probably install Linux on it so I am not bothered about what OS it is

>already knows the answer
>asks it anyway
fuck you mate.

Really a ThinkPad are that good?

bought a used x201 three years ago, graduating this year. too stronk.

Used thinkpad is the way to go. My X200t (circa 2008) is still going strong after three years. Runs xubuntu perfectly. Any day now I'll put an SSD in it and it'll feel brand new. My only gripe about the X200t is how dark and small the monitor is, but if you want portable, that's the way to go. I recommend anything in the X series, and don't spend more than 500.

Should do 0 vidya during college so an old thinkpad should suffice. If you're a gaymer already it will fuck you up later. My friend bombed his 3rd year classes because he wanted Challenger what the fuck

I don't have 500 to spend on them anyways so that is good.

dell have a ubuntu laptop for 280 euro, the inspirion 15 its actually pretty comfy, light, nice keyboard, decentish sound, good enough workhorse for the price

the only downside really is its a dell

Yes, if you need something light get the x230. If you want something powerful get the w520.
Get T420 for average

Different user, I just got the x220t for college and I'm loving it so far, I'd go with an i7, 8gigs of ram. I got mine for $225 on ebay

I got the same deal on a t420 with those specs. It's great

Oh, plus it came with a 160gb ssd

Saw one like that but I thought the tablet might be cool. Idk if I regret the decision, it doesn't quite have the classic look while open

You can make a good collage on just about any laptop OP. Shouldn't be a problem.

Nah, you need a macbook, they're what the Creative people use to make Real Art

get a T400 with Libreboot on it, install whatever GNU distro you like, run Windows in a VM for needed Windows exclusive software if any

I am using an x200 that I librebooted as my college laptop. I got it for $35 from my University's surplus store. I am also working on librebooting a t500 I got there, and a t400 that I got free (as in beer) from my work.

Not OP but will a Toshiba Satellite A300 be enough for college? (Physics degree). If not should I buy a new Thinkpad or a Macbook Air? (budget ~1000 dollars)

t60 here
still runs great

You're going to need to have tools for that, or pay out the ass for libiquity or minifree to do it for you.

Just drive right on by to the mcdonalds and fill out an application

They have a cool touch screen right by the drive through!

XPS 13 if you're rich

which one is the best for music production, anime, vydia and porn?

...

Razer blade for vidya. But just build an $1000 Desktop and buy a 300 dollar notebook for college things.
