Since its July 6 release, the nostalgia-inducing Pokémon Go has taken over all aspects of users’ lives, including their porn—and possibly their Google accounts.
The security risk was first pointed out by Adam Reeve, who works for RedOwl, a security analytics platform. Reeve not only revealed that Pokémon Go is gaining full account access, but also detailed what that means for users whom logged into the app with Google accounts.
The issue arises because users need accounts to play and can only log in with accounts from pokemon.com or Google. Reeve and ZDNet reported the Pokemon website wasn't allowing for new registrations, so people feigning to catch 'em all were left with no choice but to log in with Google accounts.
According to Reeve, a message detailing the kind of access he was granting the Pokémon Go application didn't come up after he logged in. He was only able to see the app had full account access when he checked on his Google account.
Google is totally going to end up using all the data gathered to map the inside of homes, places of business, and supplement data collected by their maps cars.
People are willingly walking around doing tens of billions of dollars worth of work for Google in exchange for a laughably empty and shallow AR game.

>it's being fixed
That sure makes it more trustworthy, yes

Matthew Murphy
As expected, nothing to hide faggots come out of the woodwork.
Christopher Gutierrez
prove it's untrustworthy
Google doesn't own them anymore
Aiden Morales
apparently google users store porn in their email inbox or on google drive.
Ethan Butler
It's Google, a Jew-owned company. That is all I need to know

It has access to your web browser, history, and all your bookmarks as well. Its incredibly far reaching. They're pulling every bit of metadata possible from all users.

> run by John Hanke (Google maps, Google earth) > owned and funded by Google from '10-'15 > "separates" during creation of Alphabet Inc > immediately receives influx of $30 million from Google to "support development"
C'mon son.
Gabriel Walker
>Google doesn't own them anymore actually that's a good question. They are not owned by google, but are they owned by alphabet ?
Luis Edwards
I know you do, so, here's your: (You)

No they're independent now. They still seem to be close with Google/Alphabet but not actually owned by them
Aaron Cruz

Jesus Christ shouldn't you be planning for retirement grandpa?
Luke Sullivan
I already am. Browsing at work, child. :)

No surprise there. Actually, there kind of is. I thought this game was meant to simulate a civil war and the DOD would pay for the data, but I figued they were funding the game in the first place. But I suppose that money would be a lump sum rather than a contiunous stream of revenue, and they need to keep the servers up until they can get enough data on territorial gains to sell.
Jordan Sanchez
>access to your Google account I couldn't give a fuck. I only use it for Youtube. I have a hotmail account...
Don't tell me it access that as well please...?

Can't you sign in with a pokemon trainer account though? Then you won't be giving them full access to your Google account.
Brody Gray

Ethan Butler
They have new registrations off, something about servers and shit.
Jack Nguyen

>incorrect use of whom I hope they fire whoever the fuck wrote this, and any moron that was supposed to proofread it.
Pokémon is trash, Pokémon Go is worse than trash, this article is worse than Pokémon Go, and this thread is worse than the article.
Noah Campbell
I barely use that email for anything anyway. People call me a tin foil hat nut job because I encrypting my data to protect again theft but insanity is building a shelter after the war begins. If you own a cell phone, house, car etc. you don't get to be paranoid about this shit. Three-letter agencies don't give a shit about you. You are not that important. You are not Osama Bin Laden. Are you afraid that this data will become compromised? Well here's a news flash for you retards; nothing is 100% secure. Everything has potential security holes.

don't make it on that website, retard. there's another site which lets you also make a pokemon club account and it still works on the app.
