Is this really my only choice?

Is this really my only choice?
There HAS to be something better, it's almost 2017...

photoshop

I ain't dualbooting just to make memes and crop screenshots.

Photoshop.

List 3 things wrong with GIMP

protip: you cant

Use WINE.

>dualbooting
i'm pretty sure it works on macs too

Paint.net

Then why not GIMP?
I use it to make memes and crop screenshots.

>make memes and crop screenshots.
GIMP

1. It's not as good as Photoshop.
2. It's shit.
3. It's literally shit.

1.unusable user interface
2.lack of feature parity with paint.net let alone Photoshop
3.sadomasochistic name not suitable for use in a work environment

Krita you dumb cucks

Krita

I ended up using FFmpeg to crop the screenshot because fuck everything.

I guees I will check these options in the future.

just get photoshop from what.cd

whats ur problem

I'm not a private tracker cuck

>make memes and crop screenshots.

Then GIMP is perfect for you. Set it to single window mode and take a few minutes to learn its procedural tools, i.e. how to make text with black borders like on le maymay macros. It sucks if you need professional filters or whatever but for tasks like this it's just fine.

>implying gimp is bad

It can more or less do anything PS can, it just takes a bit longer since it doesn't have some of the fancy features. Unless you are actually doing professional work with image editing or art, GIMP is perfectly serviceable, and you know, it's free..

GIMP's UI is fine, just turn it into single window mode. It's actually way less of a clusterfuck then PS's UI is

>1.unusable user interface
single window mode
>2.lack of feature parity with paint.net let alone Photoshop
paint.net is a toy, learn to use a real tool
and no shit it's not going to be as powerful as PS, the devs aint got the manpower
>3.sadomasochistic name not suitable for use in a work environment
windows is sadomasochism redefined yet it's perfectly okay to mention. DOUBLE STANDARD REEEEE

Would Gimp be more popular if it didn't have that dumb name and the stupid mascot?

GIMP is already very popular, it comes with most distros, even KDE ones. It's just not popular on Sup Forums because everyone is a Sup Forumsraphics designer who needs industry standard software because they use it for work. Apparently.

Either that, or they're too lazy to learn a new program, and too stubborn to adjust their workflow.

But you don't have to?
Pixelmator, Affinity Photo, maybe Acorn

>I ended up using FFmpeg to crop the screenshot
use imagemagick

lots of paint clones, plus inkscape, krita, blender, ...

>2.lack of feature parity with paint.net let alone Photoshop
we assume you did RTFM and installed some plugins... did you?
