You need proprietary blobs to boot the Linux kernel. Qualcomm used to allow the device manufacturer or carriers to release stock images and developers would extract the blobs for use, namely certain cpu/gpu drivers. Now Qualcomm are getting more and more secretive to the level that it's killing aosp.
