Sup Forums honestly
don't know why I still come here

anyone know how to get around websites asking you to change your password?

>made a tumblr account a few years ago with a throw away email
>recently deleted that email account because i didn't think i had any use for it anyomre
>accidentaly logged out of tumblr, when i tried to log back in they asked me to change the password
>realise they're sending the password reset link to a non-existent email account
>am now locked out of my tumblr, even though i know the current password

did i lose my account?

>websites forcing me to use SMS 2-step verification

just give me offline based verification like FreeOTP or google authenticator for fuck sake twitter. Everyone is getting hacked left and right because hackers social engineer telecom and phone carrier network into switching your number to a new sim that the hacker has

>Windows updates
>Software constantly telling me to subscribe to premium
>Apps telling me to rate then on the app store (I always give them one star when they ask more than once)

...

>we are using cookies bla bla bla
That pointless shit is everywhere in the EU.

>this

especially on mobile browsers when the pop-up takes up the entire fucking screen

>>constantly telling you to give them your phone number for """""""security reasons"""""""

Oh, I finally get that """""gayshithere""""" meme now.

Fucking this

>>apps constantly forcing you to change your password
use a password manager
>websites forcing you to sign up to read an article
Any site that does that shouldn't fucking exist. I won't use the site if it did that.
>constantly telling you to give them your phone number
I use a random one that's fake. Works when I need to buy something or other.

Remake the email if the name is not being used again? I'm just throwing stuff out here

>Tumblr
Who cares?

I had the same problem, except the email account still existed, and I never got an email.

>using the smiley with a carat nose

>>apps constantly forcing you to change your password
You should be changing your passwords every few months anyway if you care about security. Password managers make generating new passwords easy as shit.
>>websites forcing you to sign up to read an article
Use a temp mail address.

>>Windows updates
Install a GNU/Linux distro :^)
>>Apps telling me to rate then on the app store (I always give them one star when they ask more than once)
Use F-Droid.

Legal reasons, nothing they can do about it.

And?

REEEEEEE

>using the smiley with a carat nose

>constantly telling you to give them your phone number for """""""security reasons"""""""
This is a legit reason though. Unless you want to be locked out from your account

>repeating stale memes expecting them to become funnier
>:(

Google capchas tbqhwymm(to be quiet honest with you my man)

that's actually a really good idea, i'll try it

not trying to be funny
im trying to stop everyone from using that stupid fucking smiley

fuck, turns out I have to wait two months before making another account with the same name

Well apparently you're having a good time blogging here

What exactly is wrong with this emoticon, and emoticons in general?

>make throwaway emails all the time
>usually just make gibberish user names like "bdjdudjdjsjd" and a ''''real name'''''' like Ejfbf Oeurhf.
>recently google changed their shit so you cant have nonsense usernames anymore
>whenever I log into my youtube google begs me to change my username to something pronuncable
>try making a new gibberish email only results in 'nope. Cant let you do that, David. Now I need a new name and your cell phone number."

Just let me have my gibberish throwaway emails, you fascist spies.

it looks ugly, it tries to bring back the deprecated "nose" position in the smiley, and the people that use it generally have shit opinions who think using that smiley somehow mitigates that fact

Just use 10 minute mail instead of Jewgle mail.

>Can you transfer my emails to the new computer?
>yeah, do you know what your email password is?

your country passed the law. they would have to actually repeal it after exiting the EU. don't count on it.

I swore off high-level languages forever because of my rage at this. Everything should be micro-optimized in Assembly to be as fast as possible. Wirth's Law is real.

What is the point of being forced to change my password every month?

Seriously in wich case is better ti reset the password? I cant think of one

When the app updates itself.
When the app constantly asks for your permission to update.
When the app doesn't update.

Call me crazy, but I hate all of these things equally.

For simplicity's sake let's assume you're a retard and use a numeric password with up to 9 digits, that's 1111111110 combinations (with and without leading 0's). The chance of his first guess being correct (assuming your passwors is random and the program tries random keys) is 1/1111111110.
He starts trying out combinations, noting the ones that didn't work so he doesn't try them again.
After an hour, his program has tried 10000000 of the keys, leaving 1101111110 keys. So his chances of getting the key right with the next guess have increased to 1/1101111110.
If you choose a different password, then there is a chance that the new password is one that's on the "invalid passwords" list because the cracker tried it when he old password was still the correct one. That means the chance of him getting he correct key after you change the passqors is reset to 1/1111111110 assuming he simply cycles through the "incorrect" ones after he's done.

I always go for Ben Dover

I hate those.
