I broke my x-server, g. I was running elementary os and tried installing compiz for a stupid feature, and it screwed up pantheon. I get what i deserve, huh?

Anyway, im not asking for help on how to fix it. It looks like I'm in the business for another OS though, since I don't have the elementary OS iso anymore. Sure i could reinstall, but it wasn't that great to begin with. What do you recommend?

i really did. This is my personal computer tho, i was willing to risk functionality for looks

all i do is write essays and browse the internet. All of my technical stuff is through other computers, like home network and such. The terminal was sufficient to accessing them

a man walks into a bar with his chihuahua. The bartender immediately calls him out, saying that there are no pets allowed. The man wittily replies, "Oh no, its okay, im blind. He's my seeing eye dog". The bartender, seeing through his lie, says "You have a chihuahua as a seeing eye dog?" The man replies "Shit, they gave me a chihuahua?"

Things to do when ordering a pizza:

In your breathiest voice, tell them to cut the crap about nutrition and ask if they have something outlandishly sinful.

Say hello, act stunned for five seconds, then behave as if they called you.

Make a list of exotic cuisines. Order them as toppings.

Ubuntu and its derivatives are good for desktop. openSUSE is also decent. Fedora is really good but requires setting up and considering you're coming from Elementary I'd stick with Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu GNOME on my desktop and openSUSE KDE on my laptop.

I might check out openSUSE. I was using elementary but I'm familiar with fedora, Debian and Ubuntu

How about bsd? Is that worth looking into? I've only heard of it and have no idea what it's good for

If you have a bit of Linux knowledge, SUSE is a good way to go.
