The pre-select watches have been chosen.
If you remember, Tudor submitted 3 black bays for different catagories and all three have been pre-selected. Which is pretty crazy.
The UN Grand Deck Marine Tourbillon is on the pre-select list.
It may be a little loud and big at 44mm, but it is a little mechanical marvel and is consistent with the "deck of a ship" astetic. They actually have this watch submitted under the "sports" category.

From the Seiko Camp, the Fugaku Tourbillon made pre-select under the "Artistic Crafts" category.
So did the Presage chronograph in the "Petite Aiguille" category. This would be the least expensive watch in the GP, I believe. If you know about the 8R family Seiko chronograph movements, or have heard me talk about them before, you know they are the ones that use three vertical clutches, one for each chronograph hand for smooth engagement. A pretty stellar mechanical chronograph movement, and one of the best deals in new mechanical chronos there is.
This particular watch is tribute to Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, which was made by Seiko.
Competing with the Presage is the Hermes, Slim d'Hermes. I'm expecting this to win that category if they do not pick the 'email' hermes to win the overall Men's category.

How's the Tempest Viking Diver for a first mid to high range watch? I think I'm pretty set on getting it, but I'd like some opinions.

What would you suggest then? When I said "mid to high end" I meant price, which is relative, to me $750 USD is a mid-high range price point for a watch. I'm not really that big of a watch person, I just want a decent looking and well performing auto or mechanical watch for $600-$900 USD.
