Linux Khunts BTFO

>less than 5% performance drop in wine eh?

Where the fuck did this meme come from, wine is not a viable solution for unsupported programs.

Linux is pathetic, and so are you, dear human social v/egetable

>playing video games

there was your first mistake

The only reason WINE exists is to con winfags into switching to Linux. It has never even been remotely capable of the things it's said to do.

Wine is trash, Linux is also trash

/Thread

This is the first time I've heard anyone say there's less than x percent performance drop on wine, everyone I've seen discuss it have openly admitted that it gives a performance hit.

Side note, AMD Linux drivers are pretty bad and that's coming from a die hard AMDrone. In my experience, nvidia perform better on Linux but their drivers are still pretty bad. Caveat; I haven't used Linux since my GT 610 was new.

LinCucks fags will defend this

>he needs anything over 60fps
Even if you use fast paced games you don't need anything over 100fps.
>inb4 muh reaction time
It doesn't matter. Your mind CAN perceive things fast, but your body still takes the same time to respond. 1ms difference will almost never matter.

Also,
>samefagging this hard

>he needs anything over 30 fps
Don't you know each eye can only see 15?

Your gay and wrong

Nice post, faggot

Being this stupid

Lel, the grapes could not be more sour

>Don't need anything over 100fps
You've missed the point

Every ms counts, faggot

What is samefagging??
You're also gay.

This. Ask for genuine Microsoft software.

Sounds like something a gay would say desu

Nice try pajeet, we aren't falling for your meme

Accusing people of samefagging
The current year

Using the word """also"""
Gay?

>all this samefagging
Kys bots

Sexual wellness centre for men?

This is why I am sick of people telling me to stop working so hard and just use a VM, as if there was no downside to a VM.

I am a native, because if freaking works the way it was made to. Just wish it wasn't so hard to find old hardware at a decent price.

>Muh gaymz
400fps doesn't do you any good running excel or photoshop.
Faggot.

>1ms difference will almost never matter.
You can detect the difference with your ears but cannot react quick enough.

"The average reaction time for humans is 0.25 seconds to a visual stimulus, 0.17 for an audio stimulus, and 0.15 seconds for a touch stimulus."

Google "human response time"

Everyone knows WINE is shit. Linux is unstable, slow garbage with no fucking software.

VMs work incredibly well when configured properly. The performance difference varies, VMs give a pretty consistent 85-95% performance depending on config whereas wine can be better or worse depending on game.

>Linux is unstable
That's why most global enterprises use it. On desktop, it definitely has a long way to go. On servers it's rock solid.

This is the first time I've been on Sup Forums in about a week. What's up with the 20 bajillion Apple posts and this shit? It's nothing but "trolls" and bots. Is this really what things are coming to? Sup Forums is fucking dead.

Sup Forums has been dead for some time. Largely killed by Sup Forumsfags asking for advice on their gaymen pc build or ragging on anything not Windows because it "won't play muh gaymz!".

>wine
>not gpu passthru
kys pls

How is VM and Wine different?
As it was explained to me they were the same thing.

anything over 24 fps is enough.

This thread smells like curry and shit

We are talking about desktop here.

Desktop Linux is pure garbage.

What do those 3 bars represent?

Linux VM in Windows host or Windows VM in Linux host? Because in my experience the former is extremely choppy compared to native Linux, I haven't tried the latter but I would not think demanding games would be playable. I was pleasantly surprised by league of legends via wine, that shit is flawless for such a crappy quality bug ridden game.

>RX 390
>147 FPS
>I can't get stable 60

Wine provides an abstraction layer for certain things (such as DirectX), it does not emulate an entire operating system. If it worked the same as a VM everything would work flawlessly, albeit slower.

Try some directx9 with galliumnine and wine with gallium nine patchset. Maybe you get better performance with this.

>desktop linux is pure garbage
>letting a $500B unilaterally decide what software runs on the hardware you own
>not being able to run older versions without a constant blue 'upgrade now' square
>caring about game performance and not software performance like an adult
>not compiling your own kernel
>not being able to maximize your productivity by tweaking the smallest parts of the software you use
>paying for an OS
>letting MS record every keystroke you type
>giving MS all of your passwords including online banking
>giving MS a treasure trove of your porn fetish data
>not configuring your linux desktop with one of many desktop environment and tens of window managers
>not doing everything from the terminal
>being this retarded or getting paid to do this instead of developing software
kys

when these threads pop up, the same pattern always repeats itself.

half a dozen posts immediately following it are expressly or partially agreeing with the OP.

then 90% of the posts that follow are typical Sup Forums opinions. this is some shady shit.

Oh look, Sup Forums is leaking again. Remember, Sup Forumsedditors and windows shills are part of the cancer killing Sup Forums.

>I haven't tried the latter but I would not think demanding games would be playable

I am posting right now within a windows VM on a Linux host. I passthrough my Fury GPU, giving native performance in intensive games. Witcher 3 runs at 60fps @ 1440p, no choppyness or weirdness comes from using the VM.

Never run Linux as a VM on hyper-V. There are countless driver bugs (because Hyper-V is a pile of shit).
Windows runs well in KVM if tuned, one of the key factors is configuring the disk. You can pass a hardware disk through if you want, I've done it and can vouch for it working well. If you use an image file:
1. Your disk(s) has/have to be fast enough to support two operating systems
2. Set io to native and cache to none (threads causes horrible performance)

>>>/autism/

>gaymes

He makes one valid point for the average user: older software compatibility.
If you try to run older software on Windows 7 it generally works. Windows 8 and higher it falls on its face. There are certain instances where you would need older software (especially in business).

>not using GPU passthrough
I don't have an anime girl smug enough for this shit.

>You can pass a hardware disk through if you want, I've done it and can vouch for it working well.

I can vouch for this as well. Bonus is you get a Windows install that can both run as a VM and cold boot. Works like a damn charm.

It's crazy at times how libre software makes it easier to work with MS shit than MS' own products do.

...

Post the one closest enough

>I can vouch for this as well. Bonus is you get a Windows install that can both run as a VM and cold boot. Works like a damn charm.
Have the same setup. Only problem I ran into was my hyperduo card trying to hook IOMMU wrong so I can't use it along with a pcie passthrough (the LV unregisters itself on boot).

>It's crazy at times how libre software makes it easier to work with MS shit than MS' own products do.
The KVM "hardware" is a standardized set known to work well across the board. It's kind of like putting Windows on a Mac.

Thank you, I could see why some people would want that.

Still think we should have some standard layer that everything could fall back to, but such a thing is fantasy and will just breed a dozen new standards.

It's the work of one lazy motherfucker who spends all of his time here, getting off on making people waste their time. He thinks he's an epic troll, but it's actually really sad, and doesn't contribute any lulz to the situation.

>ayyymdpajeet

There seems to be an odd correlation between Linux users and paranoid delusions.

You got me, OP. You fat bastard.

But user, I'm a spider

Are you high

If you have to use Wine you shouldn't use Linux in the first place. Linux users don't give a shit

Not much, about 1.5 inch

In terms of graphics Vulkan is a viable alternative standard. Doom works incredibly well in wine because of Vulkan.
