good, spinners are the best bots.
Last battlebots season had too many shitty robots and only like 2 good spinners (nightmare and tombstone).

I can't wait for Tombstone to wreck all these faggy vertical rotators

dis gun be good.

there's no point in making anything other than a vertical spinner or a flipper. Nothing else ever wins.
I just noticed the vertical spinner meme is particularly strong this season.

Nightmare is a fucking joke, they just keep bringing it back because it looks kewl
I wish there were more piercing robots, IIRC there was one in the first episode who didn't win just because it was unlucky enough to grip the other bot right between the body and a wheel

>Nightmare is a fucking joke
True, but it used to actually win against other robots when it could self right.
Now it just kinda flails about after the first hit.

I blame them removing the disc and replacing it with this weird cut up triangle disc thing.

btw who won on lockjaw vs yeti?

Yeti, Lockjaw missed its first flip attempt and apparently the coil system the guy came up with couldn't recoil back so it just rammed Yeti around for the rest of the fight, judge decision made Yeti winner.

is he autistic?

>simple but effective spinner
>rekts shit everywhere

yes

It would almost never self right. If it fell over it was done, it lost as much as it won. It just banked on the other bot being shit.

It actually has a self righting mechanism this year.
Its legs the wheels are on actually inverts itself.

They really want to show it off, the only reason he got a wildcard.

The fucking joke was that weird dual spinner that spun downwards at like 200 rpm max from last season.
What a fucking disgrace. They really scraped from the bottom of the barrel to find that team.

Bah Yeti deserved to lose.

>is he autistic?

Yes, but not for reasons you are thinking of.

He is a nice softspoken guy who gets along with all the other bot builders.
He is fucking autistic because he was asked to be a villain in the show, and he said "ok" and allowed them to film him saying dumb cocky stuff.

Needs more walking bots

Did they test this thing at all?
Any vertical spinner has to at least anticipate some gyroscopic effect fuckery.

Lockjaw did almost nothing the whole match, Yeti disabled one of Lockjaw's wheels. You really had to see how useless Lockjaw was to understand.

Lockjaw stopped yetis drums like 5 times with its jaw. Lockjaw manhandled Yeti, had complete control over yeti and held it on the screws and under the hammer.

Lockjaw outdrove and overpowered yeti so fucking hard, and yetis weapon did almost no damage (other than the wheel after lockjaw had a motor failure)

Yeti didnt deserve the win at all, And there is a reason Lockjaw got a wildcard

lockjaw also fried one of its drive motors near the end.

Lockjaw started smoking too. They had a good match though. The other matches ended in a KO 10 seconds in.

Also hope this worthtless prettyboy loses the wildcard pick. His robot is total crap but somehow keeps getting by.

ありがとう医者!

Maybe I'm not understanding the way matches are scored, but the screws and hammer did nothing to Yeti though. Yeti was just as fine after all that time on the screws as it was from the start, whereas Lockjaw was at the verge of being disabled by that initial strike from Yeti.

What comes to my mind now is how in the original series (from way back when) the environmental hazards used to destroy bots, so just setting your opponent on a ride of the screws and having them come out unscathed means you failed to me.

I don't remember that

Environmental hazards are pretty harmless in the modern show, it's a shame. And they gave Yeti the victory for using its primary weapon the most. Apparently that grants the bot a shitton of judge points.

Yeah, it really is a shame. If they reversed the direction of the screws it really would beef them up I think.

> Lockjaw was at the verge of being disabled by that initial strike from Yeti.

How do you figure that?
He fucking broke his own flipper, Lockjaw flipped upside down but runs fine upside down. Not even close to being "disabled"

His motor burning out was because he pushed yeti around so fucking much.

You get points for control, you get points for using the hazards. Lockjaws whole weapon is to hold onto the other bot and push him around.

Holding a bot under the hammer should score just as much as hitting lockjaw with his drum. It doesnt matter how much damage is done, its about getting the hits in.

Its unfortunate that Lockjaws motor blew (which had nothing to do from Yeti). He clearly was the better bot, better driver, and had a better match.

They are using Titanium armor and shit now.
Bots are just so much more expensive and stronger now

That front wheel was the one that took the hit when Yeti hit Lockjaw and sent it flying. Obviously there's no damage report, but seeing that area take a large hit, then seeing it disabled later in the match, makes me think that hit was part of what caused it to break.

Complete Control is fucking boss, it's so refreshing to see fire actually damage another bot

It's not Battlebots but I fucking loved watching this fucker destroy everything in Robot Wars.

There's a couple of similar bots in this season of the new Battlebots, but none of them have actually destroyed another bot with the claw thing. Probably a mix of shitty driving skills and low clamping power.

It was exciting as fuck just seeing it clamp down with tons of force and never letting go. Was also great that it had counters for those annoying as fuck flipper bots. I haven't watched any robot shows in many years though.

We should start our own team I think our minds could make something truly deadly

Great, I'll make the logo.

Most likley

Yes

Just use larger wheels

Never that's not walking that's wobbling

Would be cool it the claw closed faster

hmmm, needs more power

It's coming back this year, the British one.

But the slow chomping was the most satisfying part

Two huge blades? Bot works exactly the same upright and upside down? It must be invincible!

WTF, is this just Americuck Robot Wars?

why not just make a stationary robot with lasers

Where Can I see more videos?

the show is capped by release groups nigga check your local newsgroup

why not have a bot that kills the operator

Fucking hell. What could have been a decent bot turned into an absolute joke. This thing lost against Plan X I think. Some aluminum sheet metal go kart, basically.

why not make a flying drone bot that drops molten lead on its enemies

Someone tried having a drone with a flamethrower underneath. It was really hard to control and didn't end up really doing anything before crashing.

>bot squirts oil all over the arena
>opponent's bot can't get any traction
>free win

>write an autonomous program for your bot
>equip it with an rf jammer
>free win

Why not have a jihad minibot?

what are the rules on secondary robots? it doesnt seem consistant

>make your bot the heaviest
>equip it with an electromagnet
>opponent's bot sticks to yours and can't do anything

Does that count as a win?

You can have any number of multibots as long as their combined weight is under 250. If you have a flier, it must be under 10 pounds unless they give you an exemption. Only 1 bot needs to have an active weapon

>your robot breaks
>millions of autonomous microscopic robo spiders burst out
>deconstruct your opponent at the molecular level and convert its mass into more robo spiders
>free win

>humanity and the entire mass of the universe is converted to micro bots

Flawless victory, champ for all time.

>get DQ'd for going over weight limit

anti-vertical spinner bot when

>newsgroup
Go to bed dad

All of these are against the rules

Weighted gyroscope with bearings and powered wheel inside a metal sphere when

Razer was the darling of Robot Wars, but if you youtube search you'll find that he lost... to Tazbot.

and how do you attack?

So... BB-8?

One of these machines but on a smaller scale. Maybe a shovel front end that scoops them in.

Robot Wars was the shit, I know the people who made Stinger and have seen it run.

>spray liquid nitrogen on enemy robot
>spray fire on them
>watch them explode

The patriarchy, now in bot form

...

Nets do the trick but they were banned after this battle.

Spray them with that foam shit

>it's a "concept is too big for its britches and fails miserably" episode

Just build a robotic kraken that wraps around its opponent and then rips it apart with its steel tentacles.

there is a time limit for how long you can pin them

They really went outside the box, but as a fighting robot that's the worst thing since ChiaBot.

Why can't there be a bot that picks the other bot up with its hands and throws it into hazards?

I take it electromagnets, EMI, and trying to actively short your opponent out is against the rules right? E.g no ignition coil shenanigans.

This was just embarrassing

Against the rules

Plenty of robots do that as a secondary weapon, but the hazards just aren't hazardous enough

A wedge mini bot that traps the other bit plus a death claw main bot would be cool.

>make robot with usb plug
>inserts it into the opponent robot's usb port during the fight
>uploads virus
>free win

Is using mecanum wheels against the rules? I haven't seen any battlebots with mecanums.
