I installed it and tried it over the weekend. Looks really promising, but I didn't like the way the DE behaved. Particularly the alt-tab window cycling. No clue what kind of magic their eopkg package manager is doing either. The animations were also super noice

It's still considered WIP though. They are going to release the last point release and then it will be fully rolling.

Look is subjective and you can theme it anyway however I don't know what you're implying by saying that it runs like shit.
The entire budgie stack doesn't seem to require much more resources than xfce. Once they rewrite it in pure C it will be even better,

That's not a star, its a rank, you can overlay a rank 1 monster if you have 2 level one monsters.
