980ti

I got impatient when every single custom 1070 is well above $400.
I just got the rebate approved on my 980ti, bringing the grand total to $350.
Was it a mistake to get it when it's now a legacy product?

bumping for interest, I am looking into the 1070 vs 980ti since neither the 1060 nor 480 are able to run witcher3 at ultra 60fps 1080p

Wait for 1080ti

It's still a nice card. Power hungry, but a nice card nonetheless.

It will still live up for 2 or 3 more years.

gtx 980ti = gtx 1070

no real diffrence, even the 2GB extra do not really matter. (for now)

I got myself a gtx 1070 because I just like the number 7

Judging by the specs, the 1070 has 100W lower TDP

I think there's no huge difference in the performance, I'm running a 980Ti since August and I'm pretty happy with it, playing on 1440p

Unless you're doing any VR shit I don't think there's much of a difference. OC if you want more out of it.

OP here. I am still rather torn about it. I just find it really amazing that the price actually hiked for the 1070. I mean the 1070 version of the 980ti AIB that I got is $440! The difference we are talking here is so big that it's a whole tier apart between the two cards.
Hell, there's actually GTX 1060 AIBs worth $350, which is just ridiculous!

I dont know.

When I bought my 1070 it was 499€ the gtx 980 was about the same.

the gtx 1060 was not out yet.
Now the price for the gtx 1060 is around 400€

so I would still go for the gtx1070

sorry the gtx 1060 is 300+ €

Yeah, it's a no-brainer when the 980ti is as expensive as the 1070. The situation for those of us in the USA is a bit unique in that sense.

if you dont care about power consumption the 980ti is better , overclocked it almost matches the 1080.

the 1070 cant be oc'd that much

Got the 980ti for 370€ while 1070 is around 500€ here

the gtx970 still costs around 350€

btw your mother sucks black cocks

Where?

There's no logical reason to buy a product that uses more power, is an older architecture, has less VRAM and doesn't perform any better.

That being said, it's not like it's a slow or bad card though.

Best advice on cards: Just wait
1 year later
>Same advice
A year after that
>Same advice
A year after that

etc...
I mean, until there is a huge breakthrough and/or gap, there is no reason to upgrade your gpu.

Also, the 980ti is almost equal to the 1070. Save some money and buy some dank games.

OC'd 980ti actually has the potential to beat a 1070.

Luckily for you maxwell cards are known to be amazing overclockers, while pascal seems to be a special snowflake with it's voltage.

Atm, 1070 seems to be the worst value GPU out, with most makes still being offered at near $500, still on regular GDDR5, and the problem with DX12/Vulkan. Both the 1060, 1080, or even the fury and 980ti are better buys.

Yep, and I'm bored also so it's a toss up between 1060 or 480 for me. Zotac amp for £250 or Sapphire Nitro for £240

OP again. The main problem that there's no escaping the fact that Nvidia would not bother to work on cards of earlier generation, even if it's a flagship card. This means that Pascals will get optimization while Maxwells won't really see that support, even if 980Ti's a flagship product.

It only hit me yesterday. The idea that GTX 1070 is worth 25% more (40% after I factor in a 12% tax) is just disgusting.

980ti uses around 100W more power, but OCd performs the same

1080 is the worst

Too powerful for 1440p, not powerful enough for 4K. 1070 shits on 1440p all day though.

but we have 3 huge breakthroughs in 6 months.

die shrinks
vulkan
HBM mass production

when these combine in the new year prices will plummet on all old stock.

Maybe because your fucking procesor is weak?

For fuck sake... 980ti is better graphic card.

Even the 970 can run it at 60.

All these gpu threads are just messing with my mind. Fury X, 980TI, 1070, 1060, etc, etc. Even after using comparison websites, I still can't decide what to get.

Hey guys. Question.
I currently have a 660Ti and two 1080p monitors.
Now, I really like having dual monitors but 1. They're only 1080p. 2. They're the exact same model but for the life of me I can't get them calibrated the same. This triggers me heavily.
I need to change something but 1. Don't have the cash for a 4k monitor. + gpu to drive it. 2. Worry buying a gpu that can't drive 4k will cuck me for the future when I can get 4k.
Also in Canada so prices are subject to the Northern Jew.

Solution: Don't do nothing and live with it for now.

Just get a 480 nitro 4gb
