get away with selling that at 970 prices. In fact, it fits in exactly with the rest of their Pascal pricing. The 1070 is 980 Ti performance for 980 prices.

Nvidia have kept their advantage over AMD.

But there are enough retards here on the board and elsewhere who continue to hype up the RX480.

If it's as powerful as a 980Ti and priced

>tfw about to blow 350 euro on a used 980ti msi gaming

Feelsgoodbrah, needed something to replace my 780ti and AMD didn't deliver

The 480 is good. It just needs an 8-pin and a better cooler. The aftermarket 4GB cards will cost only an extra $20. So $220 for 980 performance.

The founder's edition is
Wait for AIB cards, I got my 1080 with a custom cooler for $609 so I'm sure there will be 1070s for $375 like they said

If he had ordered them he'd say so already. No one even knew it existed until wednesday.
Its not even informed speculation, read the comment and hes just basing it off fitting it into the price lineup instead of performance. He rightly didn't imagine Nvidia would have nothing at the 970s i.e their most popular card ever, price point.

>GTX 980 performance for what, 250 bucks?

It'll cost $300, with $350 for the founders edition, and it'll be out of supply so hard that you can only buy it for $400+ on ebay.

This is the future you chose, midrange cards cost $400 now due to Nvidia monopoly.

I don't think it will blow anything AMD has old or new out of the water. I'm sure it might be able to keep up with an old 7950 perhaps but maybe not. Read they're gimping it with 4GB/6GB versions too which is a damn shame. Nvidia has always been more of a joke on anything but the best card. I'd love to be surprised though and see some actual Nvidia mid range offerings that lasted more than a year though. It just hasn't been the case in many (six? seven?) years.

3GB/6GB versions not 4GB meh.

The 1070 is 980 Ti performance so how the fuck is a card with 50% less CUDA cores and a 192-bit memory interface gonna be anywhere near that? The card will perform exactly the same as a 480 for an extra $100.

>aftermarket 4GB cards
that wont exist cuck

>tfw waitfagging for the RX 470
1080p, 60 FPS, on medium settings is good enough for me.

>so how the fuck is a card with 50% less CUDA cores and a 192-bit memory interface gonna be anywhere near that

By driver gimping and paying the reviewers.

There are already AIB 1070s. They are still around $450.

Didn't know the specifications were already out. Still, if this card was reasonably priced and much more powerful than the RX480 AMD could pack up their shit and leave the home consumer market.
One could say they already have.
The issue with the 970 vram is not the capacity, it's that all the vram slows down once the second .5gb partition starts being used. The 970 would be a better card if it legitimately only had a single partition of 3.5gb vram.

The 1070 is a bit above a Titan X.

They go as low as $400 already, and all the AIB partner cards aren't out yet.

Because you know, retailers can totally talk about what they buy from manufacturers before they're even announced

He's allowed to talk about it hypothetically since it leaked.

I generally play Paradox games and other RTS/Strat types for years at a time. Same boat really. Nothing besides Star Citizen perhaps that would warrant some horsepower. FPS besides Overwatch/Insurgency/CS are kind of dead on PC imo. Granted this always wasn't the case as I was a SLi fag for a few years and still played FPS and others plenty.

>I only read the first 4 words from OP's comment

$217 for the RX 480 8GB blackplate version. Nvidia has to come in at $250 and thats going to be for what the 3GB version.

ayy, your graphing skills are shti mate... here thake this fixed version.

Yea a fucking gimped 3GB version that won't even play a kid's game like Roblox well.

If he were under NDA he'd say that too retard.

Link please.

Love how all the graphs don't start at 0 that I've seen so far.

$30 max discount you dumb

Yes there will. You act like AIB cards are a big deal. They're not, they are the norm.

It won't be, because Nvidia is not even really competing with AMD. They have the mindshare, there are lots of people who won't buy anything AMD ever so it doesn't matter what they bring to the table. Nvidia knows they are going to lose some of their market share this gen but they don't really mind. They just want to minimize it. The 470 will be $150. it'll be around 10-15% worse than a 480. Think Nvidia will release a card that strong for $150? I highly doubt it.

Looks like a Jet coupon so hit up Jet.com. I picked up some 500GB 850 EVO's off them for 108/109 a piece.

Link as requested.

maximum discount $30

...

That's because those are all fakes. Real one here.

Lol, even with the full bar, that efficiency is pretty bad on amd's part

I've generally found the Gx106 cards underwhelming. They can't OC for shit and their memory bandwidth is too limited.

I suspect the 470/480 cards with a proper 8 pin power adapter and good cooling will be better.

>jet.com/product/XFX-Radeon-RX-480-RX480M8BFA6-PCI-Express-30-CrossFireX-Support-Video-Card/236c89e0b16141b39709e7282ba5fd11

Holy fuck it's actually the 8GB version

The reference card costs less than aftermarket cards for AMD. The reference 480 (and all reference cards) are shit and nobody should buy them. Hypothetically, if the $300 is for the FE 6gb 1060, then aftermarket 1060s will be on par with the 480s in terms of price. If not, then the 1060s will cost more, and also perform better/consume less power, so the price/performance will be on par. This is all just early speculation though.

The 980 Ti is about equal or on par or even better than a Titan X. So this comparison is meaningless. There are a few $400 1070s, but most of them are around $450.

nvidia always does retarted graphs just like amd nothing new here

Stop sucking dick.

Thanks for correcting me and not being mean about it.

So the final should be 225.66 at jet.com

The 1070 still outperforms them both.

>waaaa Sup Forums is not the hugbox i thought it was
fuck off reddit

They're getting shittier with their codes, used to be 20% $50 max.

Not by a significant margin. The point being, there is absolutely no way the 1060 will be anywhere near a 980 Ti and you know this.

$220 for the 8GB RX480

damn senpai, it's so shit, they'll soon hand it out for free.

don't forget another $150 for a new mobo

That's the RX 480 STBNE

(soon to be nerfed edition)

stay mad cuck

There's almost a 10% gap between the 980TI and the 1070.

And yeah, I know the 1060 won't be 980TI tier either, I'm just correcting you about the 1070's performance. 102 to 111 fps difference is almost a 10% difference.

this

you'd be fucking delusional to think the 1060 could beat a 980. that's a tall order.

Can you please stop.

When's the release date for the 1060? I need comparisons on the paper a 480 would be stronger...
Btw I read that they changed names and that's the 1050 and a 1060ti will be the original 1060...
If its above 300€ for the 6gb ram non reference cards I'll probably get a 480...

>there are lots of people who won't buy anything AMD ever

I think that's because Nvidia have spent ludicrous amounts of money over the last decade to build "relationships" with publishers and developers in addition to their gigantic R&D budget. Nvidia made it clear that they care about the very performance top end and cut down their PCBs from there while AMD has been building alright mid-range cards and kept overclocking them until they reach 90°C and have to auto throttle. When you have the strongest cards on the market you attract a very specific type of customer. The type that wants that ultra high fidelity, max settings, 60+ fps experience(i know how pretentious that sounds) and those customers can't stop talking about how great the product is, also those customers being streamers/youtubers with 5000+ viewers and millions of subscribers turns them into influencers so the customer becomes part of the marketing.

AMD don't have the budget for either, the marketing or the R&D so they exist purely thanks to the budget gamers with 150 dollar GPUs and the contracts with Sony and Microsoft for the PS4 and the Xbox One.

>RX 480 confirmed for graphene transistors.

honestly I'm thinking of getting a 280x just so I can have some decent fp64 compute
