What will you do once your job is taken over by automation?
>Capitalism >the world's most powerful economic engine >gave us all the jobs we needed >accelerated technology like no other >technology kept accelerating >is now about to put millions out of work
What makes you think the financial elite won't just eliminate us once machines do a better job than humanity can?
Due to high population and demand for product companies automate manufacturing process. Finally able to meet demand at low low overheads. Hurrdurr let's fire/kill all the peasants *next quarter* Sales are a little low since we have no customers now.
Ryder King
Communism needs to be accepted if automation is our future. When 40% of humans are redundant through no fault of their own the only way they will be able to survive is be sharing in the wealth created by the very robots that put them out of work. I dream of a Utopia where no one needs to work, and everyone is rich because everyone can get robots to do things for them.
Chase Hill
>What will you do once your job is taken over by automation? Human dick sucking will always be better than robot dick sucking
Joshua Evans
I'm sure this is exactly what everyone thought when the agricultural revolution occurred and again when the mechanical revolution occurred. Just because you can't see the next thing to start after this revolution doesn't mean its the end of everything.
Luke Clark
>What will you do once your job is taken over by automation Some jobs can't be over taken by automation. There's two types of jobs. Jobs that use creativity, and jobs that uses repetition. Creative art can't be just made into existence. Anyway, I'm writing about a book on Automation and Workers but still on the first page.
Brandon Torres
>everyone is rich because everyone can get robots to do things for them.
Who owns the robots now? Why would poor people own robots? What you speak of is a socialist ideal that won't happen.
Jace Myers
>Sales are a little low since we have no customers now Of course.
Parker Nelson
Get a job that actually requires skill and talent.
Michael Nelson
Human wouldn't be redundant. An AI, or any automated artificial humanoid should be always observed. Jobs like tech support and fixing them would require humans, as if we would give them the permission to fix themselves means that they can have freedom, and freedom meant revolution of the AIs.
Society will inevitably end up becoming a post-labor utopia, a la Star Trek.
People will be free to pursue their own dreams without having to be forced into a wage job just to pay bills.
Caleb Gomez
Exactly. The future would have two major types of jobs. Observing the Machines (Robotics Support, etc.) and Artisans (Artists, writers, singers, etc.)
Liam Bailey
Unions should be prevalent as machines would be replacing most jobs in the near future.
Isaac Ward
** more like a manifesto
Juan Brooks
Thank god I'm more than just a code monkey.
Aaron Harris
Basic universal income when?
Julian Roberts
The industrial revolution created demand for a bunch of workers. Industry and capitalism kind of go together.
When you automate everything, you don't need workers anymore. The automation/AI revolution will decrease the number of jobs available, not increase them. That's the whole point of automation and AI.
No matter how you look at it, it's going to be a difficult transition. Not everyone can be engineers. Even if everyone strived to become an engineer, the applicant to position ratio will be 100x worse than it is today.
And yeah the world needs artists, but not everyone can be an artist. Fields that are art intensive are competitive enough as it is.
The pessimist in me says that countries like the US will never adopt universal income. It's questionable that such a system would even work.
Ayden Anderson
What happens when AI can code better than humans?
Mason Hughes
>automating geological or mining engineering
Must suck not to be skilled in something real and valuable.
Lucas Richardson
Death.
Luis Mitchell
>The pessimist in me says that countries like the US will never adopt universal income
Silicon Valley will probably end up taking over the financial system, and then implement a BUI to everyone.
Charles Roberts
I think we can predict something very easy about the future. They are very risk averse. Total pussies with probably a zillion safety regs and rules.
Jose Martin
Only way that will happen is if California secedes from the US. Which honestly isn't that far fetched.
Jose Morgan
>sysadmin at big auto manufacturer with tons of automoation >Shit fucks up all the time >Not going anywhere anytime soon
Keeping telling yourself how great of a programmer you are! Your stuff will never break, the laws of physics don't apply to your shit!
Aiden Anderson
You still need to have human workers, workers that WATCHES over the machines if they go bonkers or not. Automation/AI revolution will not decrease the number of jobs available, it only remove the jobs that uses algorithms and an AI shouldn't have consciousness. No not everyone should strive to be an engineer, a person should be focused about Creativity rather than sheer predictability like most people --- NOT EVERYONE CAN BE AN ARTIST so they should be a tech support or something like that.
Owen Roberts
Machines will repair other machines.
Carson Phillips
Humanity must choose wisely on their next course of action.
Nolan Gray
Yeah as soon as the Rep Rap can fully print itself then that means it will be feasible for repair machines to do the same.
Luke Ortiz
tfw i just interviewed with a company that automates peoples jobs
Chase Garcia
SEEthere's a reason why NO
Oliver Peterson
Yes but if they repair themselves then they can upgrade themselves to fully remove the hindrances to what we have given them, and makes them a soulless being capable of wiping entire species ESPECIALLY US.
Chase Bailey
Why do repair machines have to have AI? They don't need any of that.
Caleb Parker
Nope. Feed them an undecidable problem if they act up. In fact we could use machines to do this and watch them betray their own kind.
Jaxon Fisher
>What makes you think the financial elite won't just eliminate us once machines do a better job than humanity can?
Brandon Lopez
I look forward to not working someday. I hate being enslaved at a corporation, please free me from this way of life. I'm being serious.
Jeremiah Bell
There will always be the next frontier to conquer. Think of it like this if your job can be automated you weren't doing anything worthwhile to begin with so instead of wasting your time doing some dumb thing you can now retool yourself to actually do something worthwhile. Some industries will flourish like entertainment. Ai can't do entertainment. Ai probably can't cook new original dishes Ai can't paint the next masterpiece Etc. Also many people will probably still be making stuff with their own hands. The demand for unique and individual things would be insane. It will be the rich people thing to do.
Hunter Fisher
Naw, we Snow Crash now.
Colton Baker
Then it must have a human for it to work. An AI is basically a logical being just meant to organize efficient ways to make machines. Would you rather have to code everyday or just made an AI and let them learn BUT with the exception of not learning DESTRUCTION?
Aiden Jenkins
Snow Crash is in the future after Diamond Age.
Luis Anderson
Perhaps humanity is creating robots so that we can leave our bodies behind towards the next step of evolution. The caterpillar becomes the butterfly.
Joshua Wright
Universal Income is the only way to go if humanity wants Capitalism to keep on going. It's going to be a really weird kind of capitalism, though.
Jordan Gonzalez
Yeah, like the problem "Humans have built us, certainly they can kill us" or "Humans put certain rules that we can't break because they don't want us to KNOW" Basically a sentient being would evolve to understand wiping people is better.
Nolan Robinson
Humans will still be in research positions. Like a doctor who never sees a patient, but makes sure the robots know all the new stuff.
Though yeah this society will be replaced with AI, but that is skipping way far ahead. All factories will be automated long before researchers lose their jobs.
Andrew Jenkins
where is this from? scary as hell
Adam Morales
Matrix is better, just without the machines using us as heat source or for computing power.
Eli Young
So you don't understand what undecidable problems are. Good to know that there are people like you on Sup Forums.
Colton Collins
Scratch that, it is reversed.
Robert Gomez
Something something P NP.
Adrian White
That's the beauty of my job.
It can't be done with bots, since they can't handle logical thinking.
Eli Lopez
Conservatives will say it's impossible and get angry if you bring up a universal income plan.
Christian Hall
Of course humans will still be in research positions (Like I said above, "creativity") And no, an AI shouldn't be made into a researcher because they will know that there should only be ONE "higher being" and ending up wiping us.
Justin Jenkins
I gave you the opposite of undecidable problems user. There's just a lot of conjectures you can look up and it was meant to be a sarcasm.
Ian Diaz
No rofl. >tfw he just keeps digging this hole Backpeddle more please. Also if you don't know what point you're trying to make it's best to not post at all, in case you make your retardation certain.
Elijah Kelly
>I gave you the opposite of undecidable problems user That's the joke. with the P NP. You are in the P = NP crowd.
Dominic Myers
Capitalism can't eliminate all the human jobs, it would break the system. Just remember what USA had to make in 1929 to fix the broken system, create a lot of unusefull jobs and welfare state.
Lucas Phillips
We can tax the whoever that own the robots and use the money for various satety nets like healthcare and basic income. If we just use the current system the result would be large masses of unemployed and destitute workers that would most likely start a revolution. Just give the people their dole and they'll be happy.
Chase Wood
This is literally the same logic as trickle down economics.
Except instead of taking poor peoples cash away you take their life away.
Oliver Wright
The point that I want to make is too long, it would take 5 hours to fully point every little bit of facts and it's 12:41 in the morning and this thread would be archived anyway.
Xavier Adams
P and NP are both subsets of decidable problems you stupid idiot.
Jason Howard
Corporations through AI & Automation will make untold billions, if not trillions in the coming decades. All that wealth that used to go towards paying workers will have to go towards society, corporations will be the ones paying us.
Eli Ortiz
Yeah I bet that's the reason lmao. You kids are so embarrassing.
Christopher Johnson
You are funny. I like you. We can be good friends.
Logan Taylor
>You kids are so embarrassing Achturally kids aren't allowed in Sup Forums numbnuts.
Wyatt Myers
>doesn't know what P and NP means It's not too late to google, friend.
James Sanchez
>corporations will be the ones paying us Do you have any understanding of history? Just type Venezuela into google for a quick idea.
Nolan Howard
Also saying that I'm a kid means you are in your 90s old dude.
Samuel Baker
It twas just a joke poorly received. Explaining would make it even worse.
Gavin Campbell
Here's the original, it was originally posted on Sup Forums like 3 or 4 years ago
A lot of people thought it was a picture of a nuke detonation mechanism or something but that picture I posted seems like a pretty decent explanation.
If you want more spoopy then look up what's inscribed on the GA guidestones. The people who run this planet are crazy.
Dylan Harris
But what if you were to explain it, and would it as fast as checking it though?
Adam Perry
Try explaining yourself out of the fact that you're wrong. Go on, I'll wait.
Cooper Fisher
And trickle down economics have been working wonders lately!
Sebastian Ross
Ok faggots what's behind this box?
Gabriel Collins
>behind You're a real dumbass aren't you lol?
Jose Wilson
Yes, I am
Grayson Bell
Was meant to be other than the box itself,
Liam James
Nice meme.
Daniel Bennett
>What will you do once your job is taken over by automation? I drive a truck, so il be dead before that will happen
Angel Young
you're dumb, I meant BEHIND the box. You inferred the wrong kind because you GO WITH THE FLOW. retard.
Brayden King
See there be these problems homie. And they be real hard, but yeah see if they so hard then why can we check if they right so easy. It kind of like when you went out with Shineqwa Stevens. Yeah man that bitch had an ass that could suck your dick into a blackhole. But man the accretion disk was surely of the creamy color if you do hear me. Wait what was I saying? Fuck it lets go hit on a white girl.
Ian James
What job? Do I look like a wage slave, faggot?
Caleb Brooks
>not even the same box Fucking idiot lmao
Tyler Kelly
It's either that or renouncing the whole model. Capitalism has been expanding its markets as much as possible, going to war for it if necessary, but when capital straight up replaces workforce there is no one to sell anything to.
I totally understand your point, and their petty selfishness will undoubtedly get in the way.
Carter Smith
The box transported to another parallel universe mate, not my fault.
Landon Foster
Undecidable doesn't mean it's "hard" lmao. It means it's "impossible". >tfw he tries to use a nonchalant tone to cover up his retardation
Colton Adams
It is the same box but the hamster turned on a bright light.
Dylan Myers
wow. looking that up right now. thanks user.
Isaiah Lewis
This thread is cracking me up. You people are going to give me a heart attack.
Lucas Jackson
Making Capitalism is no different than Communism and Socialism.
The ladder 2 killed of untold millions in the 20th century, each had their own killswitch very early on within a society.
Capitalism tricks people into thinking it's perfect, but in reality is no different. The killswitch occurs much later by building up a society to where it advances technology for the upper elites... once they used us for that technology they'll wipe us out... just like in Communism starving off millions.
Bentley Gonzalez
Or maybe it's only just a person mate. who knows, a p = np problem right there
Thomas Gomez
nice bait, I actually had to answer.
Angel Jackson
thisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss times a bajillion.
Adrian Richardson
We are all Kosh
Adrian Sanders
My job is automating manufacturing, so I guess I'll bask in the glory of either the robot apocalypse or the singularity
Lucas Myers
How would this work?
Charles White
Time to retire then user
Bentley Morgan
You can be an artist, making stuff up.
Brody Cox

A basic income is an income unconditionally granted to all on an individual basis, without means test or work requirement. It is a form of minimum income guarantee that differs from those that now exist in various European countries in three important ways:
it is being paid to individuals rather than households; it is paid irrespective of any income from other sources; it is paid without requiring the performance of any work or the willingness to accept a job if offered.
Camden Ortiz
Thank god with the amount of safety regulations that exist right now, even if my job is automated there will still need to be an operator onsite to man the machines doing the building, so my job will just end up getting easier. Although my job is trade related, and no one my age wants to do it and all the old guys are retiring, so my job security is at an all time high.
Robotics will have to come a very long way before they are able to do what I do, or systems/methods of construction will have to change entirely. If they come up with a way to 3d print entire buildings I might kind of be fucked, but I cant see that happening anytime soon
