Whats better in monitors for gaming: the IPS or whatever the bright screen technology is called or higher refresh rate...

whats better in monitors for gaming: the IPS or whatever the bright screen technology is called or higher refresh rate? As far as i know high refresh rate is useful for CSGO or some other fast shooter, kinda seems useless for playing singleplayers and such no?

Why would you get a high refresh rate why the human eye can only see 24 pepes per second?

Neither. Just get the cheapest monitor you can find.

It's like buying a £6000 golf club set when you're not a professional.

It makes very little difference to you and unless you have nothing better to spend it on it's a waste of money.

...

>that low quality bait
I know that you want to call 144hz TN Panels a meme, but at least step it up.

144Hz TN panels are a meme. They won't help you play games any better.

They won't make me automatically play better, it makes the movement in fast paced games feel a lot better though, lot more fluid, even desktop feels better by just observing the mouse movement and general objects in the Explorer enviroment, like a fucking Window of some random application moving around.

You're pretty retarded if you think that anyone thinks they automatically go from amateur to pro by owning one.

If you own a 144hz monitor and you're used to it, and you go to 60hz, shit literally feels like being used to 60 and going back to consoles playing at 30fps with motion blur.

everyone who says that 120+hz is a meme is either trying to shitpost or just never tried a 120+hz monitor.
those things are even worth it just for smooth desktop/internet usage.

It has NOTHING to do with playing or whatnot, heck I only play sp games in the first place but fuck I wouldnt want to miss those sexy frames once I got a taste of them.

there are also 120hz ips gsync/freesync monitors but I wouldnt get an ips one, get a regular tn panel. if anything ips is the meme here.

144Hz makes a huge difference, even for general desktop use. People who can't see the difference are literally too stupid to enable the 144Hz mode (pic related).

i have a 144hz monitor, but i can't see a difference after 125 fps, so i probably should have gotten a 120hz screen instead.

it's a major improvement over 60hz, though. i tried playing at 60 fps again and it just looks like everything is stuttering.

when i played l.a. noire, which is capped at 30 fps (i didn't know this at first), i thought my gpu was broken or something, it's that bad.

Really makes you think...

Personally I think if you can't tell the difference up to 240 Hz you shouldn't be allowed to drive and shit

What about the 165hz IPS panels? If you buy one of those you don't have to compromise between the refresh rate and the IPS colors, but I have heard that they suffer from really bad backlight bleed and also IPS glow.

You won't notice a difference after 60hz. You will not enjoy anything less than 30hz.

Been thinking of getting a new monitor. Would like to use it for mostly graphic design and gaming. Would you guys recommend one of these monitors?

IPS for doing anything color oriented. 144hz for strictly gaming.

I hope that this is bait.
People who unironically claim bullshit like this are basically mentally retarded.

They make literally no difference but they're nice to look at. Considering Sup Forums spends majority of their life infront of a screen I don't see it unreasonable to splurge on top end monitor. It's not like you're changing your monitor very often.

>I wouldnt get an ips one, get a regular tn panel. if anything ips is the meme here.
Confirmed never seeing an IPS monitor ever.

I had a DELL U2412M, which is a damn good IPS monitor, then bought this benq xl2720z for 144hz, which has a pretty good quality TN panel, but it's TN, and such a big fucking stepback, but I couldn't change it back, since 144hz is just so fucking smooth everywhere, 60hz at work seems like lagging now.

So I can't go back to 60hz, but I can hardly bear with TN either.
Right now my only option would be a 27" 144hz IPS 1440p, but thats so fucking expensive, and I don't want to go 1440p yet.

>24" 1080p 144hz IPS
>27" 1080p 144hz IPS
Why the fuck these don't exist? There would be clearly a pretty high demand for cheaper 144HZ IPS displays.
I've seen many people looking for this on forums.

I hope this is bait.
People who unironically think they see more than 30fps are basically mentally retarded.

>the human eye sees in frames per second
>the human eye is analogous to modern monitor / camera technology

I hope THIS is bait.

1 Pepe = 100Hz

2400Hz seems about right.

Phew, it has been 30 degrees celsius in my room for a month now, but I wasn't sure until I've read this thread that summer is here.

I prefer a GOOD tn panel over a IPS.

TN pros:
Faster reponse time
144hz+
Can have equal color reproduction and just as crisp of image as IPS
>darker blacks with no bleed or IPS glow
Cons
>viewing angles arent as good as IPS

IPS is the biggest meme ever. If you want to use it only it a bright room, and never want to game or watch movies, then go ahead and get a IPS panel.

>still arguing that the human eye can see over 30 fps
It's pretty obvious you are baiting.

>going from 144 to 60 feels like 30
LOL go back to playing CSGO, kid.

>has never used an IPS panel

I heard all 144Hz IPS monitors have terrible color and backlight bleed, is it true?

>144Hz IPS monitors have terrible color and backlight bleed
144Hz and IPS has nothing to do with the issues you've mentioned.

It's a manufacturing or design issue.

My 120Hz TV only accepts 60Hz

The contrast ratio on IPS is absolute shit. Having blacks appear as grey makes your image quality look like ass.

But color reproduction and viewing angles, yeah it's good.

That doesn't change the fact that the two currently available models, the acer xb271hu and the asus pg279q, both suffer from these issues, especially the backlight bleed.

Also, it is correct that backlight bleed is not inherent to IPS panels, however IPS glow, which looks similar to backlight bleed, is inherent to all IPS panels.

AMOLED screens w/ 144hz for arena/competitive shooters, idk about single player games.

how many levels of irony are we on, here

what the fuck shitty ips are you looking at? Black levels are also largely contingent on whether the display is matte or glossy.

these manchildren will defend their XTREME PRO CSGO MEMETIER 144GHZ monitor till death senpai. you can't argue with these ppl

But they literally teach that in school as a truth.
