Don't fucking post unrelated cute girls showing feet on a technology board, faggot
Jacob Roberts
Don't know about a 4k but there is a reason a monitor is more expensive than a tv it has to do with pixel density. when watching something on a TV you're farther than a monitor, which means that if you sit closely to a TV the image will not be perfect. (That was my experience with a full hd TV).
Evan Green
you'll most likely won't even get 60hz refresh rate depending on if it supports hdmi 1.2 or 2 and/or displayport
Parker Williams
Pixel pitch is worse than a monitor and response time is worse than a monitor. Even with gaming mode enabled, tvs suck for computer use.
Chase Murphy
WHAT'S IN THE BOX !! WATS IN DE BOX !!! WATS. INE. BOX !!!!!!!!!!!!
Luke Turner
Using a TV up close makes my eyes bleed, not a good idea, when my speakers broke I tried it for a while but I ended up going back to my regular monitor.
Luke Gray
why not
Luis Scott
Yes it's a bad idea, don't do it.
Gabriel Lee
4k should fix that
apple promises 60hz for browsing at 4k but they don't say anything about gaming
Buy a computer monitor, don't buy a tv and use it as a monitor.

Name one reason anyone needs 4k.
Gaming graphics don't fucking matter.
No goddamn video uses 4k and it doesn't look any better at a proper viewing distance anyway.
Screen real estate isn't a factor at all.
So what the fuck is the point? Just another "okay, here's yet another bullshit incremental update for people with more money than brains" bullshit scam.
Caleb Cooper
Who's this semen demon?
Sebastian Scott
>Name one reason anyone needs 4k.
well you need 4k on a 40 inch monitor so you can get the needed resolution to use it for typing, otherwise everything would be fuzzy and blurry, 4k is the same pixel density as 1900x1200 on a 24inch monitor
not that complicated, this way you don't have to have 2 or 3 monitors with bezels separating them for the same real estate
Leo Nelson
>Screen real estate isn't a factor at all Maybe you're just stupid?
Jaxon Gonzalez
>Screen real estate isn't a factor at all.
yes it is, have you never used dual monitors?
Wyatt Peterson
>2002 >name one reason anyone needs 1080p
Literally any camera takes photos higher resolution than 4k, so having 4k resolution eases the editing process a lot. >inb4 not everyone is a photo editor but everyone takes photos on their phone and views them on their computers which has insufficent resolution to portray them
Hudson Evans

What are you going to do? Masturbate? Archieve? Whats the point? Masturbating will feel same as masturbating to anyone else and you will never meet her anyway. You might as well kill yourself already /hugchan/res/2.html
Kevin Clark
i think i might have to try it with the smallest 4k tv i can find then just use it as a spare tv if it is shit as a monitor
i can't find a straight answer when i google it some people say it's great others say it sucks
Lincoln Martinez
i wont masturbate i just wanna see qt pics of her

You never had a pc hooked up to a 1080 TV and then compared it to a decent monitor? The response time alone should be enough to sway you

Zachary Parker
>stinky feet is a good thing wow, im glad i exist above the cruft
Christopher Evans
no i have not tried it but what is a digital cable box or blue ray plaer or xbox if not just a computer?
it must work at least for movies if you are willing to sit far away
John Peterson
using a 4k 40"-50" TV as a monitor is *potentially* OK. no matter what you'll probably get poor-ish input latency (40-100 ms), but you can still get a good picture.
the things to look out for: > HDMI 2.0 support for UHD@60 Hz w/4:4:4 chroma - mandatory unless you want silky smooth 30 Hz and/or shitty color munging on color text > PWM backlighting - may cause eye strain unless it can be disabled or have the duty cycle adjusted > IPS/VA/TN - you might want to consider IPS to avoid positional color shift at the edges on a display that big, unless you game/watch movies a lot in a dark room, in which case maybe VA
the 2015 and newer LGs have HDMI 2.0, adjustable backlight duty cycle, and IPS panels. the 2015 and newer Samsungs have HDMI 2.0 and VA panels. Would recommend either, based on individual needs.
Brandon Allen
Sitting far away is not a thing you'd want to do for your main work computer.
Luke Bell
I got this on sale for $450. 60 Hz, response and color are great. No problems with it except its too big. I wish I got a 32".
>the are cute and comfy >TFW neither cute nor comfy at the moment
Luis Morris
>Sitting far away is not a thing you'd want to do for your main work computer.
i know but it must at least "work" the thing to me that would stop you from using it as your work computer would be your video card being unable to render 3800X2000 or whatever 4k really is
as long as it could i think you would be OK
Tyler Gutierrez
>Is this a bad idea? walmart has a 40inch on sale for $279, I have a 2016 13.3 rmbp, could I use this as a monitor? Yes you could but its going to suck ass, the cheap ass 4k TVs have lots of lag because the "Smart TV" portion does image processing. Also it may not support 60hz, or 4:4:4 color
I use a 4k tv as a monitor and its nice, but itll make you less competitive at gaming if thats something you care about. A lot of stuff will be in your peripheral vision.
A 40" 4k will have a 10% higher PPI than a 22" 1050p monitor
Jayden Powell
thanks for the info, now I need to know if I can get a thunderbolt 2.0 to HDMI 2.0 converter....for a rmbp
William Fisher

290x. Need to upgrade that next. Mostly working from home with some occasional gaming. Runs most things okay, need to drop down to 1080p for some things.

Bit of an old pic with my old rig. Sorry about the messy desk. The Seiki is the one on the left. It really is huge.
Grayson Edwards
like yellow eye, or whatever the foot fungus version of pink eye is
Chase White
that looks ok, do you think a laptop could drive it?
Josiah Gutierrez
nice and comfy, i need this
where did you get the coupon?
Caleb Ramirez
Depends on the card in the laptop. Also to get 60 Hz you need displayport 1.2 for this monitor. HDMI is limited to 30. So it would be good for browsing the net and shit like that but not gaming really.
Brody Allen
Newegg just throws it on sale every now and then. I just got lucky and found it.

I own a 48" and its 100% worth it. I recommend it to everyone. You have to buy one of decent quality however, do your research.
Normally 4k IS a meme, but on a 40-50" screen it makes a big difference.
Camden Brooks

I'm using a Samsung JU7500. But every brand sells low-end and high-end models.
I bought a pixel perfect crossover 32" for my friend and it looks awesome. It looks like it recently jumped in price though, I originally got it for $200 less off of ebay. I've heard Wasabi Mango is also good.
Personally for a monitor I'd also recommend the 40" samsung JU7100. The extra $180 is worth the increase in size.
Whatever you get, just make sure it's 4:4:4 chroma. Makes a massive difference in reading text.
John Mitchell
I've got an LG 49UF7600 and can similarly recommend. It's surprising how quickly you can go from > that's too fucking huge to > eh, seems about normal for what a person would want
I will also second the emphasis on needing UHD@60Hz w/ 4:4:4 chroma. 30 Hz and 4:2:2/4:2:0 chroma are both unacceptable.
Nicholas Kelly
Reminder that "4K" is a standard, not a resolution.
Unless a TV understands it's own color gamut, the source color gamut, and can map the colorspaces correctly and instantly... it's just a high-res TV.
man, movies usually don't even get projected in 4k at the theaters.
Jeremiah Scott
>man, movies usually don't even get projected in 4k at the theaters.
well what is the point of buying a 4k tv if there is no 4k content?

TV as a monitor.
Pros: >Huge-ass makeshift monitor. >Relatively cheap for cost-to-size ratio. >You can watch TV. >Almost guaranteed VESA compatibility. >Multitude of adjustable settings. >Remote.
Cons: >So fucking disproportionately huge you'll easily see the pixels and it will be eye-straining as a desktop. Especially if 4K. >You have a fucking television on your desk. >The brightness of the TV will destroy your eyes. >Too much eye-scanning needed to view the screen real estate. >Response time is incredibly shit, but maybe it doesn't matter to you if you're a pleb. >You may hear the coil whine. >Not exactly ideal for multi-monitor setups. Please don't buy another fucking TV. >Color profiles likely not ideal for desktop use. >Television screens aren't always built for static images. This can lead to burn-in. >16:10 aspect ratio practically non-existent for TVs. This only matters if you're autistic.
Neutral: >HDMI or VGA are your likely connection options. >Built-in speakers.
Monitors usually to only need to be 2-3 feet from your face for a regular desktop setup. They shouldn't be any larger than 30-32" in that case.
Blake Sanders
where do you get mainstream 4k content such as movies ?
Ryan Murphy
>where do you get mainstream 4k content such as movies ?
you dont
Austin Collins
Yo dont make the same mistake I did. Dont buy a monitor that can only do 4k at 30hz, thats not good enough for a computer monitor. my tv was advertised as 4k 60hz but it can only do 1080p in 60hz, 4k is 30hz only. Even moving a mouse across the screen is laborious at 30hz, its not bad for watching 4k youtube videos though. just anything where you see the results of your input, you'll notice major lag. i'm talking about scooting a mouse around, gaming, basically anything except for photo or video viewing sucks ass at 30hz
I find that 3d games are extremely taxing at 4k not even games for shitty hardware work well at that resolution on decent hardware. less graphical games work fine though. I play factorio in 4k and it runs like a pro
Isaiah Myers
You can get a 55 inch lg oled 4k tv for 1500, 55ef9500
Jose Sanders
The need to spend extra money to get 4:4:4, the right inputs and a decent response rate negates the benefits of a TV vs a monitor.
It'll end up costing you more to get the same functionality as an average monitor.
Ryan Hall
>The need to spend extra money to get 4:4:4, the right inputs and a decent response rate negates the benefits of a TV vs a monitor.
just because it costs more does not mean it's bad
Christian King
No it just defeats the purpose of buying a TV to use as a monitor in the first place.
Julian Brooks
I hate people who type a CUTE Kill yourself.. after you fap 8ch net/hugchan/res/2.html

>tfw you could have had many qt gfs like her >instead, you are an insecure faggot who tried hard to demonstrate being a useful human being, and failed at it >tfw I still could, but insecurity, poverty and social retardedness are destroying me kill me please, I've wasted my life doing nothing of value, and still can't fix my own shit
Dylan Richardson
>40" monitor Do you sit 2" from your fucking TV too, idiot?
>stupid Nope. Everyone else is, though.
>dual monitors No, because I don't use a shitty hack that is unreliable as fuck and causes fucktons of problems.
>4k pictures Maybe fucking professionals targeting print media. If you take 4k pictures, you're just wasting space.
Easton Nelson
>Maybe fucking professionals targeting print media. If you take 4k pictures, you're just wasting space.

I used a TV as a monitor before and it would just end up giving me a headache every time.

She is 15. If you find the nudes of her that is technically child porn. Plus she already got caught by the FBI.

I have one of those 40" Seiki TVs. I wouldn't trade it for anything smaller, even with all of its flaws.
Charles Morgan
You can buy 4k BluRays and get a 4k BluRay player.
or download 4k BluRay Rips but I never see them outside of private trackers.
Or get a fireTV / 4k smartTV with amazon/netflix and you can stream 4k netflix and amazon video content to it
Jacob Davis
>Plus she already got caught by the FBI.
caught for doing what
she still posts

Can anyone recommend me a good TV upgrade of any size (just not fuck huge)
