What did he mean by this?

youtu.be/2DonY3AuycE?t=4m26s

Does anyone know the service life of a 6r15 movement?
Also where would I service it without worry?
I'm thinking of buying a SARB. Yes I know it's a "cheap" watch, but I like my stuff to last; especially watches.
Also Cream or Black? Are either of them sunburst?

...

Mark is a cool guy. He seems genuinely uncomfortable flanked by those two autists though.

Yea Marc seems like a very genuine guy, unlike Fatarico sitting there like Jabba the Hut.

>tfw you dropped your open Timex in a dirty woodshop while trying to press it back together in a vise
>tfw particles trapped under the glass
>tfw Indiglo doesn't work anymore

First for dog shit Tag Heuer

>Fatarico

Cute.

Is Archie still good or is it still an everending spiral downwards?

QUICK, WIST WATCH CHECK

PANERAI PHUCKAS

This is why I fucking hate push backs and why I'll never buy another timex again. Give me screws or a screwdown back any fucking day of the week

...

Please don't ruin Sinn like you've ruined Squale. FFS.

Looks like some nigged rigged contraption from the fallout universe. There's a certain appeal to it i suppose.

>get battery replaced for dogshit watch at department store because free voucher
>they can't get it closed again
>they send it in to the manufacturer
>manufacturer sends it back saying they can't service that model for whatever bullshit reason
>be pissed and stick watch in vice
>shatters mineral crystal and the back still won't go on
bruh

Cocks up for ya, user. You did good.

sheeeeeet

If it helps in the future, I got it back on by sandwiching it in cardboard from a food box and standing on it with my shoe on.

I'm sure if I put something around the bezel so the force wasn't going directly through the crystal it would have been fine, but that was years ago. I know better now, both not to do that, and not to buy dogshit.

Shit steel warping from temperature variation?

I want a casio watch that will update time and dst automatically through radio.

What are my options? I don't particularly like the G-Shock look, are there any other Casio lines matching this?

Casio Lineage models

Thanks for the recommendation, but I should have been more specific:

I am looking for digital-display watches only.

I like the analog aesthetic, but I am more accustomed to digital displays.

Waveceptor and Gw5000

Timex B29 Chronograph, circa 1992-93

(This is a stock photo, my band is different)

beat me to it. see:

so i'm keen on getting a yachtmaster ii, but no matter where i read i can't find proof that it's mechanically more secure than any entry level rolex, can anyone here confirm?

Fuck yes OP, that is still my favorite watch.

Still have mine, 14 years and one band repair later.

>mechanically more secure
wtf are you talking about?

Sup /wt/, I have a steinhart with unitas 6497 that I've been wearig regularly for 5 years.

It still runs fine, I only have to adjust the time once every couple of weeks.

Should I get it serviced now or should I wait until the condition is worse.

guess you can't confirm then

the term mechanically more secure doesn't mean anything. what specifically are you trying to find out?

The regatta timer is a complication, the more complications a mechanical watch has the more you can expect to spend on a regular service. Also, more complications mean that there is more to potentially go wrong.

Rolex movements are very good and generally robust, so it is a sound watch. A more entry level rolex however will be more robust.

"mechanically more secure" isn't terminology that will yield an answer since it doesn't have any specific meaning.

awesome, thanks for that. exactly what i was thinking, but i wasn't sure if they put as much effort into making sure their entry level watches were as well made as the more expensive ones, for the core functions of a watch at least.

Will take a look, thanks

Anyone? I thought the SARB was super popular here

Is that a Fervi vice?

This thing is a beast. Watches are tools, and this is an excellent example of one.

...

Nice bezel alignment

Is it true that /wt/ hates digital watches?

No, it's a Google Images vice.

The Sumo would be an amazing watch if the bezel didn't look like shit.
If it had the SKX bezel I would buy it.

what model is it?

not really, a lot of people here have g-shocks. they're just not really discussed here.

>has digital watch
>uses am/pm mode instead of 24h

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I was about to buy a Tissot Classic Dream for 120€ when I read it has a life span of 5-10 years due to plastic interiors.

WHAT THE FUCK.

I guess I'll have to spend 300 if I want a nice overall watch. And now I'm on it, let's buy a mechanical one: I'm constantly reading about problems after the battery swap.

And now that I'm on it*

this is the best pepe there is

mechanical --> automatic.

fuck, I'm that pissed I can't even speak properly.

I've been thinking about buying a watch so I don't have to use my phone every time I want to check the time. I want something that looks at least somewhat good and is fairly durable, because I don't want a watch that will break easily.

Would this Timex watch be good?
global.timex.com/node/78841#collapseThree

In my opinion, it looks decent, and they say that it has a "rugged construction" (whatever that means) and is water resistant up to 50 meters, which sounds good.

Watch is in the pic

Pretty comfy at the beach.

Alpine kikes are at it as usual.

For 300$ you got the Seiko SARB/SARG/SARX series of watches along with the Orient Star line. Hamilton and a few others should still have a few decent models that use the standard and time tested ETA 2824 movement.

Timex are alright overall, though they tick extremely loud.

Plus there are far better options, that are also better looking than the watch in pic related.

Anyone own a suunto here?
The traverse series looks nice but its out of my budget so I saw the cores.
The specs look pretty good but the design looks kinda shit. Its not gshock territory ugly but the paint they use makes it look like plastic.

Worth getting?

Got this ages ago as a cheap drunk watch

Should I replace the two tone bracelet with a red pearl ray

Let us know the general styling that appeals to you, features you like, and what you're willing to spend, and we'll try to help you out as best we can.

Why do we have 2 threads?

The Timex watch was on a pretty good sale, 50 euros now and 85 normally, so I thought it would be a pretty good deal. One online watch store in my country has a sale going on, and they have some of the watches on sale. The sale is not the deciding factor of course, but it's always a big plus.

I'm not really certain about the styling since I've never owned a watch, but metal wrist bands seem unnecessarily difficult to adjust, and they might get a little cold during winter, so I'm not sure if I want one. I like the look of the Timex watch I posted. I don't want a watch that is too "sporty" because those will probably look stupid with regular clothing.

As far as features go, nothing fancy is needed. I just want a clock strapped to my wrist, but extra features are not necessarily bad. As I already said, I want something that is somewhat durable so I don't have toworry about it breaking too much. I'm not planning to go diving or anything with it, but I'd still like something that won't break if accidentally submerged.

As far as price goes, I'd like to keep it under 60 euros, but I'm willing to go a little higher if it's really worth the price. As I said above, the Timex watch is on a pretty good sale so it seems like a good deal.

Because this one isn't full of a tripfag's autism.

Irony.

>The Timex watch was on a pretty good sale, 50 euros now and 85 normally, so I thought it would be a pretty good deal.

More or less the regular price for them. Not like it's a bad thing, it's an okay watch but in that price range you have other things akin to the Amphibia and Seiko 5.

>but metal wrist bands seem unnecessarily difficult to adjust,
Usually in lower price ranges bracelets are meh at best, and are easy to adjust on your own. If you're too clumsy then go to a watch shop to do it for you.

And the straps that come with them aren't that good either. Investing a good 10 to 20$ on a better strap is usually the best course of action. Nylon is an exception.

>and they might get a little cold during winter
Nope

>I don't want a watch that is too "sporty" because those will probably look stupid with regular clothing
So go here watchsleuth.com/seiko5finder/

Find a model that you like and search it on eBay.

>As far as price goes, I'd like to keep it under 60 euros
Really limited at that pricepoint to either cheap G-shocks, or fashion quartz. Nothing at that point is going to be particularly reliable or 'tough', but it shouldn't break unless you put effort into it. Go for the Timex if you like it. I'm at a loss for what else there is at that price point.

You adjust bracelets once and they should be fine. If it's a high quality one you shouldn't ever have to worry ever again, but lower quality ones in your range (folded versus solid links) typically aren't worth it due to hair pulling, but cheap good aftermarket ones exist.

They'll only be cold once being put on, then they'll adjust to your body temperature of course.

What you posted looks more military inspired, called a field watch. It looks fine with regular clothing like jeans and a tshirt, maybe casual button down, etc.

A Timex should hold up fine and has the basic features you could want. Just consider you'll have to replace the battery once in a while, which is easy to do. Other cheap brands are Casio, and subsidiary brands like Pulsar, Lorus.

Common other recommendations would be like a mechanical Seiko 5 like above, or Vostok Komandirskie or Amphibian.

What if I raised the budget to maybe 100 euros? If I'm gonna get a watch I might as well get a good one. The Seiko 5 series sounds really good, if I understood correctly the wind themselves automatically.

I live in Finland and I'd like to order from inside the country which makes things a little difficult. What do you think of this?

laatukellot.fi/seiko-5-musta-teras-p-64739.html

It's some Seiko 5 series watch, the model number is SNK361K1. It's currently on a 53% sale so it costs 90 euros. Would this be durable enough? Watch is in the pic.

As far as the wrist strap goes, I don't consider myself clumsy so the adjusting won't be a big deal if it's not super difficult.

>Would this be durable enough?
So long as you don't bring a hammer to it, there should be no problems.

There are literally thousands of Seiko 5 models and variants, so spend some time looking for one that really catches your eye. There are plenty in the military style that the Timex follows.

And yes, you do understand correctly. Most automatic watches have a power reserve in the range of 30-40 hours, but so long as you wear it, it'll never run dry, and you don't exactly need to be running marathons to get the thing moving either, even the slightest movement will result in some charge being built.

The same watch is available here for USD $70, which is around most Seiko 5 models, so just make sure you can't get it cheaper there.

Finland, Sweeden, and Norway all suffer insane import taxes for no reason whatsoever. That and some things just tend to cost more in Europe anyway.

I've owned a simillar model to this one before (SNK357) and it's alright mostly.

Though It has a terrible [5] printing all over the dial.

The Seiko 5 series sounds really good then, not having to worry about the clock running out of power as long as it's being used sounds awesome. And I'm not planning to abuse it, I'm probably not gonna use it if there's a significant risk of it getting hit too hard.

Many things here tend to cost a lot more than in many other countries, especially the US. It seems like that if I want to get a Seiko 5 without having to order from other countries, the watch I linked is as good as it gets for 100 euros. The watch is normally sold at 195 euros, and 90 euros now on sale, which seems insanely expensive if you can get one for 70 bucks there.

>I'm probably not gonna use it if there's a significant risk of it getting hit too hard.
It takes a fair bit of effort to break one, the only real common way a watch will get damaged is by sending it face first into a corner of a desk. Even then, with a fair bit of force.

i have an old watch where the hand of the seconds can not get passed the hand of the minutes sometimes (always when the minutes are around 40-50). what can I do to fix it?

Beast mode

The hands probably have a slight bend in them. Will need to check the hands. Otherwise it's the cogs the hands attach to that are out of alignment

Anyone already received their new gen neptune?

That's nice as fuck. Big fan of the rubber strap. Have you ever watched Casey Neistat? He's a YouTuber, and total pretentious arsehole, but he has a Rolex with that same rubber strap, in navy blue. I always thought it looked awesome.

I found a watch strap made out of genuine elephant leather. Available in brown or black.
How is it compared to alligator?

I'm probaby gonna get the Seiko watch I posted, since and don't think I will find another deal as good for any time soon, and I want a Seiko 5 series after reading some of the replies I got. 90 euros is a bit more I planned to spend, but if it's a quality watch like people said it's nothing too bad. Thanks for help.

Grand Seiko Snowfrake in Toronto today (well, yesterday)

Go ahead.

Just order a different strap for it as well.

Why, or is the stock strap so shitty?

PEEEEEEETA

Working life? With maintenance, longer than yours.

Sunburst? Not with the one you posted. You want the Brightz SDGM003 or SDGM001. Check it out on Seiyajapan.com.

Depends if you like Malaysian hairpullers or you lack any arm hair.

Otherwise order a leather or perlon strap off eBay.

>he wears a chain watch

>Depends if you like Malaysian hairpullers or you lack any arm hair.

Sounds pretty terrible. I don't have long armhair though so I might try it with the stock strap at first and if it doesn't work get a better one.

Thoughts on this Orient, Sup Forums?

It's about $250 AUD new.

Power reserve indicator sort of ruins it for me, but would definitely take it in a cream/brown colour.

I own a Core.

Lovely watches, but the display can be a little hard to read in low light for the inverted display models.

The sensors are fairly accurate though. More so than some of its competitors

I actually found this on a chink shit thread. Of course it's a fake, but it seems to be made from the same materials as the original

after almost 8 years of dealing with an old poverty-tier orient mechanical i bought meself a cheap, very basic casio digital watch (not the osama one, it's too tiny)

I initially wanted to invest in those funky adapters so I could put a nato strap on it since I find them uber comfortable to wear but then the resin strap it came with it's nowhere near as uncomfortable as I expected it to be and I don't have to worry about water anymore.

feels good.

Was meant for

>tfw ywn be big enough to wear a Seiko turtle
Kill me

DELET

Actually it's perfect. Just took the photo at an slight angle. Same for chapter ring. Went through 3 of them until I got a perfect one :)

It will outlive you, guaranteed.

The lug to lug measurement is barely more than that pulsar, you might be able to pull it off. They wear much smaller than their size indicates.

He's just about pulling off the Pulsar to boot.

On another subject, i'm still trying to consider if i want the 773 or 777.

unserviced, you can expect a seiko 5 to die in 25 years give or take

You can expect a cheap automatic to die from a few hard knocks on the wrist. Also mineral glass looks like shit in active use.

Are those one of the new orients with hack/hand-wind? I find power reserves much more useful on a hand wind than a pure automatic. Also the date hand/subdial ruins it for me, I prefer wheel/window. Pic is my favorite orient.
