yeah, but it has an i7 in it

I've never had a problem with the i5 series even with intensive programs.

> it's a quadcore

I hate this meme more

my point is that people call out processors by their series as if that makes a fucking difference

Blame Intel's marketing team.

I upgraded to a 3770K because Mass Effect 3 shuttered when I converted a BluRay in the background. My laptop i7 never did this, but the 3570K I had last year.
>Now upgraded to Haswell-E
>Feels good man

Thanks to pajeet programming soon you really WILL need an i5 to use facebook.

>as if that makes a fucking difference
Probably because it actually makes a fucking difference.

i7 has better multi-threading.
i5 does not.

Why do you think i7's are fucking more expensive? For absolutely no reason?

Idiot.

Actually keked, feels good man

>soon you really WILL need an i5 to use facebook.

except that nobody uses facebook anymore

>laptop is dual core i5
>but it has multi threading

somewhat right if i5 were 4 core or i7 is 6, too bad even i7 on majority laptop now is a dual core.

rekt

Probably cause it does make a difference and you would have found that out with 10 seconds of google.

i'm talking about the cucks who think they need to get a ;laptop with an i7 because it's "better" and they have no reason why.

or just saying a machine is good because oh yeah i can get this one with an i5.

model number or go fuck yourself because different i5s vary in abilities you fucking neckbeards

I'm more pissed off by Intel being stupid with their naming schemes, the different processors should have actual differences. WTF is the real difference between a dual core hyperthreaded i5-6200u and a dual core hyperthreaded i7-6500u? Oh the i7 has virtualization, ladefuckingda. The product stack should be easy

Celeron = single core, no hyperthreading, 2Mb L2

Pentium = dual core, no hyperthreading, 2 Mb L2

i3 = dual core, hyperthreading, 3Mb L2

i5 = quad core, no hyperthreading, 4Mb mobile, 6Mb desktop L2

i7 = quad core, hyperthreading, 6Mb mobile, 8Mb desktop L2

i7-E = more than 4 physical cores, hyperthreading, 8Mb+ L2

Never happened on my end

>yfw zen will have hyperthreading on all sku
>none of this shenanigans

no it doesnt you hobo.

only 1/10 will notice a daily difference between a 6600 and 6700.

and thats a proven scientific statistic.

herp

>YFW Zen will only release expensive 6 and 8 core models

Actually it's six

I bought a 4770 over three years ago. The latest Intel i7 is no faster and is maybe 20% more efficient power wise. Must be nice to be Intel and sit on your hands for 3+ years.

I like computers.

>I can't afford an i7

I really hate socialism.

If shit's stuttering it's because your task scheduler is shit. If your on linux BFS scheduler is popular.

Windows only has the default "prioritize background processes", the server default and the normal one which your already using.

SMT is nice for laptops where you bleed as much performance out of 2 cores as you can. On desktops pushing the clocks on a quad/hex will get you performance easier. obv a quad/hex has higher idle power consumption though.

Based AMD doesn't pull this feature gating crap on CPUs or GPUs like Intel/Nvidia do.

but 16 threads maan.

as a user of both i5-3450 and i7-3770K i can say the i7 is vastly better for intense workloads (number crunching, CS GO map rendering, video rendering) but an i5 will service anyone who has any gaming or business need.

An i3 can be more than 4 times as fast as an i7.

>Latest Intel is no faster
>Still uses 4770
Can you prove it's not that faster?
Did you benchmark both 4770 and the latest i7?

You're comparing a decade old i7 with the newest i3 mate. F off

that's why this thread was created you sperg

This, but also higher clock speeds.

FOR WHAT PURPOSE

i7 phones when?

Yes. 4770 vs 6700. Head to Anandtech and check the comparison yourself. In their testing the 4770K is barely behind the 6700 in nearly every test. It's stupid that a 3 and a half year old CPU in the same price tier is only 10 second or often less than even 1 second slower than the latest gen.

It even beats the 6700 in many of the benches.
