if you think something is trash on linux you can improve it. if you think something is trash on mac / windows, you have to just.deal.with.it.

>Every "linux is shit rant"
>it didn't work on my hardware
>it didn't work on my hardware
>did i mention my hardware?
>don't use it ever, it didn't work on my hardware
>driver was bad, linux's fault, not the vendor's
>it didn't work well with this proprietary shit that unsurprisingly works perfectly with its own ecosystem, what the fuck is this, clearly the fault of loonix
>disclaimer: i expect it to replace windows because stallmanism and judge it as a windows replacement fuck all of you people using it because it's well suited to the task at hand it has to be a windows replacement because stallman
The rant was actually "it worked on Linux before, now it doesn't".
Linux was a mistake.
Time for everybody to give up and buy a Mac.
It's hard to bother reading when similar shit is posted every hour
So it's actually a naive version of "freedesktop bloat is killing linux we need to be more like BSD"
I can see this guy falling into the cat-v cult and calling wayland pointless, like X's poor 3d performance is acceptable in 2016
Why do people insist pushing these memes about linux that, linux there, linux whatever. It's fine as it is and always get improved and it's used by people who want to use it, can use it and see the benefits of it. If you just want something that "werks" for simplicity sake, you go with windows or osx(if you own a macbook) simple as that, no need to bash, whine or meme about.
mentality of someone whose time is worthless
>if you think something is trash on linux you can just spend hundreds of man hours making a change know one else will allow to be added back into the main kernel repositories. If you think some is trash on Mac / windows you shop the competitors and get what you want.
Fixed that for you.
Linux could easily be the greatest OS in existence if it weren't for freetards reinventing every single fucking thing over and over and over and over and over and over again.
Comic needs a panel of the macfags laughing at the construction workers doing manual/skilled labor.
>Wahh my laptop isn't supported
>Wahh linux uses too much power
>Wahh linux on phones sucks
>The bigger question is, can Linux be saved?
>The answer is, of course, it’s just software.
Wahh OP is a faggot
>It's hard to bother reading when similar shit is posted every hour
this lack of self-awareness.
see, the gist of the article is that Way Back When, linux distro X released every six months. however, in this brave new world where linux has never been so accessible, that old six-month window isn't workable due to the sheer number of people using linux distro X. thus: on one hand you end up with greybeards reeeee-ing that their hyper-specific use case scenario doesn't work the same as it did, and on the other there's clueless newbs wondering why their phone won't talk to their computer any more.
and of course user here comes steaming into the thread saying STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT LINUX and countering a 'linux shit doesn't work' rant that never happened. like the article author's proposed solution to the problem: slow down. maybe read before reflexively taking the defensive. etc.
>>The bigger question is, can Linux be saved?
The real answer is no, because freetards will never allow it to happen.
sound on linux
>Asking for upstream to slow down development.
How about NO.
Instead, please use slow distro like Debian.
>jobs dindu nuffin
>All these heavily preconfigured distros have issues out of the box
Wow, nice, they're the same ones I always tell people to avoid. Beautiful, really. I'm sorry others are having issues, but these meme distros that are recommended to new people have always had issues.
>o X released every six months. however, in this brave new world where linux has never been so accessible, that old six-month window isn't workable due to the sheer number of people using linux distro X. thus: on one hand you end up with greybeards reeeee-ing that their hyper-specific use case scenario doesn't work the same as it did, and on the other there's clueless newbs wondering why their phone won't talk to their computer any more.

This. Someone post that xkcd with the relative on the phone who ends up switching distros because of preconfig issues.
accidentally greentexted
why does Sup Forums think it's realistic to expect your userbase to have an intricate understanding of the inner workings of every piece of software on their system and to simply be able to dive into a convoluted, complex piece of modern software to fix mistakes that in any other arena would be rightfully on the developer to remedy
this cop-out practically disregards the entire reason people use other peoples' software in the first place
>not using arch or gentoo
another rant from a clueless winbabby
lel u must be new here
because Sup Forums has a fear of the 'botnet' and the 'botnet' draws its life force from the "just werks" philosophy of proprietary software and by understanding the software you use thoroughly, you can maybe make more informed decisions about how much you contribute to the 'botnet' mythical demon.
if you're not a power user, linux isn't for you
if you're interested in the inner workings of your operating system, linux isn't for you. Stick to windows.
>loonix desktop rant
Nobody gives a shit about desktop loonix. No one will give a shit.

>>Using Mint Linux
>>Expecting ANYTHING to work at all except things that already worked 3+ years ago if you weren't pulling:
1. Only is based on Ubuntu LTS releases
2. The time it takes for that release for Mint to be released
3. Tries to take Ubuntu and "un-Ubuntu" it
4. Copies over all of Ubuntu's shitty patches and workarounds + has to add theirs OWN to both reverse Ubuntu shit and try to not be a POS distro
If you're using Mint you're living in the fucking dark ages.
You know, Sup Forums used to be for people who were knowledgeable about technology, just like Linux used to be for people who can do some kernel hacking.
Well, that's what happens if you upgrade. Same shit for people going from Win7 to Win10. Oh no, drivers aren't working!
It's not like Linux forces you to upgrade, unlike Win10. Things don't just stop working.
>writer of online blog says they know about current state of Linux
>Use outdated distro
>doesn't use rolling release distro
^
He puttin g on blast
WHY WOULD YOU EVEN USE LINUX HAHA
CAN'T EVEN GAMES N SHIT YOU STUPID FUCKERS
devs pls adopt vulkan so i can ditch windows
He's complaining about a newer Kernel breaking his hardware. Dude, just fucking downgrade the Kernel then.
There are already some Vulcan games out there that work on linux
>Having to copy and paste commands into the terminal is too hard

Honestly both Windows and Linux are complete failures as computer operating systems for normies.
Even OSX is probably too hard, the future belongs to ultra locked down iOS type operating systems running on set hardware so it just werkz
Pretty much this, iOS is the only idiot proof OS out there, even Android allows you to install 3rd party APKs that trick the user into enabling administrator mode and make them basically impossible to remove w/o a hard reset.
Dude I'm a Linux die-hard but even though I wish it weren't true I agree with you
>Honestly both Windows and Linux are complete failures as computer operating systems for normies.
I kind of agree
ITT: every OS is a failure of operating systems
>Linux #1 fanboy
>DEDOIMEDO / 3 DAYS AGO
literally fucking who, fucking kill yourself
but yeah linux is fucking trash except for "niche" use cases
have fun turning gimp into photoshop, by yourself, for free

FREETARDS ON SUICIDE WATCH

kys newfag
i don't know who that is, am i supposed to care?
just seeing his replies to comments makes me think no
>worshiping some random freetard
get a life, kid
Sorry i meant this:
Who said anything about worshiping? Stop projecting, bud.
dedoimedo is 100% irrelevant to anyone who isn't a linux tard fucking idiotic sperg
Oh, geez, did the big bad linux tard hurt ickle user's feelings?
The real problem with linux is the number of shitty distributions.
Having various distributions with various purposes that works differently like arch linux, gentoo, debian, ubutnu, fedora, rhel, centos or open suse is okay.
Having distributions based on distributions based on distributions is not good.
Look at the state of linux mint to understand.
Also the gvfs-smb-browse bug still has not been fixed for a year.
It's a well known bug affecting every ubuntu and mint user.
I'm only an occasional browser of Sup Forums due to my interest in gagdetry but occasionally I read Linux-related threads out of a sense of horrified fascination.
How can anyone argue in favour of this broken, hobbyists operating system as a realistic alternative to functioning, properly tested commercial software? It is surely only of interest to people who enjoy tinkering with defective products, or who have low-level jobs in server maintenance??
daily reminder that linux isn't for retards
>>>>get a chromebook
Google, Facebook, like 90% of servers run Linux
>Battery life, on the SAME hardware, has gone down from roughly 3.5 hours to about 2.5 hours with pretty much every single distribution, and the results are consistent across different systems and desktop environments.
isn't this normal for batteries?
>Chrome OS is an operating system designed by Google and based upon the Linux kernel.
retard
back to consumer device sheep.
>I'm only an occasional browser of Sup Forums due to my interest in gagdetry but occasionally I read Windows-related threads out of a sense of horrified fascination.
>How can anyone argue in favour of this broken, consumerist operating system as a realistic alternative to functioning, properly tested open source software? It is surely only of interest to people who enjoy being basic bitches and consuming content with their defective products, or who have low-level jobs??
Fixed
>don't like what I don't like
First I don't rice any shit I only installed an icon theme.
My old hp pavilion which was unusable hot and turned off after a while running Windows so couldn't do anything. With one ubuntu flavour it was saved and became a download-/web surf-/mediaplayer-mashine. I still have a mashine for work which dualboots Windows but I run into less bugs on Linux than on Windows 8.
Unbuntu Mate is just the most comfy distro ever made.
linufags like to think android is so great meanwhile iOS has a 93% profit share.
Linux is synonymous with poverty.
I use mint and I've already realized this but can't decide on a new distro to change to. I narrowed it down to either Ubuntu or Fedora.
I'm also not going to switch right now because I'm busy with exams (I'm a euro poor btw), but I'll do it next month when I have more time.
> wireless network card connectivity issues
IN 2016? FUCKING REALLY LOONIX?
ON WINDOWS - SELECT NETWORK - YAY INTERNET
ON APPLE - SELECT NETWORK - YAY INTERNET
ON POO-IN-LOONIX - WAIT A MINUTE NIGGER, YOU THINK THIS IS A GAME PREPARE YOUR ANUS
Get it together fucking hell what a shit.
>And I’m also a man of science. Of numbers. The way I move through space with minimum waste and maximum joy is all about mathematical probabilities. I look at things happening around me and try to extrapolate what they will be like in the future.
I never thought it was possible to write so autistically
>not using an intel chip
intel has great support for linux, broadcom however is another story.
>Open link
>meme from memegenerator
>ctrl + w
He has a point in thst a new release really shouldn't make things worse and turn a bunch of functioning features into unfunctioning ones. His repeated whining (article and comments) about Mint no longer having proprietary codecs out of the box is weird considering the Mint team has made installing them very easy. So this article is 50% substance and 50% being a bitch.
So I agree that
features, and important ones at that, should not just break from release to anither
but
I'd also point out foresight is helpful
when you purchase a laptop or build a desktop:
avoiding notorious hardware saves headaches.
>not reading TFA
The complaint is about an Intel card.
I'm now a #Windowsrocket
Oh, I forgot to mention. He is so hotheaded, emotional, and confrontational in the comments especially that this whole thing really is more of a tantrum than le scientific method mastery. He mad.
Kill yourself
Lincucks BTFO once again. No games, no Photoshop, no support, no nothing. Lincucks should grow up already and accept windows, a quality OS made by the best engineers. In fact, Sup Forums would be better if this was a windows board rather than a lincuck board who worships a pedophile commie.
>iOS has a 93% profit share
source?
An end-of-year 2014 report by some analytics corp called Canaccord Genuity. The original report is presumably paid, but here's an NYT article about it: bits.blogs.nytimes.com
>i took a psych100
>PROJECTINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
>The numbers add up to more than 100 percent
>The report acknowledges that it may be overstating Apple’s profit because it does not include estimates for some Chinese vendors like Xiaomi, which is one of the biggest smartphone makers in China, the largest smartphone market in the world.
Oops.
>not recognising obvious bait
>unironically using a bastardized server OS as a desktop operating system
Top kek.
If you're legit poor, mentally ill or have something to hide (child porn) I can see why you would use GNU/Linux but for everyone else there is Windows and OSX.
FOSS sucks.
>GoogleOS
There already is a "GoogleOS", it's a cancerous thing called ChromeOS.
this.
How much time you waste on linux trying to fix things? What great things could have you done with that time? I don't know about mac but on windows I literally never had a single problem, not one fucking virus or the blue screen of death. On win 10 everything just werks TM the moment you install it. My shitty computer runs like 3 times faster with win10 than with shitbuntu
If he is Linux #1 fanboy, then why I've never heard about him?
>let's use ad hominem to prove all of my points
Okay you fucking shittards who are faggoting so hard about fucking Operating Systems.
>never had a fucking virus or blue screen of death
I find this highly unlikely - unless you are referring to a specific subset of malware. Everyone contracts malware eventually, even if they are careful.
>Windows 10
Oh, you already have malware on your computer. Windows 10 is shit for security and privacy and that's essentially your spyware.
>I fixed the spyware settings
Sure, and I have too, but even with minimal spyware settings you will still be sending data to Microsoft.
But even with the issues of Windows 10, I will still utilize it in certain scenarios (like gaming) because I am not above it.
>How much time you waste on linux trying to fix things?
Fixing shit is really a universal OS problem. On Windows I've had to fix shit because Microsoft has a habit of depreciating useful features and breaks other ones. Plus with Microsoft, you have to deal with abortions like Windows 8 and the stupid fucking changes that make no sense. You could at least grant Ubuntu props for consistency.
>>I hate linux because it doesn't completely mirror Windows
Obviously linux isn't capable of all the things that windows can. But then again, there are certain advantages to linux that Windows lacks.
>tu quoque fallacy
I didn't said anything about your hypocrisy.
>le responde au motherfuckin fallacy notification
The guys problem with his T400 wireless could've been fixed for $6 fucking dollars to buy a better card.
>but on windows I literally never had a single problem
>hey guise, how do I disable telemetry? send help gee, make it stop pls!
cuck
>And I’m also a man of science. Of numbers. The way I move through space with minimum waste and maximum joy is all about mathematical probabilities. I look at things happening around me and try to extrapolate what they will be like in the future. I seek patterns in the numbers, and what I see ain’t pretty.
MAXIMUM EUPHORIA
You can't improve shit on Linux. Give it up.
