Skype accounts now mandatory if you have a MS account

I was deleting Skype accounts the other day just tidying up security (you have to get a tech support person on chat to do this).
The Pajeet could only delete two user created accounts. He/she informed me that I would need to email a specialist tech team in order to delete the third and final account.
I emailed them and played back and forth 6 times until they flat out said "no" they would not delete it.
The account was not even made by me, but actually automatically created some time rather recently when MS decided that all outlook(hotmail), xbox, bing, etc accounts would have a Skype account associated. This can not be deleted or unlinked whatsoever.

People I had not talked to for 6 years+ were on that list including phone numbers and photos of them because it was automatically harvested from my hotmail conversations (they were not address contacts).

How fucked is this? I guess it will be the norm soon for all these big tech companies to have all our data exposed to one another no matter what.

I had to just manually delete contacts on the web outlook (I use Thunderbird for offline contact management) AND on the online Skype web app. But it cannot be deleted.

Even google isn't this bad ffs...

And that makes difference how if you dont use have skype installed on your devices?

i don't understand why abandoning your account is insufficient. why did you need to delete your account? if it involves this much work, surely adding anything skype-related to a blacklist and making a clean break should be fine.

i honestly don't have much sympathy for people that find themselves stuck talking to pajeets. on some level i feel like you deserve what you get if you end up in that position.

i was under the impression that whenever you made an outlook account it would also double as skype account.
and that since ms acquired skype.
how is this any news?

I was just cleaning up and deleting accounts on random services. Skype was the only one I could not delete on my own and had to get a tech to do it (there is literally no option and they say contact tech support). Even then they could not delete associated accounts.
It was a big fuck around for something so simple and there is still a Skype account associated. You can't even turn it to "no one can contact me", there is just all users, or contacts only. This means you have to delete all your contacts associated with all MS accounts if you want to stop Skype from harvesting them and linking you to anyone using Skype.

You don't need it installed anymore. Having any MS account is sufficient for web Skype to work and your account is created automatically with no input from you and added to anyone who has your email, phone number, xbox account, etc.

not op but how are u comfortable with having shitloads of social accounts just floating around with ur contact/personal data on them? u need to close that shit down

Not to even get into the "nothing to hide" argument, but if identities are so commonplace what is keeping your particular identity from being used? The odds of your identity being successfully hijacked from a social network are... ?

>making Microsoft account
For what reason?

probably bigger risk of people just making an account with someone's identity which can happen if people dont "Claim" their own social media accounts on all the major platforms
like if OP cleans up all these accounts and has nothing, someone could just make a facebook and shit in his name.
so it might be smarter to make social media accounts with ur phone numbers and emails and just sit on them if u dont use them.

its auto now if u have an outlook, xbox one account, office 365, etc

>people using those
For what reason?

if you think that deleting your account deprives Microsoft of the information that they got when they acquired Skype, you're dangerously naive.

you wrote so fucking much in that post and by the second sentence it's clear that you're not answering my question in the first place.

i asked you why bother to delete the account when you could just abandon it. your response was to start telling us again how obnoxious it is to delete your account. if you can tell me why you're deleting it, i'll go back and read the OP post. otherwise, this is insane and you're an idiot.

first sentence. learn to read retard

>I was just cleaning up and deleting accounts on random services.
this is your rationale? are you honestly retarded? you're not cleaning anything up. microsoft keeps all this data. even if you cleared out the fields, they would still have a record of what info you used to have in those fields.

you can stop using the service, but anything more than that is theatre. it would be a better use of your time to do spring/fall cleaning in your home if you want to clean something up. at least that will have a real impact.

blacklist skype with your email filter and stop using the service. you've chosen to spend time arguing with some pajeet about some shit; i'm not going to feel sorry for you.

>has a botnet account
>m-muh privacy is valuable
Back to plebbit, normie.

nice blog, autist

that post was shorter than the OP's diatribe about the obnoxious conversations he has with pajeets for no other reason than because he opts into them.

it's like you people go around seeking opportunities to announce that you're idiots.

>like if OP cleans up all these accounts and has nothing, someone could just make a facebook and shit in his name.
and how does registering your name prevent that?

more legit email and phone number i guess
better than if some fag who hates you just uploaded your pic and put your name on facebook to start posting fucked up shit about you

Nice reading comprehension. How is it opt in, when someone with a 10 year old hotmail account has a Skype account auto-created and pre-loaded with contacts harvested from the hotmail account's inbox log?

>How fucked is this?
I once had to do account recovery over the phone for a certain online retail store, and they started asking security questions that they should never have known about. One of them was "your family owns land in which country", the people that own land are multiple generations away from me. I dont even know the country but took a guess and they confirmed it. I asked how they knew that and they just sorta laughed and ignored the question and asked me some more shit.

>installed on your devices
Oh, and also the skype app demands all sorts of questionable rights. IIRC one was the gps on your phone alone with every other option
