Last thread died. Post your guts.
Just got a Define r5 and a GTX 1080, pretty nice so far

Every guts thread dies, always.
It's the same 10-15 people posting.
It's the same critiques, none of which ever get fixed by the people being critiqued and once those 10 get buttmad, the thread dies.

who needs a GPU if all you do is program? :^)

Actually i wanted to find hd530 and 1440p monitor user here. Tell me, how is your performance in everyday browsing? Asking because i'm not interested in games but i don't want integrated to lag on me.

>I j-just don't n-need a GPU!
>I'm n-not poor!!!

Taken with my potato phone.

Kinda want to paint the interior.

Need more blue/grey, maybe soon when I find proper cables and a new modular PSU as well as a new case.

New thread, might as well post. I've got some ideas on how to upgrade/change the loop when I do my next upgrade, so I'll see what people think.
First of all, I'm looking at going from clear purple to solid red as my next colour. Currently have Mayhems aurora in there, wouldn't be adding it to a solid colour.
Secondly, the loop goes the wrong way around, realistically. I'd be looking to fix that by making it go from pump->GPU->CPU->rad (top)->rad (front)->RES.
On a third point, I'm considering moving to hardline tubing for the pump->GPU->CPU->rad (top) but leaving the soft tubing for rad->rad->res.
Lastly, I'm considering a bigger reservoir. The current size is 140mm but I reckon I could fit a 250mm reservoir with about 1cm or so so room. Not sure whether I'd want to leave it so tight, but its an option. Would make use of the space that I'm not currently using for certain, though I can't lower the pump any further, so its not something I'm certain about yet.
Anyone have any suggestions to my ideas?
>Inb4 black and red
Not trying to go for anything edgy, but it'd fit the AMD Fury X in that regard and my fiancee actually came up with the idea (same with the purple) independently from me, which is cool since I was thinking about it myself.

Baby blue would be interesting, but I don't think it'd really go with the rest of the internals. Don't want green because I see it as both the 'LELELE TOXICCC' theme which I personally hate more than red/black and because of Nvidia (as petty as it sounds, I've seen WAY too many Nvidia themed rigs)

Could go for a thick/solid purple, but I do want a change.

Update your Speccy, m8. It'll fix that i3/i5/i7 crap.

Just go with the purple. I have purple led fans with a white case with black accents.

Oh, another thing I am 100% gonna be doing: I gotta add LED strips to the case.
The worst thing about the current loop is that the water is a DEEP purple, but because of poor lighting into the case, it just doesn't show off how beautiful it is.
With a light shining into it, you can really see how deep the colour is and it looks amazing.

Seems to be but my critiques just dont like my case.

What case is that? I'm assuming obviously its an OEM, but is it a 'sleeper' build or were you just foolish enough to buy something like an Alienware?
Also, remove the trip. Its unnecessary.

HP xw4600 pretty solid ugly case. Also the trip has always been there and its easier to keep conversation in threads across the board.

most intel chips handle browsing and such workforce just fine, desktop at work has an i3 and it doesn't feel much different from home

Apparently /sqt/ can't answer cooling/overclocking questions, so I thought I'd try here instead.

How's this for a 360mm radiator with fans staying below 1100 rpm ?
The CPU is a 4690k overclocked to 4.45 GHz at 1.260 vcore. It was occasionally spiking up to 75-77C for a second at times, but mostly stayed around the 65C mark. Are spikes like that normal on water ?

My 6700k used to do the same thing then it just stopped
Had it at 4.5 1.295V
No Idea if it's "normal" but it's happened to me too if that makes you feel any better.

Yes, its completely normal for a CPU to spike. Watercooling doesn't nullify electric surges or sudden use increase (which causes a spike in heat as CPU usage hits 100%). What it does is keeps the average maximum down.
In theory, spikes of 99c on even the beefiest of water cooling solutions is possible.

Sounds absolutely fine to me.

Spikes are fine, as long as the CPU isn't running at a constant 80C then you're fine.

Now you're talking

I think you're fine, remember aida 64 is a stress test not a benchmark. Stress tests are designed to throw large amounts of incoherent shit at your CPU that you will really never see under normal scenarios. Simply speaking, if it can survive that it can survive anything, that's the point.

Also, contributing.

Good to hear, I was mostly wondering if the temps are too high for this thing, though.
With these kinds of setups I always see people with temperatures below 60, sometimes even in the 40s, but they never seem to mention fan speeds or voltages, so I wasn't not sure if everything is right here.
It'd be nice to have something to compare to properly.

This is true. AIDA64 also results in strangely high temperatures even for a stress test.

On a slightly different note, I can barely hear the fans spin up at this low RPM, so that's nice. Thing runs nice and quiet under load after I've tweaked my fan curves a bit.

>recently got a 4790k, way better than the 3570k

Is there a reason you needed to meme arrow that?

I need ratings.

Nice Predator.
Ugly cables.
Could have been a nice colour scheme, but isn't because you fucked your choice of graphics card.
Overall I rate it okay/10

>probably

>AMD
kek

Is that a RX480? Looks shorter than the regular card

480/10
Seriously though probably... 8/10, I don't get why they didn't make a backplate standard for it. It looks so lovely other than that. Good move with getting the reference edition. Any plans to upgrade that loop to include the 480? I mean, it'd be stupid to build a whole loop just for the 480+CPU, but seeing as you already have a loop, it wouldn't be much of a price difference and you could definitely benefit temp wise.

It doesn't reach 10/10 because of the fact its only the CPU on the loop with such a fat rad to go with it, but its still damn nice. At least its clean and efficient use of the SFF.

>Spend a shit ton on meme watercooling
>Lose money to afford a good gpu
might have fucked up your priorities there friendo

I guess I should clear that up - I bought the reference 480 (bout 20 dollarydoos cheaper than normal) as a place holder for the 490, which I plan to include in the loop. Also gonna add a set a black cablemods.

Ayy sup
Very gut

Very fair move. What was your previous GPU?
I'm and that's a Fury X on my loop, so while I don't think I can justify a 490, I'm definitely interested to see how it'll turn out.
Definitely anticipating the 590 however. Can't wait to see what it brings to the table.

another day, another Sup Forumsuts thread
sup

Upgrading from a really old PC that had an HD 7850, so it's a huge improvement for me.

Also for your system, clear purple suits it pretty well imo. Red might be too full on.

Set your GPU LED to green to match that PSU

That's true, red would be a very strong colour. I guess adding the LED's I mentioned in a later post could be what I really need to make it shine through properly.
It's a damn shame because I expected more visual feedback from the Mayhems + purple, but because its so dark its hardly visible.

And god, I know the feeling. I went from a GT240 (I think) to a HD6770 to a HD7950 and then to my Fury X. The jump between the 6770 and 7950 was technically bigger than the 7950 -> Fury X, and by the gods was it so much nicer, but playing with my Fury X at 2560x1440~144hz Freesync enabled is just pure love.
Even if I don't achieve 100fps, getting over 60 is bloody nice - and the Freesync enabled part of it makes it all the better.
To be honest, that's why I moved onto the Fury X, because my 7950 obviously didn't support FS and I wanted to utilise it.

>tfw no cpu or gpu

>no cpu
wut

What the fuck is that cooler?

A shitty one, by the look of the radiator.

Is that asus z170-a? I was put off by the brown pcb, but it looks good in your pic.

is the fury x actually decent at 1440p? even my gtx 1080 struggles at times.

can't afford it just yet

Here are all the parts
pcpartpicker.com/list/Z6wgtJ

For the most part, yeah. I mean sure, it struggles on Fo4 when I go to inner Boston if I've not made sure goyworks effects are turned off, but generally its a bloody great card.
The one thing to consider is that I don't run at everything maxed out regardless though. I'm very willing to turn down some settings here & there if the differences aren't noticeable when actually playing and not just trying to find flaws - or turn down settings if the game chugs otherwise.

I'd much rather have a pretty looking game that isn't maxed out for every possible setting but runs at a nice 60 - 70fps, than I would a game that looks god damn beautiful but only runs at 30fps.

...

>literally says z170-pro in the pic

>what is cable management

Than liquid cooling looks dangerously fragile..

>tfw want to buy Phanteks Evolv case
>tfw cant justify the purchase
Blyat to be honest ;_;

Pls rate muh guts

bumping myself, looking for input
r8s?
suggestions?

Going to be buying some plasti dip soon.

waiting on a cpu fan splitter for intake fan, then depending on temps i'll add the glass sides

i really hate when people overdimension their cpu heatsinks but it's okay when i do it on my xeon 1231v3

where is the radiator for the gpu?
or am i blind?
i see the nzxt kraken and i see tubing, but i can't tell where it leads

Looking good as always.

Aw man, I was the one who started that one too.

You are so on point with that comment.

It goes to the other side of the case its an air 240.

god damn, i knew when you get this inwin case, that you have to take caution to every single other piece of your parts to make it look good, but you completely lost it

Never changing R5 reporting in. Was considering buying 4 PWM industrial noctuas. Idk though. My cougar vortex 140s serve me well.

oh ok cool

Problem with this comment is the fact that alot of comments are about little things that come down to personal taste, so there really isnt anything to "fix"

Example
The only reason i dont lile this is because of the colour.

Does that mean that he should "fix" it?

No.

That green sticker is eating at my soul.

>ATX
>No GPU
y u do dis

>Rat nest of cables in a picture meant for ants

Not bad

>Poo fans
I agree

Turning my head is too much effort

I like it with the exception of how short the GPU is. Looks very open.

More cases need top-mounting PSU's

Electrician here waiting to fix your outlet. Actually I might change careers soon. On a related note to your PC, I like it quite a bit.

It's nice. Get the waterblock for your card and have it pre-installed with EK's QD's

That cooler is rice but I like it.

Cozy in that Manta.

All that space but nothing inside. Except a gloriously purple fan ;)

Sideways builds are always interesting. I'd be worried of the weight of the GPU.

>No CPU
>Still mounts cooler
>Nigga just wait for that sheit

>WindowInMyWayAndSideways/10

Enermax is one of the only non ASETEK OEM AIO's, I believe.

This makes me miss my 901 build.

Beautiful case

I can be green, too, you know.

I am surprised considering how cheap i got it from new egg only 75 dollars.

not to be rude but i'm not entirely sure how exactly you're concerned for the gpu being sideways?
it is under significantly less stress in the sideways position than it would be were it in the normal horizontal position, and it even has a backplate on it

could you elaborate on your concern?
perhaps there is something i can learn from

Post some of your previous builds and why you changed or got rid of them?

EK Predator's were leaking for some people and I didn't like the idea of it being over my expensive GPU's. When I got the chance for a refund or exchange I took the refund and got a D15.

SLI was too much heat for air cooled cards even with seven Gentle Typhoon case fans. I sold one GPU as I don't play much AAA games these days anyways.

ATX case was a behemoth in my small apartment. I moved to a Micro-ITX case and mobo.

its alright for my first build

...

yeah, i'm loving the case so far.

>Except a gloriously purple fan
Hell yeah. I might be getting a 1060 soon but my hopes arent high.

Concern for the motherboard PCB, not really the GPU.

That would be a nice addition. The RX 480 is a good but slightly less expensive option. A heavy GPU pushing down n it will likely bend it to some degree, unless the case is manufactured to a really nice tolerance and holds the GPU well. Sadly, most aren't. Which is why we see GPU sag everywhere. Luckily for me, I don't really have any. A slight bit on the bottom card, none at all on the top. I think the bottom card sags from the tubing run on it, actually.

In case it sags ill just put a stick underneath or something

>Concern for the motherboard PCB

You're a fucking idiot. Take off that trip.

Or, it's a legitimate concern. I actually had an issue in my build process because of PCB bending, so, it can cause some really strange and hard to diagnose issues.

You don't understand electricity even.

I'm actually an electrician. And I wasn't trying to insult you, I was trying to express a concern. I've also built well over 50 PC's in the last three years and I wouldn't say this if it hasn't happened more than once.

i'm not these guys:
I'm the owner of the PC in question, i appreciate your input but i think your concern is a bit unwarranted. that said, i will take a look at it and see if i can find any stress signs

>an electrician is fine with that wire management

yeah ok

It's temporary, that's why there are still air bubbles. It was just after setting up the build. You don't know me breh.

I won't give advice next time.

see

I see. Just consider it if your GPU is on the heavy side. Case labs sells their case with horizontal motherboard trays with an included rubber standoff to support the motherboard by the PCIe slots.

I'll look into that, thanks

Don't. This guy's retarded. He's got more weight in waterblocks, gpu's, hoses, and fittings hanging off his mobo and bending it that you'll ever have.

...

honestly i'm more inclined to take the polite guy's advice over that of a dickwad

funny how that works

Negro, for talking so much about how your loop is bled, why not post a updated picture?

Do you need us to teach you how to properly do that shit

>funny how that works
Yea, funny how retarded you are.

Sold the Gpu
Got a PB278Q 1440p monitor
1070 vs 480 ? is it even worth asking?
2500k powered build,

I'll take a picture from my phone when I get home if you must see lol

...

0/10

No reason to upgrade if new games are shit

It just looks like you found the cheapest garbage to throw together.

Or you know, I've had it for a few years now.

Also no need to overspend on what I won't use.
