Do you understand what this entails? You are missing out on all the best features of win10 and it means that Microsoft cannot remotely scan and improve your computer while you are asleep or doing other things on-the-fly.

I like vanilla windows 8.1 Cannot complaint about it. Windows 10 fucked some drivers on everyday laptop so i had to go back. Not complaining, it actually feels confy

I had 8.1 with Start8 installed. I got bored and decided to try Windows 10 Enterprise N LTSB which is okay. 8.1 will always be my favorite though.
I need an .iso for Windows 8.1, I have a key that I got from my college but the installer it came with is an .exe that wants me to install 7 first (which in the past, would not load on my laptop). Can't I download an .iso officially from Microsoft?

You can still download windows iso's from their server but microsoft keeps making it more difficult. There's a tool that let's you easily download said iso's, called Windows Iso Downloader, top search result if you google it.
And no, it doesn't come with malware.
Have you tried the installation media tool? You can pick which version of windows you want from 7 to 10 and what version including both 32bit and 64bit as well and have it download the files from microsoft's servers to your HDD in iso format.

Because I mostly use OS X. My laptop runs Arch. Both are more than capable of doing what I want them to and I don't have to say 50 Hail Stallmans before they'll work together, so I have no reason to use Windows at all.
I am using the superior GNU/Linux.

to get an iso you should get "random agent spoofer" addon for firefox and select linux, then the .iso link will show up instead of the media creation tool.
I do that with the start menu, why do you need a full screen for it?
Fullscreen or not doesn't change anything for something that pop instantly and disappear within 2-3 seconds, do you need to admire your menu or something? If both start and classic menu have a search feature, why install slower 3rd party shit.
The only difference is the size of the start menu.
You can always turn that off and use a more classic style, but the functionality is identical.

Do you see the issue? What's so hard about hitting the Windows key and then typing it? Sure, I could do that with the stock menu, but I literally lose site of what I'm doing to search for something.
I can keep an eye on my work, and search for something at the same time. Start8 is much faster in my opinion than Metro and it looks much better.

on 7/8/8.1 you can just uninstall the relevant updates, on 10 it's built in from the ground up and there's nothing you can do about it
