They should've just blamed it on non-original chargers like apple did.

>700 million
Chump change for Samsung.
700m? If it isn't going to cost in the billions then it's just pocket money for a company like Samsung.
Samshit spends like $15B a year on marketing alone.
I imagine that indirect losses from the hit they took to their reputation may be bigger than $700m, though.
> Samsung
> $700,000,000
> Bankrupt
That's one less ivory back scratcher for them. They'll seek compensation from the battery manufacturers and find a way to recover most of that through insurance somehow
Lost 7 billion in value due to the share price drop
This. The battery maker will take a big hit.
The biggest damage is to their brand, not to their bank account.
That's still not much considering their overall capitalization, and the shares promptly went back up.
Its hard to tell how it may affect their reputation.
It certainly isn't good, but they certainly haven't been slouches about it. Instead of localized or batch based recalls they went the whole hog, and I think that will put some people at ease.
You have no idea how shares or the market works
Their brand will recover. Apple was supposed to be ruined after bendgate, but everyone stopped caring two weeks later and the shares never fluctuated much
Still small fries compared to Apple. Maybe one day they'll be able to hang with the big boys.
Has the problem been resolved? I'm deciding to get one. Used to have the note 2, great phone.
Not yet. Replacement batches are to arrive in mid-September, I think.
When they start shipping them again they will be resolved models.
>Still small fries compared to Apple.
Apple is a small fry compared to Samsung, as a whole.
And now this shit with touch controllers is happening, but no one gives a fuck as far as share price goes.
Apple is worth 4 times as much as Samsung. Apple is the largest private company in the world.
>one manufactures electronics and military equipement
>one manufactures shartphones
Aplel pls
How is this relevant?
Samsung doesn't just make home electronics, which is the arm that people compare with Apple.
They also make medical equipment, ships, military equipment, sell insurance and more.
Samsung is huge.
Even if Samsung Electronics' phone division dies, they still make TVs, LCD & LED panels, CPUs & other semiconductor stuff
And even if Samsung Electronic as a whole dies the other Samsung companies won't.
They are on the same order of magnitude financially. Samsung is bigger as far as assets and workers go, but operates with a lower profit margin.
Samsung's business is far more diversified, though, so its shares should be less affected by a problem with one product.
as a whole he meant the fields Samsung is operating on, while apple mainly focuses on few things
>iPhone 4 has huge problem with signal
yer holding it wrong
also here's a case
>Note 7 has huge problem with its battery
here, give us your potentially defective phones, so you aren't affected anymoer
Still worth much much less than Apple. Kim Wong should start thinking of some new ideas.
>Apple Inc revenue
>233 billion
>Samsung Group profits
>305 billion
>Apple Inc. total assets and total equity
>305 billion and 174 billion
>Samsung Group total assets and total equity
>529 billion and 231 billion
go to bed Tim Cook
>Implying that Apple's ideas are new and innovative
here cums tim cuck
So why samshit of all companies offers replacements but applel won't even admit to something wrong?
because obviously apple is perfect and it's the user that's wrong
qz.com
In before "Samsung has gained 400 billion in value since 2012"
You're confusing share prices with actual value.
You can see that Samsung Group has 200 billion more money in assets alone.
This is the intelligence of the average applel user.
Permaban when?
Share price is more of a measure of shareholders' expectations rather than the actual state of business. Most of Apple's current worth is built upon the success of just one product, so it's fairly fragile. And without the emission of additional shares, changes in share price don't even affect the company directly.
>simplified version
I never appreciated how fucking complex multi-division organisations are until now
yeah, japan and south Korea have huge conglomerates
"Samsung Techwin" always cracks me up
[spoilar]more like tehcFAIL amirite[./spioler]
>Implying anything else matters
The memes end here lads. It's gone too far.

"Berlin, 8th of May, 1945..."
uh...
>share prices matter
>probably $200 to build
>retail for $900
>replace $0.50 battery
Yeah, they'll live.
they don't seem to be winning anything, lol
At least they replace them for free, applel lg and others would just ignore the problem
they don't give chargers with the phones
I like to think that when you open the hatch the tank plays the song that the samsung washers and dryers do
youtube.com
they do
Wait, how is that possible? Do they expect everyone to have their own USB-C charger?
non-us s7 edge only has a cable.
Good thing we're talking about the Note 7 then, not the S7 Edgy
well s7 edge has the same problem.
i gave mine back to samsung since it got too hot while charging. they are offering my money back or another phone now, i don't know what to choose.
money back
and get an iPhone
heeeere cums tim cuck
>original charging equipment
So the cable?
Also, stop fast charging.
