GOAT GPU

GOAT GPU.

As a current nvidia user I agree with this on all fronts other than power consumption, but I'm stuck with an oc'ed gt 730 right now so the performance difference makes up for that.

7950 was better price/peformance

hd 6950 unlocked was even better

Best price performance for its time is the 4850 hands down.

Niggas dont remember the 7870 XT?

I literally used a 4850 from 2008 until like 2013. It was strong.

>tfw I got a GTX 260 instead

>just ps4 my shit up

>tfw i havent upgraded my gpu since 2003
Still rocking a GeForce4 Ti 4200

At the time, it was the best die ever designed.
Tahiti is a work of art.

>still running mine
>still haven't found a reason to upgrade
Does every new release I'm interested in at 1080p 60 or 1440p 30

>ps4
>7970ghz
Bruh it's a 7850

No, its not.

The PS4's APU has 20CU on die, 18 are active, 2 fused off. The 7850 is 16CU.
The PS4 chip is also Sea Islands IP, where as the 7850 is Southern Islands.

Had a 7950 and a 280X after that. Great cards. Rocking a 1070 now and hoping AMD will get their shit together in high/top end again.

The 8800 GTX was the card to have for years. The 7970 was good, but, the 8800 GTX was amazing.

Close but no cigar here.

The Ultra was what you really wanted but they were housefires.

>i5 4690k
>9 year old gpu

What is wrong with you nigger?

>that CPU
>that GPU
Please tell me you did that just for the SS and that is not your actual rig

you mean hd3870

Aggred OP, heres some reddit gold.

>PS4
>1152 shaders
>72 Texture units
>32 Rops

>HD 7970
>2048 shaders
>128 Texture units
>32 Rops

>HD 7850
>1024 shaders
>64 texture units
>32 Rops

>HD 7870
>1280 shaders
>80 texture units
>32 Rops

Its literally between the 7870 and 7850 you Sup Forumstard. It's far closer to Pitcairn than Tahiti. The 7970 has 32 CU's, where the 7870 has 20. If its not Pitcairn based, then I'm a flaming goose.

>proving you're a tech illiterate retard when you were just empirically proven wrong

The PS4's IGP has literally nothing to do with the Pitcairn die, you tech illiterate shit eating sub human child.
Its Sea Islands IP, not Southern Islands. It is an APU, not a separate discrete die. 18CUs, not 16 like the 7850.

Not to mention the PS4's IGP has 8ACEs in its front end.
>calling someone else a Sup Forumstard when you know nothing about hardware

lol

>le power consumption maymay

Love this meme, literally a fucking light bulb between Nvidia and AMD cards, which is like, 5 cents per hour of use.

/thread

actually my oced 7850 beats ps4 gpu easily

Where the hell do you live that electricity costs 50 fucking cents a kWh?

7770 is the god tier

AMD golden days

Who still on 7850 here and waiting for a few more gen until replacement

HERE! I have a Radeon 7850 1gb. It really is showing its age, but in a month or so I might buy a RX 480 or GTX 1060.

Though it got a serious boost of performance when running Doom in Vulkan mode. Quite impressed.

It's a HD7860

I still have a HD7770 and Maxing out MGSV and some Overwatch senpai.

Couldn't even run Source games at 800x600 on Linux when I had one

Your sentence structure didn't make sense

4870x2 best hands down

Guys.

What should I get if I want 1080/60 in all current and most games 1 year from now?

I'm probably gonna go for an i5 6600K. I was initially going to get a 1070, but with the new Vulkan results in, I'm reluctant. I don't want that 1070 to lose to a 290 a year down the road, like the 780 Ti and the 79xx series.

Remember when Sup Forums was saying the 970 was GOAT? Even when 3.5 became known people we're still shilling it. Once it's sold out and EoL it'll be the next inline for the "gimping".

The 290 series is the new goat gpu. 7970 was the old one.

290 series benefits immensely from the new DX12 and the Vulkan architecture. Putting it near 980ti tier,

>Sup Forums shilling nvidia
You probably confused Sup Forums with Sup Forums.

I still have an AGP 6600GT in my closet.

We all loved AGP right? RIIIIGHT?

My computer room is the warmest room in my house thanks to my r90.

So what's bang for buck at the moment from both sides?

I know for a good bit the 750ti had an insane ratio, but haven't been keeping track of things since performance seemed to stagnate around the 700 and 7000 generations.

honestly despite the memes the 480 is pretty good for price to performance.

i only stopped using mine in march

Hope that's true, waiting to see if 1060 comes out anytime soon. Or see what is out come black friday. My 760 is chugging along well enough but feeling the age now that current-gen games are well-established.

Lost

I dunno man, the 290x is looking to topple the mighty 7970 as the goat gpu.

r9 290x masterrace senpai

Still have a 9800 PRO in mine without a heatsink lol

>Still rocking a GeForce4 Ti 4200

Wasn't it amazing when nvidia focused on its poorfag lineup?

The ti4200 flew off shelves, even with the ti4400 and ti4600 on the market. People even desired it over those 2...faster memory.

WTF are you talking about r9 290 > r9 290x
