Because the next generation of Nexus devices are about to launch in ~2 months, therefore the 6P/5X should be going on sale to a permanent ~350-399 (for the 6p). It's a really solid device, and you'll get android N and O at the very least. On top of a pretty solid camera, great design, stock android... I mean it's the definitive android device right now. If it had a microsd slot it would be perfection imo.

Camera isn't quite Samsung S7 good (night/low light sucks), Chink and locked bootloader so support down the line might be iffy. Battery could be bigger. Supposedly the speakers aren't as good as others, but who the fuck uses their phones speakers to play music?
None of those are deal breakers, unlike the fucking 1+3's lack of a SD card, or the S7/top tier phone pricetags.
