1. Terminal can be used for quick commands
2. You can customize it to your preference.

having to use the terminal for every god damn task instead of a nice gui

>telling the cab driver where to go instead of just driving a car your self

This is a board for tech enthusiasts not people who are too dumb to use their computer to its full potential and doesn't even understand how his computer works.

You will never have a comfy tech job.

It made for people with an IQ over 100

The choice to not use it.

maybe I just enjoy the efficiency of not having to manually do every unimportant task in terminal
>inb4 write scripts to do these tasks yourself then
why not just have it written for you like on a normal os, then create your own for anything else you might need

Too real. I'm stuck having to boot up windows just to play some MMOs. Really takes away from the comfy.

It sucks the least

>for every god damn task
Butthurt Sup Forumskid doesn't even know what he is talking about.
>instead of a nice gui
Windows has GUIs, but none of them are nice by any measure.

Oh. I don't follow pokemon.

using incredible compilers like GCC in the system it was made for and the customization

It does what I tell it to do and nothing more. If something goes wrong I can easily diagnose and fix it myself.

You know, I just realized that it's racist/stereotypical for the game's developers to pair up the Asian medical Navi with an Asian operator.

Only have it on one computer - a Dell Dimension C521 with an AMD Sempron 3400+ at 1.8GHz, 3GB of RAM and a 320GB hard disk.

It's running Ubuntu Linux 10.04, and probably will be for a good long time.

It's quite slow to be honest, but I'm going to pin the blame for that on the low end CPU I've got in there.

I use it to identify monitors because Windows tells me what modes it can handle and only lists it as "Plug and Play monitor," Mac OS X just tells me the current mode, but Linux will tell me "Royal Electronics RCK-128124+ Scientific," and list all the modes the monitor can handle in comparison to the modes the video card can handle.

Its also useful for bypassing security measures on random hard disks I find in trashed computers - lets me erase them and use them despite being used in a UNIX system or some other random operating system and formatting that Windows not OS X would normally be able to identify and use.

the game devs were japanese

That it's not on my computer.

sudo pacman -Syu

updating all your programs with one command is my favorite thing in linux
