wrong board
wrong site

this is Sup Forums

Add zeronet to the list.

These threads usually seem to do okay. If it weren't for the obnoxious faggots shitposting about GPU shit, this could be a decent board.

Duly noted, thanks user. Will be in the next thread.

>If it weren't for the obnoxious faggots shitposting about GPU shi
please
this is where Sup Forums comes to shop and Sup Forums comes for tech support
the rest is reddit and facebook looking for a special snowflake corner of the internet full of edgy memes

good discussion can't continue on this site because of peak traffic

quality discussion (and moderation) can only happen on a slower site

Yeah, true Better/more mods could improve it a lot though. Start banning those who shitpost GPU and desktop threads.

>Better/more mods could improve it a lot though.
again, the problem is the velocity of the board. It would take way too much effort to properly clean up (they would have to ramp up hot pocket production)

Desktop threads weren't even bad relatively (can't believe I am saying this) because at least they had some semblance of board culture and often encouraged the switching to free systems

I would take GPU threads anyday over the cancer consumertard Apple, Windows, phone, and advice threads that are constantly flooding the board.

Or 50 pro/anti Linux threads a day.

especially when the GNU/Linux side is special snowflake ricers and the Windows side is Sup Forums

Battle of the extremes, it seems.

I remember when caring about privacy and freedom in computing on Sup Forums was the norm and not dismissed as a meme by neo-Sup Forums cancer

Why aren't there more buildings like this in the US?

When was the last time you went full cyberpunk Sup Forums?

I 'reveres engineered' an AC remote IR patterns in order to code up a peace of softwere that would let me control it from my pc (and by extension my phone and from anywhere)
so i can make my room comfy before i get home from work.

Nice. So it mimics the infrared and sends it through the internet?

There are no desktop threads. It was better when they were allowed because it was all contained to one thread, rather than interspersed throughout the board.

lack of taste
urban architecture is dull in the US

The "reverse engineering" part was using a IR detector to store patterns, the oscilloscope is there because i couldn't make heads or tails of the output on the PC so i had to see the actual waveform before i could understand what the fuck m350b750,m350b350 etc meant( m stands for mart(up wave) b for break(down wave) in the off chance you ever try to do this )

The softwere holds the patterns for the most used modes ( cooling (x deg), dry and off i rarely use the others ) and sends it to a parallel port to 1,0; And there i have a IR diode.
Ultimately I wanted a usb dongle but all the USB to parallel chips are surface mount and my solder oven is busted. So i settled for a parallel port for now. And i use SSH to run in remotely.

But basically yes thats what it dose.

Thanks for the explaination, user. That's really interesting.

what about socially?
I posted this yesterday but no one was there anymore
we are just a few months away from the beginning of a truly distopic society and I barely see anyone talking about the full effects

currently Trump and Clinton are getting into the white house, one will win, which one is irrelevant because the result will be similar in different ways, clinton will enact the ONE policy (one nation earth) which will drown the lower classes with cheap shitty jobs while the powerful reap the benefits. trump will turn us isolationist, forcing revolts and eventually resulting in martial law, either way we will be a distopian society,

to avoid these things please plot out how you intend to live your life under constant control and surveillance

I for one will be hiding in plain sight as a trump supporter, no one is aware of just how little I give a shit that he's getting elected. And this means I can gather information from within without suspicion. I've actually met the guy, and to answer the question no one will ask, yes he's that big of a jack ass. I'm going to be masking all my activities with false online identities that I use via VPNs, proxies, and TOR, meanwhile my public identity will be a full on trump supporter with no outstanding traits

earlier industrialization

I live in a low population, low tech area (small-ish town in Idaho), so surveillance isn't too bad here, as far as cameras and such. However, acting suspicious here is more noticible. I have shoulder length black hair and wear all black, and I get stared at wherever I go, so I really stand out here. If it gets to be dangerous to stand out, I'll probably go into hiding, since my house is a ways away from town.

In fact that's not a really good idea, I'd recommend freenet instead.

Battling against an oppressive tech dystopia on Zeronet is a bit idiot when you have Freenet.

I was thinking of including Freenet as well. Some guides for setting up Freenet servers/relays would be good too.

Speaking of adding things, someone in an earlier thread asked if I had links to "the radio ststions". Any idea as to what he might have meant?

Anyone here experiment with/run a Piratebox? I could see people in the future being "Datarunners", couriers for restricted data, using something similar.

...

I never really felt a need to own one since copyright laws aren't as enforced where i live as they are in an authoritarian hell hole like Germany.

If you could connect it to a public wifi and keep it powered they makes sense but otherwise i never saw a point.

I've hear people put pis in their work PC and torrent from there and just play dumb, some do it in restaurants, hiding them in fridges or under bars. They are unnoticeable since they don't drain enough power to be noticed on a bill for a large place of business and the wifi there is public so anyone could be doing it so no one in particular could be persecuted.

I do believe you can connect it via ethernet.

Pretty /cyb/ lyrics

I wonder if this kind of thing is inherently more useful for political matters like fighting censorship or subterfuge than software piracy.

Maybe /ptg/ is a better place to ask this but what really is the best way to fight getting C&Ds in the mail for pirating shit?

Tor seems too slow, some people here recommend i2p.
