Is it even possible to use my T-Mobile sim card with a verizon android phone?
I got S-OFF, rooted it, flashed a new stock android ROM, and still the little fucker won't work. It gives me a cell signal but no data. I think I have tried every single documented method for converting this thing and none of them have worked.
Can you guys offer me any advice before I just give in and buy a new phone?
No I've been messing with that all day. No clear instructions as to how I'm supposed to change it though
Michael Thompson
Phones especially newer ones tend to work on both if it has the hardware.
Brandon Nelson
This. Verizon uses CDMA, Tmobil uses GSM.
Easton Campbell
I read that the M8 was compatible with GSM though? If it wasn't how would I be able to use cell service but not get data
Kayden Thompson
Cellular wise yes, but not data.
Julian Allen
Just Google the correct APN and set it in the settings. It's an easy fix and it sounds like that's where the trouble is coming from. That T-Mobile phone has the correct bands and frequencies to work on Verizon's network.
Henry Cook
What's strange though is that the 4G icon appears in my overhead, but just grayed out - the settings tell me mobile data is "disconnected"
Does that mean you're right?
Tyler Gray
You will be able to make calls, but you won't be able to use Tmobils towers for data.
Grayson Clark
And there's no fix for this?
Joshua Cruz
no. sorry.
Nicholas Morris
Wow. Thanks for telling me before I spent any more time on it
Colton Brooks
There's no fix because there's no fix needed. The phone can work with Verizon data, texting, and calling. It has the hardware just set the correct APN.
Brayden Richardson
>no Then how did you even get s-off?
Mason Collins
I used sunshine
Tyler Jones
Are you telling me the phone can work with T mobile data somehow? Please dont get my hopes up user, I want off this ride
Carter Campbell
That's IF the phone has the correct hardware. I would be very surprised if it did.
LTE Frequencies: 1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4 1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas) Lower 700 MHz band 12 (in development) / in service in selected areas
3G/4G Frequencies (WCDMA): 1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4 1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
2G Frequencies (GSM/GPRS/EDGE): 1900 MHz PCS band 2
Easton Brown
God damn it guys
So can I or can't I use it
Blake Kelly
The phone has full LTE access through band 4 frequency 1700/1900
Jack Green
100% can work fully on T-Mobile's network.
Gabriel Torres
bullshit
Lucas Jackson
Would you mind pointing me in the right direction to do this?
Colton James
so does the fucking 1+2 but it cont work on Verizon.
Owen Williams
won't*
Carter Adams
>Bullshit The facts are there sweet heart. I told you what to do just keep trying APNs until they work that's your problem.
Owen Robinson
If it has the hardware it CAN but if it doesn't it CAN'T.
OP's phone on the other hand can without a fathom of a doubt.
I have to go OP just keep fucking with the APNs that phone can and will work.
Evan Scott
Why don't you unlock the phone?
Jose Smith
Okay, thanks I'll try I did.
Christian Allen
It has BOTH hardware in it.GSM and CDMA.
Jaxson Fisher
Just Google "How to add a T-Mobile APN on a Verizon HTC M8." Keep trying those guides until you find an APN that gives you access to LTE. After every time you add an APN restart the phone.
Gavin Richardson
Exactly
Good luck OP, god speed.
Jordan Collins
Appreciate it So that means I CAN use t mobile data?
Matthew Wilson
I don't know. I was talking about the phone in the video. Of that's the same phone you have and are trying to fix and it still doesn't work... I dont know. Have you tried praying about it?
Juan Johnson
Yep, exact same phone... I think I'm gonna go sacrifice my neighbors cat or something. thanks guys
Connor Robinson
TMO Bro Reportan.
Short answer: Yes
LTE wise, nah. Verizon uses Band 4, a band TMO doesn't use. You'll get some HSPA+ though, so 3.5G
Pretty much go to Settings -> More Settings under Wireless Connections -> Mobile Settings -> Switch your connection type from CDMA to Global.
Then on that screen click on APN and type in:
Name: Whatever you want it to be APN: fast.t-mobile.com (if that doesn't work, use epc.tmobile.com no hyphen on T-Mobile). MMSC: mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc MCC: 310 MNC: 260 APN Type: internet, mms, supl, default
Save and reboot the phone, and it should be good to go.
Leo Reed
Trying it right now, thanks for all the details I appreciate it a lot.
Do you know if I need to change my SUPERCID to anything for this method to work?
Austin Clark
Meanwhile in Europe...
> Install new SIM > Android automatically sets up network settings > Phone is ready for use
Brandon Bennett
Here are my working Tmo APN settings. Hopefully they work for you. 1/2
Jason Ross
2/2
Eli Gonzalez
Tried it, doesn't work... If you're still around would you mind telling me your preferred network setting ?
Aaron Morris
No.
Even if it technically can work on our network. 95% of the time it will fail to activate. I don't know exactly why but dealing with 100+ prepaid accounts I can tell you. It will most likely not work.
The prepaid phones get about 40% off while being junk tier phones. Better then nothing and on par with unlockfag tier phones to begin with.
