Under clock/undervolt the fuck out of the CPU and GPU as much as you can remaining stable
Unless you need the processing power for 'work', in which case you're pretty fucked

The fan in my laptop already turns its self off at low usage, If it breaks it will probably just thermal throttle.
Ayden Ross
Wouldn't the laptop get wet and eventually stops working?
Those things are a meme it only brings the laptop 2-5 C

Hot lapop in cold fridge is fine, cold laptop in hot air will condense moisture on it, so just don't let it get too cold.

Depends on how willing you are to bastardize it.
1. No modification: Disable absolutely everything that's not vital for what you do at any given moment. Tweak settings too obviously. Buy bags of crushed ice and tin foil, wrap it around ice bag, make somewhat even surface, put laptop on it.
2. Slightly customized: Remove fan, get lots of copper wire, remove isolation, jam as much as possible in the coolers to make nigger rigged passive cooling. Don't put the cover back on and have a lump of copper wire next to your laptop. Obviously you could still add ice.
3. Fuck it up: Basically an extension of 2, remove plastic casing where needed and solder wire of different thickness directly to the heat pipes and build better cooler to put ice on or next to a fan/ac.
All of these can be done in a few hours with up to 10 bucks, given you carry basic tools and are able to scavenge, improvise and are not retarded. Experience in bastardizing things in general is helpful

I wouldn't use it, switch to a backup netbook
also, >using unreliable hardware >he doesn't have a pre T440 thinkpad, or a HP/Dell business line laptop

Or trying to fix the fan.

My Surface 3 doesn't have a fan and doesn't come close to overheating because the Atom consumes less power than a Snapdragon 800 series SoC.
Caleb Carter
Put laptop next to sink, place long bit of metal under laptop and under faucet. Turn tap on making sure that water goes down and doesnt run across to the laptop.
Benjamin Kelly

>You're on a business trip cool > you're working on your laptop ok
>but the fan suddenly stops working oh no.
>buy a new laptop >use the old hard drive ta-da takes 30 minutes.
If I'm not in a hurry I just give my laptop to a shop.

> god mode: using HP laptop with an AMD graphic card
anything bought post 2011 has switchable graphics anyways... so the dGPU is essentially off when not in use.

This is the only correct answer. Clearly none of the other posters have ever been on a business trip, and most are probably NEETs.

nice try OP, my laptop doesn't have anything that spins inside it.
>be me >own Chinknovo S440 >i5-4200U >only one fan >fails >limit power to "eco" >laptop running stable at 45°C >still enough power for minimal usage >Since Chinknovo, the fan was easy and cheap to replace Felt good.
