Write the diary of an Arch user

ITT we write an average day in the diary of an Arch user. I will begin:
Dear diary,

install gentoo

pacman fucked up my xorg.conf again

The end.

I went on four chan and made fun of myself

One of my friends switched to Noobuntu, I can't even look at him anymore

couldn't get thinkpad's scroll button to work, bought a mouse instead

then I told mommy that I wanted hot pockets and cheetos immediately

I went to IRC to brag about my monumental achievement of installing Arch by copying commands from wiki

I drank the salty tears of yet another, uppity, Debian fag today.

>Debian didn't install my wifi drivers because it was non-free software
>Load arch, install from aur
>Everything just werks

then mom brought me some tendies while I was waiting for pacman -Syu to end

No shit, there's even a packaged cups driver for my random brother printer.

I compiled hello world from source that I copy/pasted off the internet, then bragged about being a programmer.

>Install Arch for the first time
>Fail, read the wiki about partitioning, learn a bit more about bash
>Look through the wiki for different packages and desktop environments
>Learn about NFS, SSH, MTP and TLP
>Learn about my wireless devices
>Learn about the AUR
>Learn about Android tethering
>Learn about dhcpd
>Try Arch once again
>Manage to do it with the lessons I learnt
>Be thankful to Arch for letting me learn all these

i sucked 10 dicks today. all black.

Edit: And went back to Debian.

>Edit: And I got AIDS

I did an full system update after few days, and the result is:
1. spaceFM will no longer automount removable devices, like SD cards
udisks functions are not authorized through policykit,
so devmon cannot automount drives.
2. My reboot/shutdown/hibernate/suspend scripts don't work either:
$ dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest="org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit" /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Manager org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager.Restart
Error org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager.NotPrivileged: Not Authorized
And I've done that: wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PolicyKit
but it changed nothing.
I am using Slim.

Dear diary, I'm smart enough to have whatever income through whatever means I want but am far too self-important and traded all that away for pretending to be some anti-intelligent psuedo linux internet warrior to people online who don't give a fuck and spend most of my time trying to prevent new people from joining linux as I think it's my secret club. I'll be having my head up my ass for the next 20-30 years while my colleagues who didn't drop out will become "plebs" and have some sort of job, start a business, etc. This will be my last entry, for I am better than you, diary. Fuck you.

Dear diary, sorry about that, I came back because you're the only one who will listen to me. I'm still better than you though. Would you like to join my obscure IRC circlejerk? it's invite only and full of arch pros like myself. Well, actually, you probably wouldn't fit in, fuck you.

Dear diary, fuck you.

You seem to be trying to use ConsoleKit which has long been deprecated and completely fucking broken after being replaced by systemd's logind.

1. SLiM is deprecated and not recommended.
2. Your scripts need root privilege
3. Console kit is deprecated, most distors and people use systemd instead

Bottomline: Nice pasta but too old

Here have a maki

me
>install Arch for the first time
>already new how to partition cause gparted
>install base package, took like an hour
>failed at the next step, accidentally skipped the error mesage
>havnt tried since cause the base package takes too long to dl

By learn about do you mean manually write configs for?

Mine
>Install Arch for the first time on Raspberry Pi
>WiFi doesn't work
>fugg
>Read up on netctl and wpa_supplicant
>Can't install what I need to get Internet because I need Internet to do that
>Fuck it
>Plug in Ethernet
>Download everything I need
>Learn about i3

Do you know how to tell when someone uses Arch Linux? Just wait and they'll tell you.

Dear Diary,
I was too incompetent to install Gentoo so I installed Arch Linux. It comes with Systemd cancer, AUR software anarchy and artificial self esteem so I can act 1337 while still being a completely incompetent GUI ricer.

>dude you're logged in as root
>ITS CONVENIENT
>you have everything stored under fucking /root. you don't have a /home partition, you have a separate fucking /root partition.
>SO? IT'S CONVENIENT.
>why do you have a 300mb folder full of colortest scripts
>I NEED THEM TO PICK COLOR SCHEMES
>that doesn't even
>SHUT THE FUCK UP DEBIAN HIPSTER
>I JUST KNOW HOW LINUX WORKS OKAY HATERS GONNA HATE
>but that's
>OH LOOK AT THE STUCK UP HIPSTER THAT THINKS THERE'S A ``RIGHT'' WAY TO USE LINUX
>GTFO
>okay bye
>TOLD THAT FAGGOT
># startx
>>X is broken lol
# LS - A
>>zsh: LS: command not found
>FUCK

cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/

or just add the non-free repository after the installation.
