I have ECC on mine. Still freezes to shit every now and then, although it's nothing to do with the RAM.
Anyway, both your motherboard and CPU needs to support ECC. In my case it's unbuffered (which should be most cases).
ECC is a bit complicated, user. But it's good for something which will be running 24/7.
