A crisis

You're on a business trip and you're working on your laptop but the fan suddenly stops working

> you can't replace your fan anytime soon
> you can't use another person's laptop

how will you keep your laptop from overheating?

fuck off with your shill post.

DUAL FAN LAPTOP MASTERRACE!

>how will you keep your laptop from overheating?
Well firstly I woul-

>AMD graphic card
Buy a new laptop.

hairdryer on cold setting duct taped over the inlet.

macbook (the one without fans) doesn't have this problem

put it in the mini fridge

Never laughed so hard thanks user

I use one of those USB cooling pad things. It's great.

Under clock/undervolt the fuck out of the CPU and GPU as much as you can remaining stable

Unless you need the processing power for 'work', in which case you're pretty fucked

The fan in my laptop already turns its self off at low usage, If it breaks it will probably just thermal throttle.

Wouldn't the laptop get wet and eventually stops working?

Those things are a meme it only brings the laptop 2-5 C

>800mhz

underrated post right there

Hot lapop in cold fridge is fine, cold laptop in hot air will condense moisture on it, so just don't let it get too cold.

That weird Asus GX700 watercooling thing

I'd have to solder a resistor to the fan header since my laptop refuses to start if the fan stops working

fire up my terminal and type in:
echo 35 | sudo tee /sys/devisy/cpinmax

and done

have my secratary blow into the intake whenever i want to use my laptop

Depends on how willing you are to bastardize it.

1. No modification:
Disable absolutely everything that's not vital for what you do at any given moment.
Tweak settings too obviously. Buy bags of crushed ice and tin foil, wrap it around ice bag, make somewhat even surface, put laptop on it.

2. Slightly customized:
Remove fan, get lots of copper wire, remove isolation, jam as much as possible in the coolers to make nigger rigged passive cooling. Don't put the cover back on and have a lump of copper wire next to your laptop. Obviously you could still add ice.

3. Fuck it up:
Basically an extension of 2, remove plastic casing where needed and solder wire of different thickness directly to the heat pipes and build better cooler to put ice on or next to a fan/ac.

All of these can be done in a few hours with up to 10 bucks, given you carry basic tools and are able to scavenge, improvise and are not retarded. Experience in bastardizing things in general is helpful

I wouldn't use it, switch to a backup netbook

also,
>using unreliable hardware
>he doesn't have a pre T440 thinkpad, or a HP/Dell business line laptop

Or trying to fix the fan.

My Surface 3 doesn't have a fan and doesn't come close to overheating because the Atom consumes less power than a Snapdragon 800 series SoC.

Put laptop next to sink, place long bit of metal under laptop and under faucet. Turn tap on making sure that water goes down and doesnt run across to the laptop.

by getting a cooling pad

>You're on a business trip
cool
> you're working on your laptop
ok

>but the fan suddenly stops working
oh no.

>buy a new laptop
>use the old hard drive
ta-da
takes 30 minutes.

If I'm not in a hurry I just give my laptop to a shop.

> god mode: using HP laptop with an AMD graphic card

anything bought post 2011 has switchable graphics anyways... so the dGPU is essentially off when not in use.

my laptop is fanless :3

Not everyone is a multi billionaire like you user

> god mode: using HP laptop with an AMD graphic card

>business trip

claim it as a fukken business expense, even if the company won't buy you a new/used one you get it as a tax write off

Not everyone pays for laptops in Zimbabwean dollars

Tell my customer they need to requisition me a laptop so they aren't paying for idle on site time.

underclock the CPU and hope the ambient temperatures aren't too high

Do you proceed to cook ham on it or what?

This is the only correct answer. Clearly none of the other posters have ever been on a business trip, and most are probably NEETs.

Zimbabwean dollars were suspended in 2015

Have they? Damn it I've still not managed to convert my 1946-issue Hungarian 100 000 000 000 000 000 000 pengő notes

Oil the bearing.

I have a ThinkPad x1 hybrid. If it's basic productivity, I just transfer the documents before switching to Android and continue working.

>using HP laptop with an AMD graphic card
I actually had one of those a few years back. Shit was awful.

Is it a Pavillion or an Elite/ProBook pre-Ivybridge? If yes, pic related.

nice try OP, my laptop doesn't have anything that spins inside it.

is this the answer you wanted?

Put it in a plastic bag and submerge it in water.

Fun fact:

Apple computers throttle with normal use.

>be me
>own Chinknovo S440
>i5-4200U
>only one fan
>fails
>limit power to "eco"
>laptop running stable at 45°C
>still enough power for minimal usage
>Since Chinknovo, the fan was easy and cheap to replace
Felt good.
