/guts/ Thread
Some one started one just before you, but, yours is further up in the queue, soooo, I'll reply here.
Enjoy my poor lighting.
Here i come
Ayy here he is.
Also, posting a random photo of the new build in progress.
The most stylish case ever made
Prove me wrong
That cable management sure isn't stylish.
want to get into the silent case meme for my next upgrade, should I go with Fractal Design or Coolermaster?
Let's see if I actually post the right pic this time.
I'm seriously contemplating changing out the AIO for a air cooler again. For multiple reasons, but the two key ones being the the X61 fans are loud, plus I hate CAM, and also it seems like this generation of graphics cards are fucking huge and will interfere with the radiator since these two reference are already all up in it's grill.
Despite how much I love it, I'm starting to regret the S340. There's no clearance for a high-end heatsink. I'm considering now the top-down spiritual successor to my old C12P, the NH-C14S.
>implying those wre just the cables evga shipped the psu with
I can't justify paying €30 for 2 (two) pcie cables
I wanted to make a small build for my old setup.
So I looked for mITX motherboards for lga1156.
There were none.
I'm basically just looking for a lighter and less obscure case.
What do.
red/black memers where we at
It's not a matter of what cables they are. It's a matter of not letting them hang around like an old guy's dick.
...
I used to only make black and red builds for myself. But not everyone has them and, even though black/red/white are still my favorite colors, it's not as fun not standing out as much anymore.
As nice as ever
Shame you're moving on from ITX. Looking forward to the new PC though
just take a picture with the GPU in
nice work on the USB3 cable
ayy its here
you better fix those cables though, your last case had amazing management
nice GPU cables
nice mod though, it is a nice case
fractal all the way
good to see you're falling off the AIO meme
>lighter and less obscure case
Cheapo Zalman cases
tiny as fuck, cheap as fuck, metal as thin as tinfoil, so light as fuck
>sag already
get a mount if your going to buy a brick of a gpu
>you better fix those cables though
I would if i wasnt too paranoid about breaking something
>Shame you're moving on from ITX
Yeah, the NCase is pretty kick ass. But, I won't be able to get the overclock I want and have an NVMe drive run within operating temperatures. Plus my 980 isn't as powerful alone as I'd like, so I may pick up a second in the new build. If I find one cheap enough.
Woah I have the same specs as you, even the same case. Not running Botnet 10 OS though, and I don't have an SSD yet.
Hows that 6300 treating you? I overclocked mine to 4.3Ghz with a small vcore increase, it makes a very small difference tbhonest.
>Hows that 6300 treating you
pretty shittly, but all i play is 07 RS so it doesn't make a difference
holy fuck that GPU is massive
What's the status of the new build?
I've wanted to do this forever.
Does the brace really help?
Back when I first got my CLC. Oldest part in my build.
You stopped posting this for awhile. wb
Man some of you guy have nice rigs. Im currently using an htpc which while it looks nice as fuck, provides zero cable management. Is there any subtle windowed cases that doent look like rice shit?
What case? Also what is on the back of your motherboard?
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX. If you're referring to the green PCB with the heatsinks, that's my M.2 boot drive. It needs heatsinks or it'll thermal throttle because M.2 drives run hot as fuck right now
>nice GPU cables
ye going all spaghetti
>nice mod though, it is a nice case
thanks
>It's not a matter of what cables they are. It's a matter of not letting them hang around like an old guy's dick
The thing I don't want to bother with those cables since I don't plan on keeping them. The case doesn't have any "cable management" in mind since it's a Powermac G5 case with a custom motherboard in mind. Hence I have to actually think hard as to what to do with them
It would be easier if I just got two super short pcie cables going straight from the GPU to the PSU
>closed loop watercooling
>when high-end heatsinks and open loop exist
you goofed, color scheme is wonderful nonetheless
>I've wanted to do this forever.
just grab a working powermac for $30, a dremel tool, epoxy and let the magic begin
nzxt s340/fractal define r4
>when high-end heatsinks and open loop exist
S340 has really shit clearance.
>color scheme is wonderful nonetheless
Thanks tho. Pic related before I fucked it up with an AIO.
How do you like those Noctua fans as intakes? 'Bout to replace the shitty Corsuck ones.
...
>Does the brace really help?
yes. It sagged a little bit in my old case, this completely fixes it
Lian Li A04?
Do the individually sleeved cables fit behind the motherboard pretty well?
That's because I changed over to the NCase M1 build after the SSD and motherboard died in that 901 build. This is my most recent build system. I've got the last essential bits for the loop and parts coming the mail. Then I need to decide on a CPU. You case, as well as a few other Evolv ITX builds, made me really want the Evolv. But I still wanted to do SLI, and have better cooling, so, I went with the ATX TG.
I'll likely order a second 980 after I order my CPU.
Can't you simply replace the fans with a pair of noctua if they've gotten noisy? Mine is still really quiet on stock fans after a year of use.
>Do the individually sleeved cables fit behind the motherboard pretty well?
No. No they do not. My side panel bows out. lol
I was afraid of that. I love the case (have one myself) but, the cable management is terrible.
This was before I upgraded to my 750w PSU but the concept is still the same. Hide cables behind anything including the PSU itself.
Evidently you can fix card sag by just routing the PCIe connector above the 24-pin and tie them together.
>buying your parts separately
>risking waiting out your return period to have something faulty preventing POST
>spending weeks building a possible paperweight
Damn...
I planned on using cables that were completely sleeved individually. Maybe that'll work out a little better.
>Not understanding a manufacturer warranty
>Not having enough parts to test new parts independently from the build their meant to be used in
>Spending time on Sup Forums not knowing what your talking about
What do you do for a living?
INB4
>Y O U ' R E :^)
Fucking phone.
Can't you just turn the fan speed down? I have my H115i running at about 900rpm most of the time, fan profile tops out at 1200rpm. I only hear it at about 1500+.
They were OK, but really left a lot to be desired. Anything above 50% was audible, but I feel it was less of an annoyance compared to NZXT fans. Overall though, I wouldn't personally recommend them if you have a filter in front of them. For unobstructed airflow they're good though.
Yes I can. But I just really hate the CAM software. Without the CAM software the pump stays in "silent" mode which is like 800-something RPM.
I just really miss my big fan I think.
I can and it keeps the fluid temperature around ~35c. The problem is it totally kills any airflow in the case. Anything below 65% and there's no airflow to the touch coming out of the radiator.
I considered doubling it up and making it push-pull, but I would need to remove the cable management bar to make it fit, plus it would even more limit my future GPU upgrades.
I'm not complaining about the X61 performance cooling-wise. It's the best cooler I've used. My 4790K is OC'd to 4.6 @1.3v and even under load it never goes above ~45c.
Either way even if I change back to a down draft cooler I won't waste the X61. I'll just throw it in my mother's computer as she's been wanting a new system built.
What I /really/ wanted was to go full custom loop with the Swiftech H240, but it just got such horrible reviews for failures I'm going back to air.
Omg what a sexy case what is that.
Do you have room to mount it at the top? I was considering front mounting my H115i but I would have the same issue not enough intake air unless I crank the fans up. But with my current setup it pulls warm GPU air through when gaming. My liquid temp is normally about 27-30C but hits about 35C when gaming. Eventually I am gonna get a reference card though.
This build was inside the In Win 901. A brushed aluminum/tempered glass case for mITX. They're offered in black aluminum too. They also have the 904 which is ATX and 909 which is E-ATX.
Thats neato, are the side panels glass?
Cook food for people at the mall while I finish my Criminal Justice degree.
...
Thinking of doing a legit watercooling project soon.
They don't make blocks for the 780 anymore but I already have it oc'd as far as I can without a custom bios and it never reaches >65c on benchmarks, and in games it rarely reaches >45c
The main problem is my CPU, it's cool under load but I didn't use my computer for ~10 months, and now when I run benchmarks it gets into the upper 80's usually even with the fans on high. I'm not sure what happened with the h100i but I'm assuming sitting for 10 months had something to do with it. So effectively I can't overclock it.
Planning on keeping the 4770k for a long time and just oc'ing so doing a custom loop will probably be my next step rather than buying another shitty AIO. And when I upgrade the GPU eventually I can just add it to the loop.
Criticize me bros
Love the color scheme
Fuckin nice plumbing
My Fractal brother
Where your GPU at tho
Good choice for water block
Not sure how I feel about noctuas with red but still not bad for a salvaged mac case
Pretty fucking clean
Love how you did the hard droves
Never heard of gainward before huh
Cmon upgrade that GPU already
A PSU upgrade will do you well
Love the cable routing
Put the AIO on the back as exhaust
Pretty unique to see a top-down cooler
Clean. Shoulda kept the memefans on though
Look forward to seeing the finished product
The caps on that board really pop out
Don't know why I never liked how Twin Frozr coolers look from the side
Nice way to utilize a 650. I used mine for my little bro's budget build though
How much you pay for that set? I can't find shit for under $80
That case doesn't give leeway for big cards huh?
Cable management in the backside of that case is a bitch
falling into the cable management meme
The thing is I can just shove all the cables into the back so I less incentive to cable manage
If I do the watercooling I'll finally reorganize them
falling into the cable management meme
xd
I'm about to build my first PC next Wednesday or so...
Any tips /guts/?
You should move that graphics card down to reduce temps.
Make sure you use stand offs, try to cable manage, make sure your fans are pointing in the right direction, dont forget thermal paste, the standard shit. tl;dr dont be a retard and you're fine
Sweet my Fury X is in
clip your toenails, you hairy fuck
but I won't have time now that I can properly drive games on my 144hz display
...
You are d i s g u s t i n g
>guaranteed replies
>tfw your post kills thread.
I thought this only happens to me
not yet :^)
You lucky bastards have some sexy machines
71 degrees is that because it's encased in white plastic.
No that's because it's while playing totalwarhammer at 1440p for an hour.
>980ti
>900p
Only issue being I'll need to run it like this until I get a 240/280 AIO for my CPU next week or so...I should also probably get some dust filters for everything as well when I upgrade the cooler...
Fury X user here. And nah its had room for about an 80cm card at max. The case just has a wall in the front to hide storage and cable management.
Have fun with your Fury X. Also once you get it up and running with the newest drivers, mind trying to overclock it? I just want to compare my overclock to other Fury x owners. And don't forgot about the new Fury X BIOS/UEFI update AMD released.

R9 290
16gb
240gb Intel 730
2tb hdd
Fury Cards don't OC for shit user, you should know that
Fuck yeah I can finally play terraria in high detail at 60fps
Do you have any pictures of the PC with low lighting? thinking about swapping all my fans with white LED ones and I want to get an idea of how much will be visible in the case.
I got an excellent OC myself actually. Excellent for the AMD side at least.
1225 on the core, 535 on memory
What kind of golden chip did you get man
I don't know dude but I know that there are 2 types of Fury Xs out there with differences in circuitry. The ones with ring oscillators are better overclockers, maybe the power management is key.
>Spending an hour forcing on the back plate
I have to laugh and cry at the same time for I know those feels
pretty clean, your case has good cable management
I'm thinking about upgrading from my R4 case to a new one. Are there any like where the PSU is separate from the rest of the case, but still have drive bays?
Should I wait for Vega or get a fury now?
Coming from a 290
If you have a 290 a fury X is maybe 30-40% faster depending on the game, if your display is only 1080 60hz there's no point
Temps are fine, 72 on GPU and 45 on CPU at load. Besides that's the only 3.0 slot on it. Should upgrade to a Z170 though
For some reason, I'm only getting 75 fps in dota 2 minimum settings.
Previously with my 7850 I was getting 100fps, even with my FX 8 core running at 4ghz
very strange
image
I plan on moving to 1440p at least 60hz
The Fury X is amazing for me but wait for vega. Your 290 will support you for a while more.
I'm really waiting for Zen so I can do a whole rebuild, maybe only keep the psu but considering even ditching that for sfx in a extremely tiny build.
250d and manta mini are what I'm leaning at for now though.
that's some weird bottlenecking. You did download drivers right? Also the new Fury X bios did help with FPS in some games surprisingly.
...
Oh if you're going for a mini build, maybe the fury x or nano are the best options. The type of cooler on vega is a pretty big unknown and might be massive.
I have to use my feet to do it...
