The Obama Administration
obama
The US government doesn't give it a big budget since it doesn't see a reason to. The Space Race isn't a thing anymore, and NACA doesn't need a big budget (or that's at least what the government thinks).
"Why should we be spending money on space? There are other things we need to take care of, such as our countrymen and that war that's happening in a 3rd world shithole, they need us".
Meganiggerlicious monkey obama gutted the one government agency that actually accomplished something since WW2.
Name another agency that has accomplished anything since WW2. Protip: you can't.
And obama who is a nigger.
NSA
There's no generated income from NASA (even in spite of all the contributions it's made to society since it came into being). War is big business so, divert more and more money to the "war machine" and that makes profits for the greedy fucking bastards that think they're in charge.
How can we make NASA great again?
All trump needs to do is promise funding to NASA and he'd win
FDA is pretty good.
Thalidomide wasn't even a thing in the US because of them. Other than the people here that got it over seas.
Put Elon musk in charge and boost its budget near to where it used to be when it was great.
NASA is suffering from beurocracy and higher ups who seem too content with basking in NASA's history than moving forward. Elon Musk is a crazy bastard who'll throw caution to the wind, exactly what direction the agency needs.
Fuck NASA!
We're not going back to the moon, cuz, BTDT
and we're not going to Mars because they've already done the calculations, and it would require someone to be in space for 3+ years- 18 months for each leg of the trip.
I don't care how mentally disciplined someone is, even a Buddhist monk would lose their shit being locked up in a capsule that long.
Let's resurrect Buddha and send him instead.
Seems like a prospective direction for the research.
Because they spend 25 million just on a fucking suit.
I'll go if I can bring my porno games.
Sauce?
nasa.gov
NASA has taken into account the long journey both ways and it currently researching ways to mitigate the mental effects of such prolonged isolation among other things.
They're planning to send a few people there and get them back - something that previous ideas haven't even tried entertaining the thought.
>They're planning to send a few people there and get them back - something that previous ideas haven't even tried entertaining the thought.
Why? Sending a group in here seems like the obvious solution to the problem. If they're feeling lonely, make them not be alone.
Or is the payload to get a few people there so high or something?
I would argue that they could give 10% of the defense budget to NASA and we would see a better return for the nation from it.
Are you guys retarded? It's the best it's been in decades.
NASA has the top minds working on a bunch of perceived problems that none of us ever thought of, and are coming up with solutions to them. I don't know all the details because I don't work at NASA
I could do it.
They wont go crazy though. A big part of NASAs recruiting program is selecting people who aren't assholes and who will get along well with eachother. There is a reason Astronauts tend to be friends even after they quit, they are hand selected to like eachother.
People have been on space stations for almost as long and been completley fine when they come back.
Spending money on useless projects like Curiosity and other probes and the result of that is literally the need to buy engines from the Russians. As it stands now, we pretty much don't even need NASA, it must be disbanded and some kind of investigation should be initiated to find out the people responsible for the loss of american leadership in space tech.
Not enough military applications falling out of the R&D nowadays.
They do "useless" stuff like curiosity because they don't have the budget to do anything else. The way managment sees it they can either do a mission now and temporarily get the nation excited for space again (and maybe get a budget increase because of that) or they can wait 20 years to finally have enough cash to send some dudes to ORBIT mars.
They are just trying to keep the agency afloat.
Reminder that the vast majority of space rockets launched were for military purposes. Civilian space exploration is a byproduct of the human race's desire to kill itself.
It was an establishment meant to be funded by the government in order to publicly compete with other nations in technological advancement in the mid 20th century.
Now that that time has passed, there's not immediate or foreseeable benefit to space travel and funding the administration is practically needless.
this isn't even an article
it's literally an advertisement for their kickstarter to make an overpriced coffee table book
now I remember why I unsubscribed to these shitheads
>even a Buddhist monk would lose their shit being locked up in a capsule that long
I fantasize about this sometimes. The no internet would suck though. If I had my entire geimu and animu backlog it'd be aight.
We're not going back to the moon because we never went to the moon.
Kill yourself.
I'll very gladly sit in a capsule for 3+ years if it's heading for Mars.
Fucking faggot.
there's no food or anime on mars
I have spent 4 months living off noodles and staring at a cinder box wall with nothing else.
It was the best development period in my life as my mind modeled and remodeled the global economic structure using all my knowledge without distractions.
If I have a text editor and a calculator to document my thought and help with numeric testing I think I could last 6 years easy.
Because it's a huge waste of money
>lol stupid wars
>why aren't you spending more money on space rocks??? #legalise420
but your government doesnt have problems locking up people in solitary confinement for years without any trails
nasa
>buying drones from billionairs to bomb civilians is a better use of money than developing the next logical progression of humanity
>also implying the US governments classification of weed as a Class 1 drug (worse than meth) isn't retarded just because papa trump told you to accept it
Maximum cucking has been engaged.
The earth is flat so...
The end of the space race
But Elon is a nu male cuck
Send anyone from >>/r9k/, sounds like a win to me
>NSA
Actually more like the NRO.
NASA has always been a diversion from DoD space operations: sats and icbms - both in terms of funding and number of launches.
Early non-military flights (NASA, TELESTAR,etc) were encouraged to set president for sats orbiting above foreign countries. That would make the eventual tracking of US operations less onerous to Russia and the like if it could just be blamed on ATT or inter-government 'research' sats.
The space shuttle was more or less a tool for servicing spy sats and the ability to sabotage adversities.
However once the shuttle was retired, Cape Canaveral lost it's last operational ties to DoD space ops - since it's location doesn't allow for launching of polar or highly eccentric orbital sats as launching North or South puts the path above major cities. And thus those launches are done at Vanderburg CA or the ULA facility in Kazakhstan.
NASA did a lot of cool shit, but at the end of the day all they needed DoD funding and cover for more launches/spacecraft.
We abandoned warp drive and went for slip stream
He did. On reddit.
This is true. I work at a NASA center and we were trying to get a jacked PC to run our ground test equipment. Took us about 2-3 months to get it approved and ordered.
NASA is hiring like crazy nowadays. We dont have that much of a budget problem. It's even got to a point where the parking lot at my center is getting filled up and people have to illegally park on the streets
...
You voted a nigger into the Presidency.
>not harnessing the power of billionaire nu male sexual frustration
There's a reason they spend thousands on hair products and beard oils. Why not put it to good use?
>implying cuts didn't start 20 years ago
NASA's budget has only increased during the current presidency
Department of Education turned education into a an investment vehicle and a huge profit making arm of the government. It's another tax.
