Is Apple, dare I say it, the trendsetter in Technology?

is that the new Apple iPipe?
All jokes aside these look like some kind of ghost in the shell shit and I want them badly.
If they were free with the phone, then perhaps they would have some entertainment value. But they are overpriced and sound like shit.
I think they look nice all things considered but I wouldn't want to listen to music with them.
Seems like I'm the only person on this board impressed by these. I'll probably buy them in a few weeks.
>the dust has settled
yeah it's been like 4 whole days.
Worst design ever.
Anyone can now use these headphones as lever arms to kill you.
Everyone here just assumes they're the old earpods with the wires snipped off. They've been improved in both sound and shape
>Now, that plastic has been a deal-breaker for me for years—I hate how normal EarPods feel in my ears. They don’t seem like they’re going to stay put, and they simply fall out if I move my head too much. Even if they do stay in, after about a half hour, my ears just start to ache, although I don’t experience the same pain when using earbuds with silicone or foam tips. Since the AirPods look so similar, I expected them to feel the same too—and I’m surprised and happy to report that I was dead wrong.
>Not only did I dance, I headbanged. I shook my head side to side, I tossed my hair, I jogged in place, and I looked silly doing all of it. The AirPods stayed put, and they stayed loud. The music (more Sia, naturally) sounded full and lush and I couldn’t hear a single word anyone around me was saying, as if I was completely sealed off in a bubble of rock and roll. Pretty impressive.
There were no reason to remove the audio jack at all, phones had bluetooth and bluetooth headsets since like 2002.
What kind of innovation is that?
they did it on purpose to force aftermarketfags to make wireless headphones and remove the option to even use normal headphones
they have enough marketshare to pull this off
Nice idea, but since there's nothing but your ear keeping them on, about 90% of the people buying these will lose them within a week.
why is so impressive? because it's made by apple? there are many in-ear bluetooth headsets in the market already.
Yes, apple is the transgender in technology :^)
>charging case that will keep them charged all day (for my usage styles)
>siri capability
>microphone
>surface has a sensor you can tap for more functions
>those functions can be customizable (one tap for this, two for that, etc)
>if I remove one it knows and reroutes audio/mutes the one taken out
>automatically switches between my phone and laptop
>they have enough marketshare to pull this off
agreed apple ios users are locked in and often have many apple devices and they are unlikely to stop buying new iphones over this. But I would be surprised if the android phone makers follow suit and remove the headphone jack. This gives anybody concerned with audio quality and versatility a good reason to buy non-apple products.
The dual crack pipe design allows Tim Cook to point and laugh at the junkies who need their fix on what ever stupid shit his company puts out. In this respect I guess they are a trendsetter in schadenfreude aesthetics.
The truth is that even the most fervant android fans are sitting back this week and doubting their decision.
>flagship android phone on total recall
>fragmentation and security STILL a huge problem
>performance eclipsed by 2 generations of a competitor
meanwhile apple releases another phone that is causing major cognitive dissonance to their narrative.
>but apple is removing the headphone jack!
>but they are ripping off the consumer!
listen to android authority's podcast this week and how they outright lie and come up with excuses about how inferior iPhone 7 is.
sour grapes indeed.
just because another shit smells worse, doesnt make shit delicious.
Cant wait for the new apple iButt butplug that lets you twitch your ass to select functions.
i wouldn't say "many", but there are a few. apple has never been first to market with anything, though. their M.O. is to show up when they think the technology is about 80-90% sorted out, push the last 10-20% as hard as they can, and get remembered as being the first *good* (or first competitive) option.
they tried this with PMP peripherals and firewire. remember when the iPod needed an adapter to work with USB? maybe not. it was a long as fuck time ago and they realized pretty quickly that they were losing that fight. they did the same with early video players and codecs (won that one). the retina MBP might've been the first laptop with such a high resolution at the time (i'm not sure, nor do i care), but it definitely wasn't the first very high resolution display. they just picked it up as the technology was firming up, pushed their agenda (render everything at 2x and then scale down) aggressively. now apple is known for high pixel density screens despite them being ubiquitous on android smartphones and increasingly common on windows/linux laptops as well (although to be fair, windows still hasn't caught up with os x on display scaling).
everything is new to someone/some people. these airpods are new to a lot of people.
Way too much money. They should be about $40 at most.
xD upvoted!
Fuck off with that middle-school tier humor you 9fag chucklefuck.
>Fuck off
ok will do, you keep sucking Apple dick.
>Looks like retarded white sticks hanging from your ears
>2 hour battery life
>If you lose one, it's $160 for a new pair
BRAVO, APPLE
SO FUCKING BRAVE
they sold the 3.5mm earbuds for about that price. i agree that apple is overpriced (wildly overpriced in the case of these peripherals), but it would be internally inconsistent for them to charge approximately the same amount for these wireless earbuds. like it would be preposterous.
if you agree that the wireless earbuds are more complex, more expensive to make, and therefore should cost more than the stock earbuds we're used to seeing, then you should also agree that $40 would be insanely out of character for apple.

1. this cliche about losing your electronics is mind-boggling. do you lose stuff a lot? i don't think anyone i know has just straight up lost something important to them like their headphones. are you trying to articulate loss in a different sense, like them falling out of your ear while you're running and slipping into a sewer grate? can you elaborate?
2. are they definitely selling them in pairs? why not sell them individually for ~90 or 100 and sell a pair for 160?
...
>how they outright lie and come up with excuses about how inferior iPhone 7 is.
Spec wise the iPhone 7 is not that advanced, many flag ship android phones curb stomp even the 7 plus in this department.
When it comes to Android you are right about the note 7, and security issues. Android fragmentation is only an issue when the carrier stops an update from being released that is designed to work for the device, in all other cases this is not an issue. Why should any company push updates to legacy devices that will not handle them smoothly? Apple does this and it causes their customers to rightfully accuse them of planned obsolescence, if a device can not handle an update then pushing it out anyway will only cause performance degradation and customer frustration.

>if I deliberately say incorrect things everyone knows about already MAYBE they'll become true
Jesus Christ, thank you Apple for the annual cryfest on Sup Forums. How angry are you right now m8?
Here's an anecdote, I have lost pair of scissors in my house, been lost for a year still can't find them.
What did I say that's incorrect?
you dont lose them when they are actually attached to somethng this shit will just disapper
Its a journalist report, where's the bait? The wire is the thing which teases the earbud out the ear in the first place.
You know and we know exactly how much battery life the AirPods have, you fucking retard. Who do you think you're fooling? This isn't 9fag, time to go back.
>a battery manufacturer fucking up an anode in one model of a samshit phone means android is bad
Delusional as fuck m8
They are, earbuds with microcontroller, PCB with blutooth antenna on it and battery.
I bet they sound worse than previous once.
>i don't think anyone i know has just straight up lost something important to them like their headphones
really ? I've found several pairs of apple headphones in the street and many pairs of other types. People definitely loose headphones and the smaller ones with no wire will be very easy to loose.
how about instead of always fucking over everyone they take a slight hit on profit margins so people adopt their new shit?
you've misplaced your scissors. that's different from losing them, but if you misplace something as big as scissors it sounds like this is something that happens with all sorts of stuff. i'm assuming your scissors are bigger than a smartphone.
if you're not using an earbud (or both earbuds), you put them in the floss box. you might misplace them by leaving them in your pockets or something, but you'll find them again when you check your pockets before doing laundry (or if not, then honestly again i don't see how this is any different from losing any set of earbuds).
i only see 3 states for these earbuds:
1) in your ears
2) in your hand, moving to/from the floss box
3) in the floss box
i'm never going to own these earbuds (the wired earbuds never fit me particularly well, and i'm not going to pay money for that continued experience), but this complaint about losing them seems childish to me. if you can articulate a reasonable scenario that involves you losing your earbuds that doesn't make you sound like you're drunk 24/7 or like you have cerebral palsy, then i'd really like to hear it.
>in-ear phones
It's shit
>once
thanks for the opinion, Einstein
it wouldn't surprise me if those wired earbuds were thrown on the street deliberately. they're not very good sounding and the fit (at least for me) is awful.
>Its a journalist report
Apple blacklists and whitelists reporters depending on what they say about their product, take apple product reviews with a grain of salt until the release date fervor has worn off.

Hint: they will never say anything bad less apple wont give them another.
because that's literally not how apple has ever operated. the apple watch was overpriced at launch despite being late to the smartwatch game. if it was MS or samsung in their position, they would have sold at a loss to get more devices on people's wrists and prompt developers to make apps for their platforms.
the same has been true of everything they do. apple's trying to project itself as a luxury good, and flooding the market with expensive earbuds at a loss doesn't do that.
their cheap shit earbuds are the lightning connector earbuds anyway.
Looks like faggot garbage for nu-males
HHAAAHAHHHAHAHAHAH WHAT THE FUCK NO WAY OH MY GOD WHAT IN THE WORLD
eww i'm cringing
that looks so bad in use...
>faggots will pay $150 for this....
who is that guy? why are you guys acting like triggered faggots?
>people are already doing mental gymnastics to defend this
facepalm.jpg
omg they look like normal earpods with no wires hahaha /r/cringe xD
>because that's literally not how apple has ever operated
Which is why I suggested they tried something different and "courageous"
>the same has been true of everything they do. apple's trying to project itself as a luxury good, and flooding the market with expensive earbuds at a loss doesn't do that.
Nobody in their right mind would buy these things if they don't have the 7. All the "extra" features they claim to have over blutooth only work on the 7. There is literally no other reason other then mindless greed to not heavily discount them with the purchase of an iphone 7.
>their cheap shit earbuds are the lightning connector earbuds anyway.
Aren't these fucking things still 40$?
No lmfao do you see how they stick out of his fucking ears omg this is too good. Im not cringing Im just finding it extremely funny looking for some reason. Normal earpods dont look like that. At least I dont hope they do because then I look like a fucking star track fuccboi.
>the retina MBP might've been the first laptop with such a high resolution at the time
Thinkpad beat them by about 8 years IIRC.
Ive had earpuds knocked out of my ear before. I bet it has happened to a lot of us over the years. All it takes is not fully inserting
>Defending crack pipe aesthetics for earbuds.
These were a shit design all around.
>aren't these things still $40
yeah, that's their cheap shit. they project a luxury brand. you don't get $10 headphones from a brand that's trying to present itself as one of luxury, even if they're only worth $10 or even $1.
they probably should have bundled them with the 7+ or just with the piano black versions or something, but that option is still there. you shouldn't expect to see discounts or bundle deals on any debuting product ever. the first month or two is the only time that apple can expect people to stand in line for days at the apple store not having pre-ordered and willing to take literally whatever iphone is still in stock. why would they offer a discount to people in that mindset, that are willing to take practically whatever apple will give them?
apple is almost definitely going to sell out of these earbuds. customers are stupid and want new things, and wireless earbuds are the newest things imaginable for a lot of customers right now. they're going to go nuts for them. apple doesn't need to sweeten the deal.
hi just a quick
>(i'm not sure, nor do i care)
>sia
>$150
>$10 sound quality.
There's my issue - I listen to music, I like my music to sound nice, why would I buy these even if they were wired and cost $10?
Apple set a lot of trends but this one is a huge gamble and I kind of hope it's going to turn out to be a complete misfire.
I wouldn't mind if a new standard for audio connections emerged from this, though. The 4-pole jack thing is just a big mess. Poor compatibility for just a few features. There should be a headphone standard that can also be used by any smart phone as a fully functional remote, and which isn't bluetooth.
why would you care what apple does if 80% of the world uses android?
oh god the Earin wireless buds were so bad. thats why i'm worried about airpods. there has not been one true wireless buds that don't completely suck
>camera bump
>2016
Please explain me, what the fuck, are they serious?
that's the thinnest they can make the camera.
i wish they would just take the hint and make an iphone that was exactly that thick all the way across, giving us like 2x the battery capacity, but nope.
>removing features is a feature
i cant wait for the iphone7 iventure edition you know, the one without a GPS and costs an extra $50
the fact they waited to release them until they removed the audio port says they're worried about how people will react to them. i will buy if theyre decent but i highly doubt they will be
what?
did you stroke out or ...?
Yes, this is literally the same way people react to the transgender conversation: "It's not natural! It used to have a thing, and now it doesn't have a thing? Are my kids gonna think?"
Apple is the trendsetter and every phone will have this in the next 2 years.
>the one without a GPS
GPS is required in all cellphones so they can find people who call 911 and help them and also other stuff.
>xDDD i used le sour grapes maymay that automatically means im right xDDDDD!!!1!
Kill yourself.
...
Are you sure? I have never heard of cellphone technology being made to inform 911 of your GPS location. As far as I know, a phone call is raw audio data and nothing else. I know the emergency call center can find your position if you call from a landline but that's because there's already a public directory associating phone numbers and addresses.
Why are people acting like this is the only BT headphones that work with the new iPhone?
Also, imagine a year from now. There will be a huge variety of wireless headphones and dare I say, a few good ones.
Thanks
ahahahah muh "clean" design
You don't know how they sound yet, duke
>go running
>earpod falls out because they barely fit into your ear

Sup Forums - consumer technology for pajeet
Haha, Android shills back at it again with a new comic issue of The Great Shilling!
>dont have to worry about stupid cord stretching because you tug on it while running and it loosens wire
>dont need to worry about sitting or laying on wire with your fat weab ass
>literally can hear with best quality aka beats audio with almost no problems
>become popular since you have rhe best headphones ON MARKET
could list so much more but hey, we are talking to dumbfucking shills from android
Trend setting after others already did it?
Do people still forget the galaxy gear had rose gold before apple?
>Samshit fanboys trying to claim their universally ignored shit came first
>Buggy, shittly made and sold poorly
>trendsetting
it begins
Listen mate, trendsetters make it popular. Samsung have never made anything popular except product recalls.
Damn, who made all these latest phones so big and waterproof?
Why would you want this? Wouldn't they stupidly easy to lose?
You forgot
>the best earbuds since the earbuds
and
>simply beautiful
Sony did.
It's hilarious that anyone who criticizes Apple gets immediately branded as a Samsung user.
>The music (more Sia, naturally)
Why would you even go so far as to shill the choice in music Apple used in their presentation?
Whoever wrote that probably doesn't want to be blacklisted. Better to go all out on the shilling than running the risk of sitting out the next product announcement.
Kind of unclear, seems they weren't all that water resistant in the past, might have gotten it properly done by now I suppose.
I do recall the s5 I think also had some issues, mostly because they still had a removable back so if you didn't quite put it on right it wasn't properly sealed. Not sure I care quite enough to find out who did it first and such.
Sony is hardly a credible player these days. If they were attacking anyone it'd have to be Samsung.
Shut up, they're impressive because you can now have a physical representation for everyone to see of how Apple's fucking all of your holes by having what looks like a pair of Apple dicks shoved in my ears all day. The only down side is that it looks like they're just shoving the balls in my ears, they need to get it so that the long part is going in.
>Sony is hardly a credible player these days
How are they not credible?
lol, like your porrfag ass will ever know what these sounds like.
Maybe, in 10 years, when they're selling used on ebay for tree-fiddy you might be able to afford them.
99% of Sup Forums are poorfag subhumans, just look at the thinkpad threads.
Poorfags should be gassed.
What are some not shit wireless buds
