Why don't people understand the point of thick ass gaming laptops? Especially the 8 pound beast recently released called the Predator 21X.

You could make it literally the size of a milk crate and it would still be more portable than lugging a gaming rig away. There are plenty of applications. This isn't something you keep on your lap all day. It's something you can easily bring with you to another location to sit on a table. Especially if you're traveling.

I can just never fathom why someone would go to so lengths to demolish this entire category of computers and contribute to the bad name it gets. If a gaming laptop isn't for you, it's not made for you. It's that simple.

Well they're not for those who want to carry a laptop around for a long period of time, or to take notes in class, or for those looking for a long battery life. This isn't your demographic.

If I wanted to bring it to a lan party, or take it to a friend's house or just travel with it in my car, it's more convenient than a gaming laptop in that regard.

I really don't see the issue here. The main complaints against it have to do with those who would do better off with an ultrabook. You wouldn't buy this, you don't need this. And to me it's like criticizing workstations because it doesn't appeal to me, even though I'm not the market demographic.
