It has been automatically changed from GPT to MBR after I installed the anniversary update.
jesus fucking christ. I hope this happens to all of the BitLocker users out there in the US so a class action lawsuit will happen. It would be especially fun if it happened to major corporations
Lincoln Butler
Gå och lägg dig, Erik.

Apex kek there bro, I'd highly suggest spreading the word.

>if only Linux was user friendly and allowed for full disk ecnryption what
it does and it's very user friendly
Juan Bennett
Vaknade för typ 3 timmar sedan. Mitt sömnschema är lite skevt så att säga.
Yeah. Now thank fuck I actually have recent backups on my most important stuff.
Ian Brown
Linux has LUKS disk encryption
Noah Nelson
>using bitlocker For what purpose?
Michael Collins
Veracrypt doesn't support UEFI
>writing 20 pages worth of text into a command line interface
no ty. This is the exact reason why Linux is stuck on 1% market share
Zachary Martinez
Bitlocker is a running joke in the crypto community. Who are you trying to protect against?
Mason Flores
>>writing 20 pages worth of text into a command line interface >no ty. This is the exact reason why Linux is stuck on 1% market share kill yourself shitposter
Julian Allen
>if only Linux was user friendly there are a couple of really user friendly distros, like Elementary
>allowed for full disk encryption but you can do that
Colton Lewis
I'm not sure that it's the encryption that caused the issue. My secnd SSD wasn't encrypted and it did the same shit.
Zachary Wright
>using uefi >Not using veracrypt It's like you are brain-dead.
John Anderson
>using bitlocker and not vera/true crypt >2016
Are you a goddamn monkey? Are you so stupid you go around making huge updates WITHOUTH UNPLUGGING ALL THE BACKUP HARD DRIVES? Fucking casuals.
Brayden Wilson
OP here, are you serious?
I don't know whether to laugh of cry because if this is widespread a lot of people are gonna get mad.
Just imagine this happening in a major corporation...
Okey, so in the future we should all disconnect all non-system drives before applying updates (if the update installation is causing this major issue).
OP here again. I just lost all my paid premium porn (1,3TB).
I didn't have enough space on my backup hard drives so it was just stored on my 3TB internal hard drive and nowhere else. And that hard drive was deleted by windows update as I mentioned in the first post.
Isaiah Ward
>paid premium porn is this even a thing lmao
Luke Gonzalez
>Paying for porn What kind of fucked up obscure fetish have you got that you had to pay money for porn of it?
Andrew Brown
I have classic shell 4.3, I just updated, no drives missing no errors anywhere that I can see.
It did take quite a long time though and I have an SSD, should I post my specs to compare to OP?
Juan Lopez
Fire up em' lawsuits, y'all about to get paid.
Jack Gray
That's not what's happening.
Noah Barnes
>paying for porn You got what you deserved.
Easton Powell
i didn't get a bios message and i didn't update to the latest classic shell either. I got an update message like yesterday but didn't install it.
Either way, classic shells seems to have been hacked
"Thanks for the quick reporting, guys! Appears that FossHub got hacked and the file got switched. I fixed the main Download button to point to the Mediafire mirror, which is intact. I will shortly remove the files from FossHub completely, and contact their support to investigate the breach.
To be safe, always check the digital signature of EXEs you downloaded, before you run them. The official Classic Shell installer has a signature for "Ivaylo Beltchev", and the fake one doesn't even have a signature." - Classic Shell developer in the same thread as the image
Oliver Lee
Does this update finally add bash to a non beta?
Angel Howard
Yes, I'm serious.
Juan King
>cry about a Windows like a bitch >continue to use Windows
Robert Clark
Some woman got $10,000 because Windows 120 screwed up her business software.
Shoot for $100,000 OP, not even kidding go for a lawsuit, Microsoft has shown precedent to pay out people getting fucked by Windows 10 to minimize the publicity.
John Hughes
>some stupid bossy cunt
Fixed that for you
Owen Torres
OP is a NEET and doesn't have a business for which he could prove damages
Luis Kelly
Fuck, i actually think it was Classic Shell Menu that deleted the MBR (even though my hard drive is GPT)
i tried installing the infected program and a CLI appeared for a split second, when i rebooted my 3TB hard drive had been deleted again.
Now here's the funny thing, my 3TB hard drive was "Drive 0" and my system drive was "Drive 1" when looking at the disk management window in windows or whatever it's called.
My system drive wasn't deleted so the infected program must only delete the "Drive 0" kek
fucking amateur script niggers
Colton Carter
>fucking amateur script niggers and you fell for it
Carter Sullivan
Wait, did you update/upgrade from your system or did you do a fresh install/system upgrade with a USB?
Gavin Bailey
DON'T INSTALL IT IF YOU'RE USING BITLOCKER
MY 3TB HARD DRIBE THAT WAS BIDLOGGER FULL DISK ENCRYBDED HAS BEEN DELEDED. IT NOW SAYS "UNALLOGATED SPACE" XX--DD
Adrian Brown
fug xDDDDDDDDDDD
Wyatt Ortiz
Atop making fun of my waifu yolandi ;-;
Sebastian Bennett
>unironically using bitlocker You deserved it.
Blake Reyes
with the windows updater. Not a clean install with USB.
But anyways, it appears some script niggers replaced the Classic Shell Menu .exe on FossHub with an infected program that deleted the partition tables for "Drive 0" in your computer.
My system drive was "Drive 1" and my 3TB hard drive was "Drive 0". Maybe it has something to do with wich SATA ports are on your motherboard, since they are numbered.
I must say this was a golden opportunity for hackers because the anniversary update removed the latest clean version of Classic Shell Menu and so people and myself included went to download the program again, but someone had swapped it with an infected version.
This still wouldn't have been a problem if Windows 10 didn't go around and uninstall programs though.
Remember to have backups.
BitLocker still sucks because with the new XTS-AES algorithm introduced with the windows november update corrupted all RAID 1 mirrored bitlocker drive that were using Windows Storage Spaces to create a software raid (i was a victim of this btw)
Angel Hill
bitlocker is set up on a fuckload of small doctors offices, as it's the easiest crypto to install and be hipaa compliant
Ian Richardson
>if only Linux was user friendly and allowed for full disk ecnryption
This is like posting "Hurr Durr, Mac only got 1 mouse button"
If you don't know what you are talking about, don't post shit. Linux does support FDE. It also doesn't upload your key to your Microsoft Account for easy relay to interested parties.
Your first two lines were enough to warrant discussion.
Joseph Collins
I updated classic shell to 4.3 before the anniversary update through the program not from the website and it didn't remove it, it did try to remove 8gadgetpack but failed to do so.
Joseph Hall
>tfw did a clean install just 5 days ago and have to do it again because the virus is probably still lurking around in the computer
Anthony Reed
so you're saying if you use bitlocker on a drive, and then update, it'll break the drive?
thats pretty serious. I would no joke burn microsoft down if that happened to me. like i would make it my lifes mission to completely destroy it.
Luke Gomez
updating through the program is safe because it validates signatures and has a different download server that wasn't compromised
downloading from FossHub is what fucked things up
Evan Morris
oh so fosshub must be a mirror then
Ethan Ortiz
(I'm this guy)
When I ran the update, I had just performed a clean installation onto my new 950 Pro. I didn't have any cracked software, anything questionable whatsoever.
Liam Martin
That's hilarious
Aaron Cooper
I sure hope you're planning on suing them, OP.
Adam Thomas
OP ran unauthorized 3rd party software from shady sources.
Robert Lee
did you use classic shell menu? did you download from FossHub recently?
Charles Bennett
Keep telling yourself that
Liam Taylor
Actually, yes. qBittorrent - and I was saving my torrents there...
Hunter Reyes
>Windows anniversary updates says during install that the update made my computer more safe from online threats >lets me install virus 3 minutes after installation is done
gonna buy Kaspersky since it's one of three AV programs that have detected the virus
Gavin Roberts
Technically it was not a virus, just a poorly packaged trojan with a destructive payload. Anyway, mystery solved.
John Jackson
so, was it a one time run application or do i need to DBAN all the hard drives that has been in contact with my computer after the infection?
I would've asked the script niggers on twitter but i don't have any social media accounts
Hudson Jenkins
I have no clue.
Jonathan Mitchell
This is scary. There could be multiple infected files on Fosshub right now, and nobody would know. If you've installed anything from Fosshub in the past month I'd say shut down NOW and offline scan the shit out of everything.
Christian Gutierrez
There are Sup Forums users who use Veracrypt/Linux with AES - the encryption technology fucking "certified" (i.e. backdoor'ed) by the NSA and US army - and think that it is better than bitlocker.
Caleb Peterson
cucked
Camden Walker
it would be interesting to see if FossHub or the developer got hacked
Christian Adams
Truecrypt Veracrypt etc are for Windows babys. Linux users use luks/dmcrypt and pgp.
Were they hired by M$ to get people to not use classicshell? Because that's what I'm reading from that reply.
Asher Foster
Hmm nope works fine for me OP. Must be a client side issue
Jayden Nelson
>It would be especially fun if it happened to major corporations Never happen. Corp IT personnel actually pay attention, and deploy major updates in tightly tested groups.
Sebastian Baker
Switch to Linux, you need it
Chase Jones
>veracrypt
10 NSAbux have been deposited into your NSA rewards account.
Xavier Morales
Again ,
Justin Gomez
One time I payed for a RealityKings account for 1 year and 9 times out of 10 I wouldnt even bother logging into it because other sites were much simpler to browse and no login was required.
Only reason to pay for porn is if youre actually getting 1080p+ in which case it sort of makes sense id youre actually going to use the feature daily.
Andrew Howard
RealityKings sucks by the way. They have a 10GB download limit per day. (as of 2014 when i tried them)
I got really pissed after giving them 30USD and could then only download like 15 movies per day
James Bailey
HOL UP HOL UP
Seriously what the fuck is going on? I'm so confused. First the non system drives were being deleted because it had something to do with bitlocker but now people are talking about some malware?
Hudson Nelson
>using botnetlocker Lol why even, It's the same as having a non ecrypted drive and it is slower.
Anthony Reed
must be nice having a place where you can let out your full retardation every day... Sup Forums is truly a perfect place for some of us
Logan Price
>fucking amateur script niggers this is true but i'd like to qualify it with the fact that the exe we uploaded was coded in like less than an hour
anyway everyone fearing shit: yeah fosshub was completely fucked as of about july we just lurked a bit before infecting people
Justin Martinez
It's two different things: 1. OP had his encrypted drive deleted when he updated 2. The Classic Shell (a third party program) site got hacked and the download link replaced with a malware
Benjamin Flores
It would be incredibly easy to slip in code that looks innocent but pokes holes in the security(see underhanded C contest for examples of this type of code), and I wouldn't doubt that that's already happened to that fork.
Camden Miller
how does this make bitlocker in any kind a better alternative?
Jonathan Morris
Gotta save up for that bike, mang
Ryan James
>classicshell serves you right for using a shitty third party useless bloatware addon
Ryder Murphy
wow that sucks OP I guess u should just play it safe from now on and not encrypt anything ever again
Charles Baker
...
Tyler Parker
bitlocker is shit but it'll still keep local police and nignogs out of your computer if stolen
Leo Carter
EBIN XD :---DDD can i get le ebin meme frog onto twitter?
Jacob Perez
MEME bear TOOO ZD XD X----)))D
Nathaniel Cruz
le corp it is superior
Stop sucking their cock. They are the cancer responsible for IE6 lasting so long and other bullshit like that.
Grayson Ross
it's not two things, cockkisser. the malware fucked up his partition table, and he could have restored it, but since it was encrypted by bitlocker, he can't
he didn't know what caused it and assumed it was le micro$soft fault, but it wasn't
Liam Gray
Absolutely fucking revolting
Luke Foster
just tried Fedora 24 in a WM there literally is a checkbox to do that
