Which messaging app do you use and why?

it must be fun talking to the welcome bot all the time
why do some people here seem to have the impression you get to choose which messenger you use?
>tfw everyone I talk to only uses Skype and Facebook Messenger
Living hell.
The only advantage to Messenger is the chat bubbles really.
QKSMS
Kik (it's cancer, I'm trying to get friends to switch to XMPP)
TOX
Skype (haven't liberated everyone to TOX yet)
None. Messaging apps have terrible privacy terms and provide little value.
imessage
KakaoTalk
>has a character with an ass for a head
>thanks Korea
Tox is backdoored
I text message using the default samsung app on my N7.
The problem with all these services is fragmentation.
You've got X friends with whatsapp
Y friends with skype
Z friends with FB messenger
L friends with snapchat
P friends with instagram
as much as I have my own personal preference for one app over another, people generally don't want to install an app just so they can talk to you.
SMS/MMS is universal so I stick to that.

Signal. I have many friends who use it, it's a nice app.
fuck, forgot pic
When the hell is allo coming out
10 apps because everyone is different
none of them use iMessage so that's a plus
How's the Google Play Services going for your privacy?
Line. I'm in Japan, that's what everyone uses. I only have actual phone numbers for older folks, anyone under 30 just trades Line contacts.
They don't understand it is essentially divided by region. I got my friends in the US to use Line, but they only use it to talk to me.
Is Allo finally out?
Telegram. GPL client, nice interface, etc. I like it.
You can use microg instead of play services. It doesn't completely remove the botnet but it is better than have play services installed.
iMessage is nothing more than alternative routing in the SMS app if both sides support it. People who "use iMessage" are just sending text messages as far as their experience goes.
The only visual difference is that telco SMS messages are in green bubbles, which then gives assholes justification to be classist.
Messenger (with SMS) and WhatsApp.
Really surprised that noone here uses Signal.
Sure it has good trips.
Checked.
