So I have:

So I have:
>Skype
>XMPP
>Telegram
>Viber
>WhatsApp
>Email
>GaduGadu (polish shit on life support)

And it's still not enough to keep in touch with all people I know.
This shit happened just few years ago. What went wrong?

>everyone at WhatsApp (soon to be integrated in Facebook) without alternatives
Not sure what is worse.

sms is enough to keep in touch will all people.
stop self shaming and use it, anyone who doesn't use sms on there "phones" doesn't deserve to be contacted anyway.

most phone plans in my country rolled out free texts specifically to combat this bullshit, and australia is known for being overpriced and underperforming

>What went wrong?
You started talking to normies.

same in turkey

...

Sms is too slow.

I wish I don't have to pay like 10 cnt for each SMS I want to send.

Therefore, there's only What's App and Telegram.

fuck off
what kind of cucked country doesn't have call+sms+internet package

Spain. We never had something good at SMS, that's why Apps like What's App and Telegram had a strong grow, since they let us message free.

>>Has a reason not to use SMS
>Fuck off

because it's not idiot

>fuck off
You can message Play (P4) sim cards from other Play sim cards for free. I almost always choose to use either Google Hangouts or Facebook Messanger, because the delay between sms messages makes for some awkwarded conversations.

MMS are even worse, the lack of an ability to receive a message while on a call is a total deal breaker to me. Having to disconnect from a call to receive a fucking image feels archaic.

I cover all bases with:
>Facebook Messenger
>Whatsapp (enormous overlap with FB Messenger)
>Email
>Skype

Facebook messenger is all you need.

I don't even have 6 friends, I wonder how it's like to have so many people to reach.

As far as I know, americans don't use WhatsApp

Facebook Messenger pretty exclusively, sometimes sms but that's mostly for my family who are all older and eitber don't have a facebook or don't use it.

oversocialistion of the west

I use

Skype
Discord
IRC
Facebook messenger for literally 1 person
SMS
QQ/WeChat for contacts behind the great firewall

Most of my skype contacts have migrated to discord, hoping to ditch that soon.

I hate how client-server is somehow dead even though every fucking thing is done serverside nowadays. Why can't we have one protocol that works and then let people choose whatever client they want?

Oh wait, I forgot that's how it used to be and we threw it all away for this gobbledygook.

easy
>Mum
>Dad
>Brother
>Sister
>Grandparents
>Girlfriend
>3 Friends from university
>4 Friends from work
extra:
>random clients I fix computers for

I think it depends who are you talking with.
I use Facebook for mostly Europeans and some Asians.
Kakaotalk for South Koreans
LINE mostly for Japanese, but also some other Asians and a few Europeans
Skype for a few of each
And WeChat for Chinese.

I use Skype and Telegram.

In some way unrelated

Is there an android app that is efficient for screen capturing Telegram, etc, without the notification stuff?

I use:
Facebook Messenger for most friends and classmates
WeChat for family in China
IRC

You think OP has more? It is just that every person is using their own favored app.

>normies

I have whatsapp, tox, kik, I also use email and sms, its enough for my needs

So I have:
>cancer

ftfy

>WAAAAAAAAAH
-you

Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger cover pretty much everyone.
The rest is mostly obscure chink shit or something old people use (Skype).

and no one of this clients respect your privacy

>something old people use (Skype)
Is it really so? Is that why everyone's account is inactive? When did I become old?

Yeah. I haven't used it in years either.

I imagine Skype users are people who don't know alternatives exist.
Pretty much like IE users.

desu the old skype 6 is better than most of those alternatives

Should have listened to Franco when you had the chance

also nobody use the decent alternatives like xmpp, tox or ring

Telegram is by far the best cross platform chat software, even though it's not open source

>requires phone authentication
>questionable crypto

Not even close.

Objectively, Wire would probably be the best overall, although it's still centralized.

>user interface is shit (wasted space between messages)
>require phone number
>automatically notify people from your phone if you have an account
>closed source

what about ring?
sadly nobody use it

Ring and Tox are fully open source and decentralized, but that comes with some downsides.
(Also they don't "scramble" your IP address, it's direct p2p.)

Fuck if only every phone came with a text based messaging technology that could be used without the need for 3rd party apps..... oh wait.

>>>/reddit/

I don't want everyone to know who / what I'm texting
