Point of this thread?

I'm curious what g uses

RAM and SSD are kind of important too, no?

Yeah, but I'm not really interested in those, I'm more interested in power consumption and power supplies

The PSU is obviously massive overkill, but a 450W platinum PSU costs as much as a 660W so there you go.

The PSU is carryover from my old core i7 940+ gtx 480sli setup. But it's nice and quiet and has a 10 year Warranty so I'm happy to keep it in.

if you are trying to figure out what wattage you should go with, unless you have like 2 titans and a 6950x cpu, just go with a 650w psu. Its more than you will ever need.

Before you mention it, yes, that PSU is overkill. That was the point. They don't run at their most efficient when they're stressed to 90% or more. That thing at load probably never runs at more than 60%.

PSUs run least efficient at low loads. 10% is probably the worst possible load. Not that it matters since load at that point would be around 100W, but just saying.

I was checking around and it seemed a lot of people are using 800~850w PSU with the 1080, I hope it's enough.

They kinda don't. PSUs run efficiently from 20%-80%. At 100% and above it's questionable and below 20% it's also questionable.
