What are some good projects to show to employers if one wants to be come a sysadmin, particularly involving linux? I'm thinking of getting a cloud server for setting up a blog where I talk about learning linux and other technologies, and also my experiences with LUGs. What do you guys think?

Bump.

I had an interview for Comcast the other day. Does that count?

For what type of position? How'd the interview go?

Working on CCNP now. Im sure I can already quit and make more money, but ill wait until my CCNP is done to ensure max gains

I'm interested in computer maintenance & repair, and while I'm aware of CompTIA A+, I'm not sure where of where else to start or if it's even worth it. What other certs are worth looking into? I'm just looking for a "cozy" IT job and want to get away from retail.

>pc repair
so you want to make no money?

I've been interested but heard iffy things about it. I'll admit, it's been a while since I looked into it, so I don't know how much has changed.

Usually those type of jobs are used as gateways to get your foot in the door and get some experience.

Installation Tech or whatever. It seemed like it was good. They said I'd get end email in 7-10 days and day 10 was like yesterday and I haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully this week I get something or maybe I should call.

I work fast food, so it'd be quite the upgrade

Ever work down in KAF.

Do you have any certs or degrees?

Not as a contractor. Went there while in the military though.

First tech job, coming from a McDonalds.
I'm shit at school, taught myself most of my tech knowledge.

No idea what to work for, thinking certifications? Dunno where to start.

Horrifyingly underpaid...

Vendor neutral certs and gov jobs

No, unfortunately.
