DELET THIS
>proprietary drivers
>proprietary software
Don't use neither and you won't have these problems.
They had to sell GCN somehow I suppose...
>won't have these problems.
Yeah its more like 50% slower with the open drivers.
I think the main difference is AMD would actually attempt to address this regression if you brought it to their attention.
And nvidia won't?
They fixed the performance issues on kepler last year, AMD has simply forgetten about everything pre-GCN.
>And nvidia won't?
Years of people complaining about performance seemingly disappearing on nvidia cards lead me to believe "no."
Also couldn't you just revert back to the old drivers?
no they wouldn't* rather
HD6870 here, I did, but why should I? Why can't they release a GOOD FINAL DRIVER?
I gained ~5fps in gta v by going back to catalyst.
So the hd 6970 was only a tiny bit slower than the hd7870? Literally less than 1 frame per second (margin of error) difference?
Shit, that would still be performing competitively with crossfire against shit like the 980 or Fury.
Why were they so eager to drop it? My 570 is still performing fine and still gets updates. Can't Max out every game but I'm still getting 60fps 1080p medium /high. The 6970 should be smashing my 570 just from the extra vram alone...
Are the open source windows drivers any good these days?
>Crimson Edition 16.2.1 Beta
>Beta
Why the fuck would you even update to a beta instead of using the last stable driver? What could you possibly think you were going to gain from doing so? Did you think AMD spent five months hard at work on performance updates for a fucking HD 6770? It literally says right there on the page that it's basically something they did as a half-assed job just so that people on older cards could use the new Crimson software.
>As a courtesy to our valued supporters we are providing a final Beta driver together with the release of the AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition. The AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition Beta driver includes the redesigned user interface as well as some enhanced features. More information can be found in the AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.2.1 for Non GCN Products Release Notes. This driver is provided "as is" and will not be supported with further updates, upgrades or bug fixes.
How often do they release a non beta?
How autistic are you?
The base driver is equally "good" in both of them, the long term/legacy drivers however don't have any application specific optimizations in them as those type of optimizations need to be constantly updated to keep up with the changes in the games
>But muh 6770 sucks playing games
>Muh drivers even know it's pre-GCN
Fucking nividshill
He's right though
YOU HAVE 10 SECONDS TO DELETE THIS
No problems here while running Mesa 12 :^)
>he uses open source drivers
I got drivers for my old gtx260 in March. Stay mad amdrone.
You don't understand, rolling back the drivers improved performance.
>being so poor you can't upgrade from a 2010 gfx card
Kek
No, you don't understand. That performance difference is coming from application or game specific optimizations that the drivers have, if the games themselves get updated in the future those optimizations may need to be updated as well or they'd stop working or even start causing glitches or bugs.
>playing CSGO
>installing updates via windows update
>having non GCN graphic card from 2011
Get out, kiddo.
Then why does regressing the driver improve performance?
>New UI and features in Beta driver pack causing issues for legacy devices!
>In other news, Water! It's Wet!
How can water be wet?
I thought it caused wetness?
That's like AIDS being sick?
>Why does regressing the driver to one that still has the application specific optimizations (that work for now) in them have better performance than the newer generic driver that doesn't?
Gee user why would that be
So then why remove that profile in the newer driver?
Gimping!

That kid can barely form a coherent sentence and doesn't state which driver versions he actually used. There are at least two Crimson releases for non-GCN cards.
