Picked this up from my local pc shop yesterday, about to install it into my pc.
Did I do good or should I have gotten 3x 1tb in raid 0? The raid option would have cost 60 dollars more

1tb drives were $79, but this was on special for $180, down from $199
Seagate? More like 40% failure rate.
I don't get it
biased tests that he will show you
>3x 1tb in raid 0
>over 3tb hdd
are you fucking stupid
Maybe instead of buying a new 3GB HDD for your useless porn collection you should have invested some of that money in a real pair if slippers, you flip-flops wearing faggot!
Thongs are fucking awesome you cunt
3xHDDs in RAID0
It's like you want to lose data.
>Seagate
I hate them with a passion. Of all the failed/failing disks I've seen, about 75% were Seagate. (n= ~45)
I have 3x 1tb seagates in raid 0 at home. All second hand drives too.
You're mentally retarded then aren't you?
>raid 0
This has to be bait
It's just a WD shill, ignore him
top kek
>mfw 2x 150GB raptors in raid 0 for my boot drive
I couldn't care less, they were free from a friend and they don't lag far behind budget tier SSDs
3TB drives have the highest rate of failure among all manufacturers. Should've gotten a 2TB or 4TB drive.
It was mostly because of the flooding that occurred as 3tb drives were hitting the market resulting in new technology under less than ideal manufacturing conditions, recently produced 3tb drives should be fine
>raid 0
just get ssd.
Yeah I'll just go out and buy my super affordable 3tb ssd
$60/TB? Disgusting.
Drives regularly hit $20/TB now
Not op,but those prices look pretty Australian to me.

Why is your thumb so small
It looks like someone surgically switched your normal hand with that of a baby
a bit critical dont you think
Maybe he has small hands?
Because he is underage.
THROW THAT SHIT OUT
EVERY 3TB SEAGATE FAILS WITHIN 2 YEARS
CONFIRMED 100%
Sealed bag of tears
over 20.00 for minimal material seems excessive.
>Seagate
No it doesn't
mine still werks after like 4 years almost daily usage. still wouldn't recommend anyone to gamble with their data.
toasting in a bait bread yay
I can see how his data will get kapoot in just one desync
>raid 0
why the fuck would you ever do that unless you're a mouthbreathing brain-dead cocksucking video-game-playing manchild mongoloid piece of shit?
One larger partition is better than 2 or 3 smaller ones.
It's also going to perform better
Raid 5 instead for that parity.
Also, considering many drives have 2-3 platters, why isn't there a raid controller inside the drives that stripes data onto the platters. Better yet, a tri-platter drive with parity.
Or do they already?
Heads don't move independently, so that would be 2-3 seeks instead of 1. You'd also lose capacity for pretty much no gain. You'd probably increase the likelihood of losing your data since the drive would wear out faster.
I'm not so sure.
The heads don't need to move independently, you'd write data to each platter at the same time, and read them the same way. Keeping the heads bonded together would be a good thing. Moving independently would be bad news.
In raid 0 there would be no capacity loss, in raid 5 (on a 3 platter) you'd lose 1/3 of your space but be better protected from failure. The same would happen if you used full drives, it works exactly the same way, just on a smaller scale.
How would the drive wear faster? Granted, there would be more computation going on in the drives controller, but (at least in 0) there would be the same amount of data written.
Hope you've got a good backup strategy.
Seagate? Never again.
>Drives regularly hit $20/TB now
Do you manage to order them before you wake up from your fantasy world?
Seagate 2TB Desktop Gaming SSHD(Solid State Hybrid Drive) SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST2000DX001) amazon.com
Is this good
I need a drive for my games
Can't tell which drives have the failure meme and which don't help
That is the single most fucking stupid thing I have ever heard someone suggest on here.
My hand is pretty small too, sucks because I need small mice
I used to use and sell seagates exclusively and they were fine drives. The moment they changed their warranty from 5yr or whatever it was down to 1-2 they started failing at horrendous rates.
Do you have reasons to back up your claim?
So far I have found nothing to explain why this wouldn't work.
Im with you, I buy the WD 1TB off newegg for $50. Havent seen any better offer than that
no they don't
