An old car has to travel a 2-mile route, uphill and down. Because it is so old, the car can climb the first mile - the ascent - no faster than an average speed of 15mi/h. How fast does the car have to travel the second mile - on the descent it can go faster, of course - in order to achieve an average speed of 30 mi/h for the trip.

It's 45

A little too easy OP

You would need to drive at an infinite speed.

install gento

60 - ascent_speed

average speed = (uphill speed + downhill speed) / 2
average speed = 30mph
uphill speed = 15mph
Hence 30 = (15 + downhill speed) / 2
60 = 15 + downhill speed
downhill speed = 45mph

50

Why is this wrong

The answer is not worth bothering with. If the car is so shitty that it can only go 15 mph it will probably break down anyway so timing your trip to the minute is retarded.

Source: had an old truck and I had to leave super early to get places because you never knew when it would break down. It was always something I could fix on the side of the road but it takes time lol

As you near the end you only half the distance between you and the finish line, along with the time it took assuming a constant speed, this process is infinite and thus one never passes the finish line, or point.

Also poorfags with shit cars don't care about being timely

>mile
>mi/h

>How fast does the car have to travel the second mile - on the descent it can go faster, of course - in order to achieve an average speed of 30 mi/h for the trip.
why?
id be more worried about the piece of shit breaking down going uphill and causing an accident

>>mi/h
>mile/h
>mile per h
>mile per hour
youre retarded

If this was the case we would never reach anywhere

Miles per hour is most commonly written as mph, not mi/h.

Why would anyone over the age of 12 have difficulty solving this

What's the answer?

its mph... fucking reddit duds

>mph
miles per hour
meters per hour

meter per hour is never used anywhere.. i live in a country where we use kilometers but still i know its mph... mi/h is never used anywhere

45 you stupid cuck

This car is obviously a quantum car. It may or may not exist at all so why bother?
Also install gentoo and try /r9k.
Reported and downvoted.

Going one mile at 15 mph is the same as going 2 miles at 30 mph

Inb4 Achilles and the Tortoise

Same time*

'no'

The answer is literally infinite. (1/15 == 2/30, therefore you would need to cross the rest of the path instantly.)

It is though

The answer is that it's impossible

Which of these is right?

15 mph = 15 miles / 60 mins
30 mph = 30 miles / 60 mins
are you retarded?

Are you 11?

I was saying no to the fact that that is not what the question it's asking. Why do ESLs have such a hard time understanding these kinds outcome questions?

>hurr it's impossible

Fucking lel

Quite literally saying math is wrong

>meters per hour
Where exactly did you see this meme? Even if it's written somewhere it would say "m/h" not "mph.
